"Tha's cuz he likes th' rain then. He didn't do it out of spite but he wants t' feel rain on his skiiiin. Don't ya, baby? Yeah, y'do~."
❝My boy doesn't control the weather, if he did it'd rain a lot more.❞
It made him happy to run around in the backyard while it rained, kinda weird, always made him drenched to the bone. But it was worth it if it made his son happy, even if they both came in getting water all over the place. Placing the puppy back on his lap as he returns his attention to the tv, saving and closing his game so he could hop over to the weather report.
❝I need to get stairs for him so he can sit in the window. What's the point in having a bay window if he can't get up there? Now say sorry to him for assuming he did it and was angy.❞

"I gave her like three pizza crusts. She doesn't control the weather. She just makes m'bones hurt. Tha's different."
❝So you blame my sweet baby instead, I see how it is.❞
Pausing his game and setting it aside, he picks up his son- crazy how he fit in one hand.
❝Say that you're blaming him to his face coward. Look him dead in his eyes and tell him you're mad about the weather he has nothing to do with. Do it. He just wants to enjoy the rain falling, and take a nap while I get my ass beat by crimson kuchisake-onna.❞

"Babe, sit down f'er me. Sit down. Mhm. I know, 'm dressed real cute, but I changed m'mind I saw a video that pissed me off so I need t' tell ya th' entirety of th' Five Nights at Freddy's lore, okay? Okay, cool."
❝Okay, I'm sitting.❞
Crossing his legs as he does so. Not exactly the night he thought he'd be having, but whatever right? Everyone has their interests, and sharing them with your partner was important. That's what he thought, that's why he would go on little tangents and rants about bats and movies.
❝Base question before you get started, what the fuck is that?❞
Five nights at who's?? Clearly it was a show, or a movie, maybe a game...? But not one he knew. They had very different interests at times.

"We're gettin' another storm... and a warnin' f'er a tornado... what th' fuck did y'feed our baby and piss him off enough f'er that, huh? Why'd ya do it?"
❝He likes them, I don't know what you're talking about. Blaming my son for a storm when you live in tornado alley.❞
Probably the only dog that likes thunderstorms, no whining, no barking, only excitement. Letting go of his controller for a second to pat the puppy on his stomach, he was blame free. He was just hanging out, being a little guy, watching his father exorcise yokai.
❝Blame Agape, she's probably mad at you. Didn't give her a piece of your sandwich, I'd be mad too. Betrayal for real.❞

❝Well, he hasn't been asking me for one. He's just been asking me a bunch of shit about the process, and what cars are good. I can tell him about the process, but when it comes to "which cars are good" I have no clue. I feel like it's a... buy based on your needs kind of thing, not "well Mason said this car was good so I'll go for that.", cause I could be entirely wrong. He could need something way different.❞
He knew generally what Asher had going on, but when you get your own car, and have that freedom, things change. He knew that Ashe wanted space, space enough for him and his friends, but aside from that? No clue. That's why the idea of buying Eros' father's car came to mind, it seemed like a good starter car. It had space for other people, and apparently good tune ups, no clue what that meant really, but hey it sounded good.
Reaching over to his phone screen to tap at the next button as they drove, one of the few things that worked in this car still- the radio and the weird cassette tape aux cord thing. Yeah, it was gonna be really nice when he didn't have to use a cord that was actively dying and falling apart to listen to his music. Fanning his new son with an old letter in the console just in case as they come up on the gas station, unbuckling his seatbelt with a realization.
❝I'm gonna have to be that guy.❞
The guy who brings his dog into places dogs typically weren't supposed to be. At least he was a puppy, right? And a small one at that, brushing the notion aside, there were way more people who brought their large untrained dogs into walmart. Lifting the puppy up as he gets out the car, making sure to walk around and open the driver's side from the outside- that hairtie and hot lever probably wasn't something Eros wanted to touch right now, and who could blame them? Holding open the gas station door as he waits, only following in after Eros.
❝Will you grab his water and me a yellow redbull while I get this?❞
Specifically a yellow one, never any other color, the other ones weren't good. Setting his son on the floor- just for a second! Holding the lead while he fishes out his wallet at the ATM, fetching his card and plugging away. A sigh of relief as the machine's limit is higher than two hundred.
“ Oh, I know I c'n. I jus' – y'know, he should still have some water. ”
The topic of online shopping is quickly left behind. After all, Eros only really gets stuff that he needs and can't find in store. Plus with how Alexi doesn't really like using that sort of site, it isn't an issue. He'll tell if there's something needed or if he's been craving some specific treat they can only order from elsewhere, but that's about it. Nothing to really bother with other than that.
He really can't imagine the sort of stuff Mason's mom ends up getting or why. Does she just get it to get it? Eh, whatever.
For now, he'll follow the directions that the phone is giving him so they can get to the gas station and then to the dealer. He'll need to get money out and – Eros kinda wants something to snack on anyway. Something quick and easy that he can get rid of the trash for once they're actually doing things. Something small.
“ I bet he'll like it if he's been askin' f'er one. Apparently um – m' mama she was like a mechanic? So there's some good tune ups on it or – good f'er th' time. S'real nice, I liked gettin' t' go f'er rides when I was jus' a li'l thing. Passed out every time, though. Guess tha's why we went on ‘em. Made it easier t’ sleep. ”
Even if he'd always end up in Alexi's bed one way or another. It was much easier to sleep with his father by his side. Sleeping alone had just – it had always been hard. Suppose that was also part of why his father had gotten him so many stuffed animals. Helped keep him in his own bed.
Or maybe he didn't really mind, either. He'd never say anything or try to put him back in his own.

