Here Lies Lucanis in Skully’s World State, a simp for wyverns until the end 😔🕊️
I would love to say Lucanis gets to live into his elder years in my world state, too. Alas, he and Rook get about 15-20 years together before one of them kicks it. That said, I’ve not yet decided how they go, but I do have a few options in mind, so come with me on this journey:
In one timeline, I do have visions of the pair of them going out in the blaze of glory they narrowly avoided in Minrathous at the very end of their time limit. After all, there’s always another BBEG to fight and a Veilguard reunion when they’re all in their 40-50s could be fun, honestly. Give them a spunky new chosen one with too many quips to die protecting or something. More dramatically, I can also see this just being during a faction war or something, too.
Related to the last point, if Lucanis goes first because of infighting or a house war or someone finally takes him out via a contract, Selora dies making a point about it. Primarily because this would be the exact scenario they would have been working to avoid (they’re basically spending the whole time bailing the proverbial water on a ship that keeps trying to sink itself anyway) so she’d be in “If I’m going down, I’m taking you all with me :)” mode. V dramatic, no one is left unscathed.
The ending I’m more partial to for her is that she gets to grow old and gray after Lucanis dies of natural causes, remembering Lucanis as he really was for her nieces and nephews and godchildren, and looking after the coffee farm that was always their pipedream for when the dust settled in Antiva. In my head, it exists on the land that used to be the Dellamorte vineyard that was burnt down by the Antaam. While Lucanis was alive he re-employed all the remaining people to work on converting it and it’s where they spent a good stretch of time during a specific period that was significant to her for reasons. Anyway, the idea is that she eventually dies there in her sleep, finally retired and not giving af about what’s going on elsewhere, knowing that’s what he would have wanted for her. Because, trust, if anyone tries her, they’re as good as dead, but I imagine, in this timeline, she leaves with a fair amount of good will and a ton of scary dog privilege from multiple sources. She’s going to live out the rest of her days unbothered and in peace 😤 Perhaps even surrounded by the family she didn’t have at the start of her story because I’m sentimental~
I have not yet determined how Spite figures into these scenarios, but these are the likeliest outcomes for Rook! (Currently. There’s every possibility I come up with something else.)
Btw I’m really curious about this, but do y’all know how your rooks die? Please tell me about it??
In my world state I know Lucanis gets to be a ripe old man before he’s finally eaten by Cafecito, his pet wyvern. But Gin? Rook’s fate is a mystery to me. I am only capable of picturing them alive and either scheming or smooching Lucanis
#a very smol part of me is sometimes tempted to give them an alternare ending where they get everything they ever wanted and live long lives#(*alternate. i’m not retyping all that in mobile)#we don’t listen to that part v much but it does exist#because. i love them.#but something something things are sweeter for their ephemeral nature#tw death#oc: selora de riva#ship: selcanis#headcanons

to be honest there has never been a fictional character i’ve actually wanted to date. like. i want them to date each other. i don’t want myself as a person to be involved in this scenario whatsoever. what would i add to this narratively? what’s my thematic purpose in the narrative? immersion breaking.

Harding gets the job done
So long story short- @annfirestar made a very very true post and when I got to drawing for some reason I got the biggest "the Giver" by Chappel Roan energy from it... here we are. Hope I did the idea justice!

Useless Veilguard fact of the day: Day 143
The game has a plot flag that checks for whether the player has completed the Regret Prison. The plot flag is used in two dialogue files: Taash's battle cries (they get special battle cries for romanced Rook which I posted about here), and in banter between Neve and Harding that isn't accessible in the shipped version of the game.
You can listen to the banter in the video below (source: Party banter [Neve & Harding] | Dragon Age: Veilguard by DanaDuchy on Youtube).
Harding: Even now. Part of me doesn't believe it. Harding: About him being gone, I mean. Neve: Yeah. Funny how that works, isn't it? Harding: It never seemed like Rook wanted to talk about it, and I didn't either. So we never... said it. Neve: Saying it out loud makes it real.
Check out the tag for more useless facts: #useless davg fact of the day!
