You ever wonder why we never seen any Kappa’s or Centaurs in Mugen?

Ah, I’ve seen this! (I’d love to get my hands on the rest of it, even if I couldn’t read it…)

Actually, I think you can see both of them here in this screenshot from episode 18. I knew there was a Kappa in there (there’s also a couple more in episode 33), but when trying to find it, I didn’t expect to find what is potentially the centaur girl too. The hairstyle and outfit seem to line up, and the back of her looks like it could easily be the horse end lol

This random girl who pops up for a split second in the first episode could also be her, as the hairstyle is the same (albeit a different color), though we can’t really see the lower half of her, so it’s a bit of a mystery. Either way, it’s pretty clear that if there are centaurs on Mugen, they’re a pretty rare sight.

Regardless of whether this manga is official or some kind of doujinshi, it’s a nice little detail.

[When the Eto Rangers fandom gets big, here’s what I predict will start happening:

There will be a ton of OCs that impress the Rangers with their astounding abilities and are admitted as the fifteenth, forteenth, or thirteenth member. A lot of which will be hybrid animals of some kind.

There will be a ton of Jyarei Monster-turned-good OCs, a significant number of which will fit the above point.

There will be a ton of crossover fics, and nine out of ten of them will be guilty of blandly visiting every plot point of the crossed-over work one by one. 

The Rangers will often be shown committing acts that would alter the story far more than a Jyarei ever would due to the fic author not thinking things through.

Hols will wind up in a dress a lot.

Rouran will constantly be portrayed as a misunderstood prettyboy.

Tart will constantly be portrayed as either an unstoppable force of nature or an unlikable jerk. Often both.

Monk’s pranks will be portrayed as flat-out sadistic; less “pranks” and more “death traps” or “character assassinations”.

There will be a rivalry with the Kingdom Hearts fandom.

Shipping wars between Tart x Pochiro and Tart x Gaoh. Gaoh x Chocolat, despite being canon, will largely be either ignored or shot down by Chocolat turning evil again somehow.

Endless arguing over the spelling of names. Soufflé or Souffle? Urii or Ury? Gaoh or Gaou? Pochiro or Pochirou?

Of course, as annoying as all of those would be, I still hope it gets bigger at all now that I’m working on editing the subs.]

Novel World Characters

First is the Oni Robots in the corrupted Novel World of Momotaro.

This is the Mecha Wolf from the corrupted Novel World of Three Little Pigs.

The Third Pig has a mechanical house that transforms into a Pig Mecha to combat the Mecha Wolf.

This is Dark Mugen’s version of Urashima Taro. He is a fish person; with a humanoid body structure, scaly skin and fin ears.

He is capable of transforming into a giant monstrous version of himself. He has eyebrow ridges, huge fangs and an angler lure on his head.

This is Dark Mugen’s version of Urashima Taro’s turtle. This giant turtle monster is the bodyguard of Urashima Taro. It can breath fire and can blow wind out of his mouth.

This is Dark Mugen’s version of Princess Otohime from Urashima Taro.

Strange but True.

Evidently, Cream isn’t the first rabbit out there to hold that name.

Turns out that, back during the 90s, there was an anime called Eto Rangers, whose main characters (the titular rangers) were all based upon the animals of the Chinese Zodiac. This naturally meant that one of them was a rabbit, and that rabbit? Was *also* named Cream.

Here be a picture of her. But yeah, we exist in a world where there’s more than one Rabbit called ‘Cream’- gotta wonder if that’s a coincidence, or a deliberate shoutout. 

Either way, just a random, odd little factoid to mull over.