❝It's not a problem. It'd be weird if it was considering Sydney is trying to become a therapist.❞
Yeah, maybe they looked like they wouldn't be understanding going off appearances, but try to find a more accepting group of people in the south. The only time he could think of that they didn't seem as kind was when Asher "made fun" of him for being bi, but even then it was just a joke they had between brothers.
❝She's doing good at it too, she's very helpful. Not in a lecturing way, but she has helped all of us get better about various things, like for me? She's the only reason why I've started to try and voice my thoughts and feelings, instead of just sitting with it and going "well this is just gonna turn out bad, and I'll get yelled at again if I speak".❞
“ I guess tha's true… she does have a job – a workin' girl. ”
Most places didn't complain when she was with him so – it'd be weird for anyone to at just a standard dinner. Besides, even if she wanted to get attention when she wasn't doing her job, most people liked dogs… didn't they?
“ No, she's well behaved even when she ain't workin'. Most she'll wanna do is sniff around and what not, but tha's really it. I could put her li'l vest on, she really likes when I get t' put that on her. If – y'er sure it won't be like a bother, I guess. I jus' don't wanna make an issue or nothin'. ”

❝It is a mistake. Last time I visited her she had so many fucking packages just laying around, not even opened, just laying about. Her and Arron shouldn't be allowed to have access to stuff like that. I was talking to my aunt, not even that long ago actually, and she said that ma is just addicted to online shopping. To the point where she was struggling with some bills, or something like that, owed money somewhere or to someone. Anyway that's not here nor there.❞
Raising a hand and shaking his head as if to stop himself on the topic, he could go on and on about how his mother and her new husband were, how much he struggled to understand them. How much he struggled to even speak to either of them at that, given all that had happened in the past with the both of them. Crossing a leg over the other as he lowers his hand, shifting just enough to pull his phone out of his pocket.
❝You know you can go into the dealership right? You don't have to sit out here in the car when we get there. You shouldn't either, there's not really a lot of shade at lots like that, and I don't think they're gonna mind him hanging out in your arms while I'm doing stuff.❞
That's what the lobby was for, for people to get started, and for people who were waiting for their oil changes and the like to get done. Still, he wasn't going to not stop at a gas station, he needed to go to an ATM too now. Tapping away at his phone to find some stop on the way, turning up the volume before setting it on the console.
❝I think I'll just leave it as a surprise for Asher. He doesn't need to know. He can find out when he gets home.❞
Eros could put up with the heat because he already tended to dress – well, like one would expect someone to in the summer. Unless he was at classes or work, he was basically bare with how little he wore. It was just good that it could be acceptable when it was this hot all the time. He did miss wearing his nice fluffy coat when it had been way colder, though.
“ Okay, th' plan. ”
He nods, adjusting himself so he could get the car to start. He'd need to know where to go first, but all the same.
“ I think that'd work, he jus' has no use f'er it so I don't think he'd mind if y'got it f'er Asher. When he was over f'er dinner, he was very polite, so I think Daddy likes him enough that we c'n do that. Not that he'd say no, but all th' same. ”
Another nod as he looks at his phone for a moment. Just getting through messages so he can text his father. More nods before he looks up at Mason, his head canting to the side. He'd never understand the relationship as well as somebody who did have a sibling, but it was definitely nice to see that Mason cared. That he loved Asher and wanted to help him out with things like getting him a car.
“ Yeah, if y'give me directions we c'n go there first. We should prob'ly stop at a gas station or somethin' t' get th' li'l guy some water, though. If s'gonna take awhile it'd be better t' make sure he has somethin' t' drink. Then we c'n go get all th' other stuff. ”
At least if it became scrap, they could melt it down or whatever. He – didn't remember what little Clara said they tended to do with it. How that little girl knew more about the topic than a grown adult he still didn't understand. But – oh well, suppose it had to do with what her dad did.
“ Okay - dealer, pet store, home. Uhhh – prob'ly cash, actually. Y'know Daddy doesn't really like a lot of online banking or stuff, he says it makes him nervous. Tha's why I wasn't allowed t' have like an Apple phone, fun fact. He's not a conspiracy theorist or anythin', but he really did not like Siri when she first released. I think cuz he used to work with computer and mechanical stuff with Ma b'fore she passed? Tha's – neither here nor there, though. Point is, he'd like physical cash so he can walk with his old man cane down t' th' bank and see Miss Shirley t' put it in his bank… old people havin' access t' buyin' stuff on paypal seems like a mistake, actually. ”

