Hello leftist communities of Seattle, Bellingham, Everett, and other Washington cities: please take a moment to consider attending our tentative “funeral for America” protest in Bellingham WA, this July 4th:

So, me and my friend, as well as most of my friend group, have been really depressed lately over the state of our country, and what started as a little joke between us through text, has quickly developed into an actual plan for a protest! We had been talking about the 4th of July this year, and how we aren't going to celebrate it due to how perverted it's message has been made by the election of trump and his administrations plans for America, and she jokingly suggested we wear all black that day to make a statement. We laughed and joked about what a spectacle that would be for a bit, and then it hit us. It WOULD be a spectacle... a spectacle that could actually make a very poignant statement if it were to be executed in reality, perhaps in the form of something like a protest! We discussed how we could all write eulogies about the United States and why we mourn it, and we could hold a Victorian-esque funeral precession, dramatics and all, somewhere in Bellingham where people could observe and spectate on it, to protest the bastardization of the country and our constitution! We would be effectively holding a funeral for patriotism, making a point of its failure in the face of its perversion! So, after an hour of talking back and forth, we have made tentative plans to hold an actual, genuine protest somewhere downtown in Bellingham on July 4th as an act of defiance and protest towards the Trump administration and the collapse of our government, in which we would gather friends, family, and other willing participants, and we would dress up in all black and find a spot to hold: "a funeral for America". They have begun reaching out to the local trans community they’re a part of, I've been contacting city officials to see what our local protest laws are, and we've officially begun structuring our plans to organize and hopefully execute this protest come Independence Day! We would be honored to recruit attendants, like minded members of the community, someone who also wants to see our country improved and saved from the throes of fascism, attend with us and act as a liaison and a voice for our protestors! I was wondering, if we’re free come the 4th, and willing to skip local parades and celebrations and instead contribute to making a statement to help out country and our vulnerable communities, if you'd consider attending with us? This isn't finalized yet, and is still in its infancy of planning, but I do think that if me and my friend do manage to organize this, it could be a real statement and could contribute to inspiring real change and consideration! Thanks for listening, I'll keep you all up to date :)
