Q. What was your hardest day?

The injury in Leverkusen. It came at a time when I had more confidence, when I felt more like myself and above all it marked me because there are still after effects. So I got the tattoo on my wrist: “Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will .” Following a tip from my father, who always told me that if I could hold on and stay on the pitch then I would stay, and until they took me out on a stretcher, I tried to hold on until I couldn’t any longer.  It was difficult because I had seizures and I threw up seven times before reaching the locker room. When I sat on the stretcher I was trembling and I couldn’t move nor they could give me an injection. I couldn’t feel my arms or my legs. But the worst was when I saw my father worried to see me tremble.

Q. You’ve been named the leader of next decade’s Atlético with Koke and Oliver, do you see yourself as a rojiblanco for life? When you are happy, you have minutes and all goes well, you see yourself at the team, God willing, until the end of your career. But in football you never know, there may be injuries, a coach who does not give you minutes … If it’s just what I want, yes: I’m at Atlético since Atleti B and if I could stay this way I would sign a lifelong contract.

Q. Your childhood idol From Atlético, Torres. I always liked Gerrard too. I asked Manquillo for his shirt and I want to get it framed.
