Happy April!
Autistic perspectives matter!!!
I have something I wanna say - no one has a right to speak for the whole autistic community. Autism $peaks certainly don’t but nor do I or anyone else. Everyone’s experience of Autism is individual and so are people’s opinions toward it. However, sharing your experiences of autism & opinions is vital in building the community and changing how autism is thought of across the world. I hope I’m adding my voice & experiences to the community but if you feel differently (so long as you are being respectful towards others) to my posts that’s also fine! I am only speaking for me & my view.
Your voice and your experience matters!!!
(Please be kind & respectful towards others though, I do not tolerate abusive comments or threats - thank you)

Well, he wrote that scene and he wrote [the song] “Harvest Moon” in the script, and the amazing thing about that is “Harvest Moon” is a very expensive Neil Young song, and this is a lower budget movie, which did not have a music budget for a song like that. But that song meant so much to John, and the first time I read the script it was in there. So you’re picturing “Harvest Moon,” and if you didn’t know it, you would play it, just because that’s what I do. I want to see the music that’s in the filmmaker’s head and he would not stop until we got that song, and he’s like, “Who do I need to talk to?” And sure enough, it’s in the movie. And that scene was so important for him, to have the moment where you see the two of them connect or not connect, depending on how you’re looking at that moment when they’re dancing and the look on her face, the look on his face to really see the baby in a real way for the first time. You see that she’s pregnant earlier in the film, but this is like the real moment where they’re together. - Andrew Form A Quiet Place (2018) dir. John Krasinski

“Sophie, the girl, is given a spell and transformed into an old woman. It would be a lie to say that turning young again would mean living happily ever after. I didn’t want to say that. I didn’t want to make it seem like turning old was such a bad thing — the idea was that maybe she’ll have learned something by being old for a while, and, when she is actually old, make a better grandma. Anyway, as Sophie gets older, she gets more pep. And she says what’s on her mind. She is transformed from a shy, mousy little girl to a blunt, honest woman. It’s not a motif you see often, and, especially with an old woman taking up the whole screen, it’s a big theatrical risk. But it’s a delusion that being young means you’re happy.”
