  Obong Celestine B. Etouwem is the Managing Partner of Basil Ford Consulting.  He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria. In addition, he holds degrees from the University of Nigeria and the University of Calabar. Celestine initially trained with Akintola Williams Delloite before joining Mobil Producing Nigeria, an Exxon-Mobil subsidiary company in Nigeria. In 2006, he was recruited as the Director General of Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation, a multi-billion Naira investment agency of the government of Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria.  He has served on the boards of many companies including an insurance company, a mortgage bank, a marginal oilfield company, a housing corporation and several manufacturing companies.    BFC can be described as the lengthened shadow of Obong Etouwem as he moderates the firm’s programmes, using his wealth of experience, to ensure excellence in service delivery.

About Basil Ford Consulting
Basil Ford Consulting (BFC) was established in 2008 to provide management consultancy and manpower development services to the business community. In these areas, BFC relies on the cumulative and diverse skills of its principal executives to offer exemplary professional services.
The company has been involved in business reactivation interventions, acquisition of major utilities, the identification and establishment of green-field businesses, the development of industrial strategies for a State Government, the sourcing of venture capital, the interpretation of complex financial statements and the management of a mixed portfolio of investments. Based on its experience, the company now specializes in the development of Business Plans.
Today, Basil Ford Consulting has twenty-five well-researched ready-made Business Plans for sale. The price for each Business Plan which is complete with financial projections is N10,000 only. The exception is the Business Plan on Trawler Fishing which is sold for N250,000. The Business Plans are:
​Electric Bulbs Manufacturing. LED energy saving bulbs and compact ​fluorescent lights are now in vogue. These could be manufactured at a ​total project cost of N22 million.
​Wire Nails Making. This project is the production of 1”, 11/2”, 2”, 3”, ​4” and 5” wire nails. The estimated cost of equipment and working ​capital for three months is N33 million. ​​
​Toilet Soap Making. Taking advantage of the availability of raw ​materials, good quality toilet soap could be produced. The ​estimated total project cost is N74 million. ​​
​Oil Palm Fruits Processing. As a major oil palm producer, there is need ​to have the capacity to process fresh fruits into edible oil efficiently and ​make money in the process. The estimated project cost is N18 million.​
​Cassava Processing. This project presents a good opportunity to make ​money from a major food item in the country. The estimated cost of ​equipment and three months’ working capital is N28 million.
​Tourism. The potentials of tourism are not exploited in Nigeria.​A cruise vessel estimated at N150 million and a Coaster Bus are ​the two major capital items required to start this venture. The ​estimated cost of the project is about N175 million.​
​PVC Plastic Pipes Making. The raw materials are available locally. ​Every building needs PVC pipes for plumbing. The project cost is ​estimated at N123 million, 50% of which constitutes working capital.
​Bottled Water Production. This project is to produce 60cl and 75cl ​bottles of water. The project cost is estimated at N42 million. ​Nestle, UAC and Coca Cola are some of the big names in this business. ​There must be something in it for these companies to be involved.
​Poultry Farming. This is a good family business. There is always ​demand for poultry products such as eggs and broilers. The cost ​estimate of this project is N19 million including the initial stock of ​1,000 ​broilers and 5,000 layers.​
​Poultry Feeds Production. The cost of the equipment for this project is ​estimated at N7.5 million. Other cost items will bring the total project ​cost to N25 million.
​Sports Viewing Centre Operation. The major item is the Club House ​containing the Viewing Centre estimated at N19 million. The big ​screen display unit is available at N4 million, bringing the total project ​cost to N23 million.
​Biscuit Manufacturing. Biscuits are made out of flour, eggs, yeast and ​sugar. These materials are available locally. The total project cost is ​estimated at N35 million. ​
​Furniture Making. First grade household furniture is always in ​demand. ​Import the right equipment from Turkey or Italy to ​produce excellent leather chairs and office furniture. The project is ​estimated to cost N99 million. The equipment component is only N44 ​million. Other items of cost are land, factory building and ​working ​capital.
​Shoe Making. There is demand for shoes by children, men and ​women. Shoes for military and para-military personnel are also in ​demand. With N25 million, a shoe making factory can be set up. This ​is a lucrative business because of its low overhead cost.
​Grasscutter Farming. This is a small business one can set up on the ​side. ​The feed consumed by grasscutters is grass. The project cost is ​estimated at N1.7 million only. ​
​Solar Inverters Production. The problems with public power supply ​are being solved with solar energy. Start this business now and take ​over power supply in many urban and rural communities. The ​estimated project cost is N15 million. ​
​Ice Cream Production. Ice cream is a delicacy enjoyed by the young ​and old. With N30 million you can start this business. ​
​Ethanol Production. Ethanol is used in blending premium motor ​spirit. It is also used in the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries. ​You ​can produce ethanol from cassava or corn. The equipment which ​is available locally is estimated at N17 million.
​Mushroom Farming. This is a small but profitable business that one ​can undertake on the side. No equipment is required. The set-up ​cost is estimated at N3 million. ​
​Bee Farming. This is another small business that will run with ​minimal supervision and bring in income. The projected set up cost is ​N170,000.
​Woven Sacks Production. Woven sacks are used every day as ​containers ​to move goods from place to place. The estimated project ​cost is N67 ​million. Additional N30 million will be needed for three ​months’ working capital.
​Matches Production. Matches are used daily in the homes. There is ​a ready market for this product. The turnkey project cost is N56 ​million.
​Traditional Cuisine Services. One can establish a food chain preparing ​and serving indigenous dishes across Nigeria and make money. The ​estimate of project cost is N68 million for one branded outlet. Included ​in this amount is N50 million for land and building in a good location.
​Trawler Fishing. This is a big enterprise to explore the riches of our ​marine resources, specifically shrimps and prawns. It involves the ​acquisition and operation of 5 trawlers and 30 supporting boats. The ​estimated project cost at this level of operation is N2.5 billion. ​Foreign partners would be interested to invest in this business.
​Hydrated Lime Production. This is a product used in water ​treatment. ​It is also used to decompose sewage sludge. The total ​project cost is estimated at N35 million. This cost includes cost of ​buildings, ​project equipment, generator, motor vehicle, furniture ​and office equipment.
These Business Plans were conceived to provide the entrepreneur a quick easy guide to specific areas of industry he or she might want to venture into. Each plan carefully describes the project and provides a market analysis that establishes the existence of a gap in the demand and supply of a product for a new producer to fill. The production process and the plant and equipment that should be in place are discussed. Project cost estimates are provided as well as the cash flow projection.
The entrepreneur is expected to adapt the Plan to suit his peculiar situation and to extract the profitability ratios in accord with project parameters.
