it’s always a pleasure to hear new hessle audio cuts as label never stops exploring new territories. furthermore houndstooth’s very special call super is on the same mission too. now backed up by beatrice dillon no words needed why i’m happy to hear their joint journey at the 10-year old bass music output. ‘inkjet’ is a cavernous trip into the unknown fuelled with synthetic fragments, while ’fluo’ is just a masterpiece of pulsating harmonics and blending minimalistic melodies on an ethereal space drive. the funk is strong with this one.
if you like fluo, make sure to check call super’s previous opus of the same kind earlier this year on dekmantel.

this week’s metalheadz show hosted by sp:mc on rinse was a true blast from the past. kid drama aka jon convex (and 1/2 of instra:mental) alongside friske were throwing the finest deep and dark tones that warped me back to the golden era of drum’n’bass! you get a high concentrate of classic samples and beats in these freshly forged hypnotic steppers. solid gold. while i was chasing nearly everything that was released in the berlin epicentre of the dub influenced techno movement, i was also reaching out to the deepchord camp, the sub driven soulmate in detroit. their handful of releases have launched the second wave of the dubtecho stream. the short living label's essence was carried on by co-founder rod modell while taking the name as artist name. well, now 15 years later, the other deepchord founder is back on plastic on sullivan's mighty mosaic! it's so good to hear the dubbed out chords of mike schommer again, the sound that is fresh, playful and full of joy. expect not a tired copy of a copy or a retired hero, anamnesis is something you have to have on your shelf of essential dub influenced techno pieces. welcome back!

the excitement of grabbing the brand new 12″ in recycled paper sleeve never fades away. two decades ago it was the trademark of the berlin dubtechno innovator label group, so fluxion’s first releases on chain reaction came in the same bag. (i’ve always loved mixing these chord heavy tracks, hear this from 2001 w/ jan jelinek, fluxion, maurizio, tikiman, etc) i also remember my first deepchord vinyl from the detroit dubtechno output, so you can guess how happy i was seeing classic fluxion tracks in deepchord remixes. rod modell shifted the ‘multidirectional’ pieces into cavernous dreamlike sequences that give extra depth and warmth to these classics. 300 copies limited press on 10″ marbled record only, don’t sleep on this!

with a 12″ per year klaus is not the most productive producer, but when his name finally shows up on a record, it ends up on my shelf. he have been silent in the past thee years so you can imagine the speed i bagged the 4th instalment on his own label ‘tantrum’. in fact, i didn’t even have to hear the cinematic soundscapes that make you glide in the vast spaces of this three-tracker. beautiful beautiful abstract harmonics that i wish to hear much more often than once in every few years.

the time has come for a repress of lemzly dale’s 2016 grime monster! the militant madness of high octane claps and nuclear synths, with a super skunked out sunken remix on the flip by the bristolian badmen kahn&neek were pressed in 500 copies only. until now! there are a few more copies to bag (rwdfwd, redeye, etc.) so don’t sleep on this sector 7 sounds gem again!

detroit funk from switzerland surfaced in hungary, that’s the culture clash i like. i especially like when a fresh tune revokes the golden era of the floating futuristic techno that flourished from motorcity. the a small drop of acid is really the icing on this delicious space cake. if you want to hear the rest of the blorp 003 ep, have a listen here.

call super to live up to his name keeps delivering outstanding material. the houndstooth regular celebrates amsterdam’s dekmantel with an epic soundtrack for deep space exploration. on the flipside of this sci-fi beaut is a more to the ground (or more four to the floor) techno cut for the dutch collective’s 10th year anniversary. go and grab all ten 12″s to have the full celebration set. (vinyl only)
