I think one of my favorite creative joys is seeing how many different things people can do with the same concept. give ten writers the same starting point, or basic plot, or set of tropes to use and you're still going to get wildly different end results

the details you focus on, the ones you omit, turns of phrase, tone, and framing, the cadence and tempo of the sentences themselves, all the little fingerprints you've left littered across the prose — how you tell the story matters, and your personal voice is what makes it unique

Client sketch vs. final illustration

When someone commissions me, I absolutely love getting a rough sketch/doodle of their concept—it makes the first steps of an illustration (composition/posing) so much easier.

I'll never ever judge a client for a messy sketch!! (And also, no pressure to send something like this if you'd like the artist to take the creative reins on your piece.)

I’ve seen a lot of posts on my dash tonight about users who are threatening suicide, with other Tumblr members posting in effort to try to get ahold of them. I think you all should see this:

IF THERE IS EVER A TUMBLR USER WHO HAS POSTED A GOOD-BYE MESSAGE, SUICIDE NOTE, VIDEO, OR ANYTHING OF THE SORT, PLEASE FOLLOW THIS POST.

1. Scroll to the top of your dashboard.

2. See the circular question mark icon at the top? It’s the third one over from your home symbol. Click on that, and a screen similar to the one in the picture will come up.

3. Where you can type in questions, the box with the magnifying glass at the top, type in the word “suicide.”

4. Click on the first link that shows up. It should say, “Pass the URL of the blog on to us.”

5. Type in the user’s URL and tell Tumblr admin that the user is contemplating suicide and has posted a message indicating that they are going through with it or will be attempting. Hit send! Tumblr administration will perform a number of actions to contact the user and take the necessary steps to prevent the suicide.

TUMBLR: THIS COULD SAVE A USER’S LIFE. PLEASE DO NOT IGNORE SUICIDE THREATS.

Reblog this to keep other users aware. Suicide isn’t a joke, and neither is someone’s life. If you didn’t know this, someone else may not, either. Pass it on.

FIRST OF ALL, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING SUCH A MASTERPIECE!!! Thank you for pouring all the time you have and all the feelings into this beautiful work! This is so so good and I can feel every bit of it as I went on reading! Okay also, can I just say that the playlist you made fits so well with the story? Though admittedly, I’ve stuck myself with “Wasteland Baby” the majority of the time.

But really, this whole piece is so so good and so well thought out. The pacing was really well done and the way you described everything was wonderful as well! I, as the reader, felt everything you’ve written I can’t stress this enough and I literally had to stop at times to just collect myself from all the feelings. ESPECIALLY WHEN IT’S CONFIRMED THAT WE’VE BEEN COUGHING SWEET PEAS- I literally lost my miiiiinddddd!!!!!! Also, the way you described the scenes????? That scene in particular, paired with wasteland baby, just had me tearing up a little- I CAN’T.

Summary: Non-Fatal Hanahaki AU. Feelings are fair game for nine months out of the year, but God forbid you develop a crush during Hanahaki Season; three months of coughing up petals just because you’re in love with someone who doesn’t love you back? It’s a damn inconvenience. You haven’t had an active Hanahaki Season in the four years since you started YouTube, and you think that since you’re in quarantine, not going outside, not meeting new people, you’ll be fine this year too! Except that you start playing Among Us with a group of people you’ve never met before, friends of friends, including the elusive Corpse Husband, who’s kind, and funny, and may be flirting with you, but you’re not quite sure. The point is, you make friends with him not expecting much beyond a streaming buddy, but then you get talking more often, chatting and joking at all hours in DMs, and he’s calling you sweet nicknames on stream, and you wake up on the first day of your Season coughing up flower petals and cursing yourself for falling for a man who’s first name you don’t even know!

You’ll have to excuse me for not knowing the others too well, I’m embarrassed to admit that I only really watch Ze and Corpse often in terms of Among Us streams. ANYWAYS, please let me know what you think, I hope you like it! if this ever gets to corpse himself im going to delete this entire blog, just as a warning. no backups. yeet.

