BOOM! In your face with all this goodness! Still tweaking my base dough recipe & experimenting with flavor & texture combinations that wow the taste buds & feel good in the mouth. Cuz you can't underestimate the importance of mouth feel. Made 2 brand new kinds to take to work today for another round of FEEDback: * Pineapple, coconut & macadamia nuts topped with an ever-so-gentle sprinkling of Maldon sea salt flakes. Think white chocolate-macadamia nut cookies... only good. I mean, REALLY good! Yeah, you heard me: I don't like WCMN cookies. (So boring & one-note. Tell me I'm not alone here!) But these Lil Leidies check all my boxes, even without chocolate. * Bananas, strawberries & semi-sweet chocolate (plus some of that oh so enhancing salt). Best served 2 at a time with a bit of ice cream between them & rolled in crushed peanuts. Or at least I think that's how they'd be awesome, because I've only tasted that in my mind. 🤯 Banana Split, anyone? Only, they never made it to the office. No, I didn't eat them all (yet). They were over-baked & not up to snuff to cross the threshold of my front door. Um, yeah, I think I'm onto something here. The Wake&Bake breakfast-themed cookies were a hit with a FEEDback score of 7.5. Another round - actually two, I guess - of solicited taste-testing & anonymous feedback from coworkers. Today's booty: * Wake&Bakes: chocolate- covered espresso beans, Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal & , thick-cut bacon (made 1/2 without for the vegetarians). I've also made these with Cap'n Crunch Crunch Berries & really can't decide which I like more! * PB&Js (Chunky): Reese's peanut butter chips, freeze-dried strawberries, freeze-dried raspberries & roasted, salted peanuts. These have been only an idea until now. Made this first batch last night after taste-testing lots of J options. So, I haven't posted in several days (insert audible gasp & pearls-clutch), BUT that doesn't mean I've been slacking. Posting relative failure is hard y'all, no matter how delicious! During that time, I whipped up 2 big batches of dough - each one tweaked differently from every other one I've made thus far - and baked 4 varieties throughout the week. From alllll of those cookies, the 24 in the Byrd's jar is all I had to show for it. Well, these 2 dozen cookies - my favorite yet, BTW - and tighter jeans. 🤨 Soooo... since I apparently can't be trusted to not eat a fistful for dinner, today I officially started crowdsourcing their development by bringing my otherwise empty Byrd's cookie jar to the office & asked my coworkers for their anonymous input. Feedback, in the most literal sense. Just read the comments & tallied the scores. Drum roll please... Averaged 7.9 out of 10. Not too shabby! Can't wait to play with the recipe some more & bring in another batch for culinary scrutiny next week! What do you do on your lunch hour when you're working from home & you royally screwed up the batch of cookie dough you made the other night? You try to fix it! Baked a quick dozen of just plain cookies - no chocolate chips, no nuts or other mix-in's - last night in my quest to perfect my dough recipe & ended up morphing them into a couple of seriously tasty ice cream bowls. Have you ever put Greek yogurt in your cookie dough? Me neither, until this batch. No, this isn't an attempt at making my cookies healthier by swapping out some of the butter for yogurt.
