Welcome to our Fall round of Sterek Fests!

Sterek Fall Fest will run from September 1st - October 5th in celebration of Fall, whether you enjoy drinking every kind of pumpkin spice drink or visiting a pumpkin patch every year. There’s a little something for everyone!

How to Participate:

Participating in Sterek Fall Fest is easy and stress-free! This is a no-commitment fest where you can participate as little or as much as you want. Participate in one week and none of the others if you so fancy, or participate in all of them! There is no minimum word count for your fics. We have an AO3 Collection for you to post all of your creations in!  This fest is open to both Fic and Art, so create to your heart's content!

How to post:

You can post your creations to any website that you want, as long as they are viewable to the public, whether that’s Tumblr, LiveJournal, DreamWidth, or our AO3 Collection. @sterekfests so we see your creations to reblog them. We can only reblog on Tumblr and Re-Tweet on Twitter (we are @sterekfests on Twitter also).  Use the tags #sterekfestsfall2024, and #sterekfests for generic tags. For weekly tags: #sterekfestshayride, #sterekfestsapple, #sterekfeststailgating, #sterekfestscabin, #sterekfestshalloween

Late Posting:

Late posting is always welcomed! The collection will stay open for late submissions. You can find our Summer 2023, Fall 2023, Winter 2023, Spring 2024, and Summer 2024 collections also if you’d like to add to those collections.

It's Happening Again Stiles always knew there was a chance the fox would return to consume him one day, to finish the job. As the years went on he quietly made preparations just in case something bad happened, but when the fox finally returned, no one was prepared for the sheer destruction it wrought... least of all Derek. The fox used Stiles to summon a rift into the void, tearing through Beacon Hills and devouring everything in its path. The only way to stop it was to stop the fox, to stop Stiles. That was something Derek was never prepared to do until he found Stiles' carefully prepared instructions. If Stiles wasn't able to sacrifice himself in order to stop the fox, then the instructions were clear: it was up to Derek to sacrifice the love of his life in order to save Beacon Hills and everyone in it.

“In 1984, when Ruth Coker Burks was 25 and a young mother living in Arkansas, she would often visit a hospital to care for a friend with cancer.

During one visit, Ruth noticed the nurses would draw straws, afraid to go into one room, its door sealed by a big red bag. She asked why and the nurses told her the patient had AIDS.

On a repeat visit, and seeing the big red bag on the door, Ruth decided to disregard the warnings and sneaked into the room.

In the bed was a skeletal young man, who told Ruth he wanted to see his mother before he died. She left the room and told the nurses, who said, “Honey, his mother’s not coming. He’s been here six weeks. Nobody’s coming!”

Ruth called his mother anyway, who refused to come visit her son, who she described as a “sinner” and already dead to her, and that she wouldn’t even claim his body when he died.

“I went back in his room and when I walked in, he said, “Oh, momma. I knew you’d come”, and then he lifted his hand. And what was I going to do? So I took his hand. I said, “I’m here, honey. I’m here”, Ruth later recounted.

Ruth pulled a chair to his bedside, talked to him

and held his hand until he died 13 hours later.

After finally finding a funeral home that would his body, and paying for the cremation out of her own savings, Ruth buried his ashes on her family’s large plot.

After this first encounter, Ruth cared for other patients. She would take them to appointments, obtain medications, apply for assistance, and even kept supplies of AIDS medications on hand, as some pharmacies would not carry them.

Ruth’s work soon became well known in the city and she received financial assistance from gay bars, “They would twirl up a drag show on Saturday night and here’d come the money. That’s how we’d buy medicine, that’s how we’d pay rent. If it hadn’t been for the drag queens, I don’t know what we would have done”, Ruth said.

Over the next 30 years, Ruth cared for over 1,000 people and buried more than 40 on her family’s plot most of whom were gay men whose families would not claim their ashes.

Stiles Stilinski x Derek Hale

To say Derek was tense was an understatement. Biting Stiles wasn't an easy decision, he knew how much the boy wanted to be human and taking the decision out of his hands was a trigger from the Nogitsune's time that Derek never expected to trigger.

But the fight was difficult, cruel and when broken bones became the least of the problems in Stiles' medical condition, time began to run against the pack.

So Derek did it. He saved the boy he had tried to keep away for years, with lies and growls. With a bad mood and "disinterest". He could not lose his anchor, his Mate.

The problem was that since Stiles woke up and realized what he was now he barely reacted. He avoided looking everyone in the eye, answered concisely and just followed Derek to the loft after being released from the hospital.

Derek's wolf was restless, uncomfortable watching his beta and Mate walk through the loft to the large windows with a smell of sadness and conformity emanating from him. He silently approached the boy, even though he could now hear his movements with his enhanced senses.

"Has it always been this beautiful?" Stiles caught Derek by surprise with that question.

"What?"

"The world..." Then a wide smile appeared as Derek watched Stiles accept his wolf. The fangs came down first and then the golden eyes glowed, looking at the whole new world through the windows. And at that moment, Derek smiled too. Feeling a happy warmth in the pack bond between him and Stiles, and in years, the born werewolf allowed himself to hope.