Hanahaki Season was different for everyone. No-one’s quite sure what evolutionary advantage there is to coughing up flowers for three months out of the year as the body’s way of dealing with perceived unrequited feelings, but, much to the entire world’s collective irritation, it was what it was. It begins for everyone when their first romantic feelings arise and aren’t reciprocated. That could be as early as kindergarten, wanting to hold hands with one of the kids in your class more than any other person, but watching them share their launchable with someone else, though middle school is most commonly where those feelings become strong enough to actually activate the bloom. Some people on the aromantic spectrum don’t activate it until their late teens, or college, or even later, and even then they may only experience it once or twice, since the situation in which they find themselves developing romantic feelings like that doesn’t occur often, or doesn’t occur during their Season. You’re kind of jealous of aromantic people who have never had to deal with it. 

Hanahaki Season lasts for three months, starting every year on the same date; the date you’d first ever had romantic feelings strong enough to start hacking up flower petals. You’re free to catch feelings for the other nine months without consequences, but watch out if you catch feelings around your Season, because your house tends to look like the opening of Ouran High School Host Club. The amount of flowers really varies depending on your feelings; you’d spent days putting professional florists to shame in the month leading up to your senior prom when you realized you had feelings for your best friend, right up until they asked you to go with them, and the petals had been gone the next day, but your smile hadn’t been.

Your body doesn’t care if they have feelings for you, all it knows is that you think they don’t, despite the feelings you absolutely, definitely have; it needs either a confirmation, or for you to get over it. 

You and your high school best friend had dated for about six months after prom, but decided that you were better off as friends, and thankfully, in the years since you’d started college, your Seasons had been a non-event; no romantic feelings, so nothing to worry about. It’s not that you didn’t go out, or didn’t date, it’s just that there was nothing serious enough to warrant an active Season when it actually came up.

Maeves: She used to make really scary carvings for pumpkins but those would 1) scare some of the kids away, 2) scare lucio/julian/valerius away (true story)- so now Maeves opts for a little more non-scary, detail-oriented carvings.

Soleil: Never really had a liking to scary pumpkin carvings herself, so she designs hers with more kid-friendly, simple, and cute designs.

Haji: This boy legit fails at anything scary- and carving. He tries though but if the carving doesn’t work, he’d try and get creative with something else.

For everyone else who wants to do this, go for it!

Just realized I never got around posting this so, here’s my child, Delaney Freeborne, for When the Night Comes! If you haven’t gotten around downloading/buying the game, please do! As well as the rest of Lunaris Games! Everything is just so good and I really recommend it!

To know more about the character board, just go right under the cut! It’s been a while since the game finished so I’m not sure what I shouldn’t be talking about so, probable spoilers up ahead!

Delaney was born when I started playing When the Night Comes. The overall feel of the board was centered around the concept of the game and my character. 

So as a hunter, they were called up to the town of Lunaris to solve a case that has gone too long unsolved. It’s a fairly lovely town, if just a tad bit eerie at certain places. All types of beings can be found in there; magic users, vampires, lycans, demons, you name it. Not far from the town is a forest where the killings takes place. As they stay longer and solve the mysteries involving the town, answers start popping up, and not all of them are as wanted when first sought out. 

*possible spoilers* Before becoming a hunter, Delaney lived in a town much like Lunaris. Their family had long served to protect, what with being knights and hunters for generations. For Delaney, they never really found staying in one place appealing, so training to become a hunter- much like his aunt, seemed more fitting for them. And just like that, they were honored with being able to enter a school that made seemingly ordinary kids into hunters. They don’t remember much of the process after they were chosen but as long as they become a hunter, it didn’t matter. After arriving to Lunaris however, they’re not so sure about that anymore.

It’s been hours since Soleil was thrust into a test of legitimacy prepared by the countess herself. “The hunt” or little chase that was ordered of her and two other guards around the palace honestly did not sit well with the apprentice. However, if she wanted to gain the woman’s trust, as well as to get her card back, she’d need to push through with this little game.
