Alcohol
Nothing made sense as you watch silently from afar. Not Minsik’s arms around her waist, nor did the environment of loud music and drunk people. In fact combining those things together only made the situation a lot worse, you rub at the your eyes angrily, wishing you could stop crying useless tears. You take a step forward aiming to confront him, but think better of it instead you leave and take the nearest cab back home. Your sobs were the only thing filling the silence of the cab as the cab driver drove you back, “Miss, I know it’s none of my business, but are you okay?” he passes you a tissue and you accept it, blowing your nose into it still sobbing. You stay quiet and the man doesn’t dig any further, you finally reach your home and take out your wallet to pay him, “I hope whatever is troubling you gets better Miss.” with that you closed the door and he drives away.
Dragging yourself into your shared apartment with him you lay on the couch and continue to cry. You couldn’t help it, the feeling of betrayal, sadness, and the loneliness that set in hurt. You shift and lie on your back, staring up at the ceiling you tried to only think of fond memories between the two of you. You awake to the door opened, groggily you rub your eyes to see Minsik drunk, barely able to hold himself up straight. He sees you and staggers over, “Jagi…” he falls on top of you. He smelled like cigarette smoke and you could see the lipstick stains on his neck, along with a forming bruise. You couldn’t help but stare at it, unmoving, the dark purple color reinforced the disappointment and sadness you thought would fade.
Your throat gets tight and your eyes start to burn as you fight off the urge to cry, knowing the drunk Minsik won’t understand at all. He kisses you sloppily and you let yourself get dragged into it, wanted to forget the image of what you saw between him and the other girl earlier. You feel him roll off of you and fall onto the ground asleep. His phone, on the table, lights up and vibrates, on the screen it shows a picture of some girl in a skimpy bikini. Tears welled up, realizing that tonight wasn’t the first time he has cheated on you, you didn’t want to not confront the problem this time and unlock his phone to go through his messages. You find messages dating back over two months ago, when he was on tour with the others. You look away from his phone and down at his sleeping form, your heart constricting in your chest. You type the girl a quick text and set his phone back on the table. You don’t bother wiping the tears away this time and get up to pack your things. When Minsik wakes up the next morning his head was pounding, and he was confused as to why he was on the ground, instead of the bed with you. He stands up and starts for your shared bedroom, when he noticed his phone, unlocked and open on the messages still. Last sent message “Good luck in life, he’s your problem now.”
