WHATS NEXT?
As the end of the semester, my blog has been of great use to me. I have been able to learn the inside scoop of blogging and how to work the system. Although, I enjoyed posting and viewing other bloggers feed; I plan on discontinuing my blog after the semester.  As summer approaches, I hope to spend more time offline and more time outside being active. Throughout the semester, I have spent a countless number of hours consumed by screens and technology. So, with all hope, I want to spend my days outside and enjoying life. When composing my blog posts, I have learned more about mental health, and I feel more confident in my dreams and aspirations of becoming a psychologist that is focused on helping people have a different approach to mental health. Thank you for the time you have spent reading my blog posts, I hope that you learned something!

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or Medication?
Prescription drugs in the Psychiatry departments have always been a controversial subject. The effects of the medication leave patients in question as to why they should be taking them. Psychologists have prescribed medication based on the "chemical imbalance,"  but further research has discarded this theory. Now, the remaining question is what alternative form of therapy can perform positive benefits without medication. Down below, I have gathered useful information regarding research in psychology.

NO TRUST IN THE SYSTEM
According the CBS News, the pharmaceutical industry and your doctors have ties. As a matter of fact, pharmaceutical companies give doctors money to promote their drugs. Even though, the industry’s medication can benefit a users lifestyle; the industry can also cause harm to a users lifestyle. When doctors help promote drugs for money , the doctor would most likely prescribe the promoted medication rather than the most suitable medication for the patient. CBS News states, “Some doctors make tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of dollars a year beyond their normal practice just for working with the industry." Thankfully for the Sunshine Act, we are now able to view how closely our doctors work with the industry. The pharmaceutical industry holds a lot of power over our society, whom relies heavily on drugs to “cure” their mental, physical, or emotional illnesses. In fact, the pharmaceutical industry has knowledge about how our brain functions and how easy it is for human kind to form addictions. With that being said, why does the industry make drugs out of substance similar to upper drugs ? Despite the fact, that our society has been taught since childhood not even to try any form of drugs because even one dose can cause addiction. The reason is because the industry wants us to be hooked on their drugs for our money, so they create such addictive substance so we keep buying them. And who do we go to for our health? The doctor. So, it is a no brainer why the pharmaceutical industry works so “closely” with the doctors.

MENTALLY ENSLAVED OR MENTALLY FREE?
No one will ever understand the beautiful complexity of the mind. -Tasha Hayes
Do you ever feel like your life is held hostage by uncontrollable waves of burden? Do you crave the feeling of diving in and taking control of the waves that control your life? What is there to be afraid of? Life comes and goes. Be the creator of your destiny; don’t let your thoughts run your life. Don’t be afraid to take risks because one day you will reflect upon your life and wonder what your purpose was.In that case, what is your purpose? According to the blog, “Dream Catcher Reality”, we view life as a hologram. Our society has become so mentally draining that we don’t have the time to think for ourselves. Instead of teaching the people of society how to take control of their thoughts/emotions, we are taken advantage of for our money by the pharmaceutical industry. In fact, the Statistic Portal claims that the pharmaceutical industry “is expected that a  total number of pharmaceutical sales in North America will come to around 574 billion U.S. dollars in 2019″. Although, the pharmaceutical industry gives these pills five stars there is a few catches that the industry forgets to tell you. First and foremost, CNN states that “drugs are the leading cause of death in this country” the pharmaceutical industry is more deadly than the great white shark. Comparatively, we should be more afraid of the pharmaceutical industry. Many psychologist prescribe these prescription drugs based on the “chemical balance myth” even though the side effects can be quite fatal; patients without a question consume these drugs. Scientific American addresses that “Chemical imbalance is sort of last-century thinking. It's much more complicated than that,”  quoted by neuroscientist Joseph Coyle of Harvard Medical School. In reality, it is time to take control of our lives. Even if you feel mentally unstable there are ways to cope with your existence because you are PERFECT IN EVERY WAY SHAPE AND FORM. The first step in taking control of your emotions is BELIEVING IN YOURSELF!!!!
