For @batarouweek 2022 - Day 8: Free Day! An extra day that didn't have any specific prompt, so I just drew Garou on a hero hunt and not realizing that he will catch himself a boyfriend (and a soulmate).

This is final contribution from me for this week this year. It was nice to draw actively something for it, and I want to thank @senseearly for organizing it. And thanks @paperficwriter for reblogging these pieces to the batarou week blog here on Tumblr.

The Coffee Shop at the End of the (Alternate) Universe (Day 5 of Batarou Week)

So this was originally the piece I wrote for the Batarou Zine I put together some time back, and it seemed relevant! Also you did not miss Day 4, I’m still working on it, but I still wanted to post something up. Enjoy!

The little cafe and coffee shop - Metal Bat Brewed Beverages - had belonged to Badd’s parents, before the accident. When they died, Badd was only sixteen, and he begged his uncle to keep the place open, just two more years until he could transfer ownership to himself. The man had refused at first, but…nobody could say ‘no’ to Zenko.

Even at twenty now, the early mornings still made him yawn as he took out the leftover pastries through the back door. There weren’t many; just the store-bought extras that they had for back-up so they wouldn’t run out.

He didn’t see the guy with the white hair crouching in the alley until he opened up the dumpster, about to toss everything in. “Whoa! Ya scared me, man.”

“Do I look scary to you?” Badd couldn’t tell if it was a smirk or a sneer on his face. What he did know, though, was that he licked his lips when he saw the box of pastries. “Are you just going to throw that out?”

Badd’s gaze shifted from his hands to the man, then back again. He didn’t look great, that was for sure. Thin. A bit dirty. There were tears on his black slipper shoes, and he wasn’t wearing a coat. “Yeah,” he said, after a second. “They’re stale. Why?”

“Because we could just skip the middleman.” He reached out a long arm, dirty fingers beckoning to Badd. “C’mon. Hand ‘em over.”

My entry for Batarou week day 5! Alternate first meeting where Badd lands in Garou’s arms instead of meteoring to the ground next to him. Based on this concept.

Day In and Day Out (Batarou Week Day 3)

When Garou came to live with Badd, the hero resigned himself to having adopted another animal rather than living with a partner. It was accurate at first, with how Garou prowled around, situating himself wherever he liked (even if it wasn’t in a place he had been invited to be), taking things that he wanted without asking, and lazing the day away while Badd went out to pummel monsters.

Of course, the good part was that in many ways Garou was as affectionate as a pet too. When Badd came home, he met him at the door, excitedly rubbing against him, regardless of his gross state. He crawled into bed with him, resting his head on his chest, nosing at his neck and ear and insisting that he pet him until they both fell asleep. And there was humping, but…Badd didn’t exactly use rolled-up newspapers to handle that.

Days off were a bit more complicated.

“Garou, I gotta clean up the apartment.”

“Noooo…stay in bed with me.”

“This is the first day all week I don’t gotta patrol! Zenko’s gonna kill me if it gets any worse.”

Garou let out a thin, high whine, latching himself onto Badd’s body. Somehow he had managed to keep the human monster’s hand out of his pants but now he was literally wrapped around him with all his long, tight limbs.

“Fine.” Badd used the deep stores of energy that he usually got paid to employ and hoisted himself out of bed, Garou in tow. “Have it your way, Stretch.”
