The neuro shelf prep is kicking my butt. I've been squeaking by with high-pass on most shelfs, but I'm not confident AT ALL about neuro.

Out of NICU 2 weeks ago. I sure do enjoy general paediatrics more than neonatology. 3 months into NICU i forgot most of general peds. So evenings are spent in relearning old stuffs and catching up on the missed 3 months of general paediatrics.

yesterday i went to milan to see my friends, originally i had to go to see a studio flat but since i don’t even know if i will need it the the landlord has other people who are inter i cancelled the visit and just hang out with my friends.

during the train ride i studied a little chinese and did some research for job hunting in the field i’m interested, think i will do a notion page where i analyse job and the skills they require so i know what to focus on, i already noticed that i really need to invest in learning chinese since i found more than one job as a product designer that asked as an additional language chinese or german so i think after i return from holiday i will search for a chinese teacher, this way i will learn faster and really see if i’m making real progress. if any of u know a good website/app where to find a teacher please let me know!

now i’m waiting in a cafe for a friend and studying a little chinese.

officially started studying for my medical school board exams today! i am definitely easing myself into it though as i had brunch with a friend this morning, did a question set, then watched poor things (loved it!) with another friend in the afternoon. i’ve been using breaks and evenings to get some baking in and have really been enjoying being able to bake without feeling pressed for time with clinical rotations as well!

Working in the emergency department is just:

- Seeing 5 people with colds who shouldn’t be here

- Someone with diabetes who just chugged a Big Gulp Soda

- Mystery Abdominal Pain

- An old person who fell and somehow broke every bone in their body

- Seeing the happiest healthiest baby ever with parents who look like they haven’t slept in 3 days because the baby sneezed (I don’t mind these patients - cute baby, knowing the cute baby is cared for, and easing people’s worry? Great time)

- Someone who got in a car accident 2 days ago and just now decided to get checked out and is about to learn about whiplash

- Someone who didn’t try any OTC medication for their symptoms before coming and is about to get the most expensive Acetaminophen & Ibuprofen of their lives

- An interaction that changes your life; that leaves you with a deep sadness but also hope and a certainty that despite everything, in their hearts people are good and want to love one another

- A 3ppd smoker with diagnosed COPD who decided today is the day to figure out that cough they’ve had for 5 years

- Homeless people who just want to get out of the elements and have a snack you want to help but can’t

- Someone who will scream at you for not prescribing antibiotics for a viral infection

- Someone with 13 heart stents who vehemently denies any heart problems because “they fixed it!”

- Someone who just invented a new way to take medication wrong