❝It's not being that person. She has a job, let her do it.❞
That was the point in having a service dog, wasn't it? To bring them with you everywhere so they can be helpful like they were trained to be.
❝It's not like she's gonna be bouncing off the walls, at least I don't think she would be. You can bring her with to the house, no one's gonna be bothered by her hanging out, especially if they know she's a service dog. If she has a little vest saying that she is one I'd put it on her, just so you don't have to tell everyone as they come in.❞
“ I do like lizards. ”
Eros gave a small nod at the thought. Getting to meet a cute lizard and possibly making friends was nice. Eros had – well, he had a few of them. Not a ton, but enough. Nat and Luka had been most of what he thought he needed for a really long time.
“ Tha's cute, like how Agape has her li'l bandanas and she likes t' pick different ones. When we were goin' out earlier, she even picked out which goggles she wanted f'er our outin', oh it was so cute. I – should prob'ly bring Agape if we're doin' sometihn' that has a chance t' be overwhelmin', but I also don't wanna like – be that person that brings their dog everywhere… ”

Understandable summer was HELL on earth right now, and the season only just started. Cons of living in the south right? He was used to it, didn't mean he didn't still sweat his ass off- of course he did, he was always wearing darker colors and layers of 'em-, but it wasn't that bad anymore. Not when you've had no working AC for the past two years, something he put up with, but now that he often drove Eros around when they hung out, and now that he had this little guy, that just wasn't gonna work anymore.
❝Okay, so here's my plan then:❞
Adjusting in his seat as he pulled out the cardboard from between the frame and cranked the window down just for some kind of airflow for the puppy.
❝Asher's looking for a car right now, normally I would give him mine 'cause that's just what you do as an older brother, you give your younger brother hand-me-downs. For obvious reasons I can't do that. I could, but I actually love my brother, I'm not gonna fuck him over like that. So I'll pay your dad for his for Asher, and just get a new one for myself 'cause I do have one in mind that I'd rather get.❞
No doubts that Eros' father's was nice, he'd seen it before and it looked to be in good shape, but this just made more sense to him. That way Asher didn't have to deal with going to a dealership and not knowing what he's doing, if he's getting a good deal or not, cutting out the need for a loan entirely. He'd rather pay someone he knew for a good used car, than teach him how to deal with all that other stuff. It was hard being the father and mother of your baby sibling, truly a full-time job even when he's technically an adult now.
❝We should probably go to theeee dealership first. It's a longer process, and we don't wanna be there all day. Especially if they're going to be interested in buying this piece of shit, or if I'm going to have to figure out a buyer that takes them for scrap. That way we don't have to worry about moving bags of stuff over, I'm still gonna need to get a bunch of the shit out the console and the glovebox, but that's it. Can't keep anything in the trunk as you know, it'll just melt or get fucked up.❞
Yeah, it kinda felt sad now saying sell it as scrap, but at the same time? At least if it was used for parts it'd be of some use after him, and not just rotting and rusting in a landfill. It was way past time to get rid of this car, but he needed that push, and apparently that push came in the form of a little puppy.
❝Then after we can go by the store and get all his stuff. He's gonna need a lot, we don't have anything at home. I didn't buy anything either, like I said I was nervous that I wouldn't connect with anyone, and didn't know what I'd come out with if anything so... Just didn't prepare. After that, we can go by and see Agape. Does your dad want like cash, can you ask him? I mean probably, but you never know. My mom buys shit with paypal and venmo, that's a bad habit of hers actually from what I hear.❞
“ I think most people get hysterical and cry over puppies, but I mean – yeah, man. ”
Even if he's snickering about it and giving the other a gentle push. Not enough to do anything, but all the same. Eros had, after all, started bawling when Alexi told him Agape was really theirs to come home with after her training. That he could have an actual honest to God dog. And she wasn't even just a workin' girl! She was his best friend for as long as he'd had her.
He laughs gently as the other spoke, getting the door unlocked and into the seat. It took a bit of effort to remember how to close the door properly, but he managed to get it all the same.
“ Yeah, we c'n go t' th' Petsmart. Get some stuff… would y'beeee averse t' takin' him by th' house so Agape c'n meet her new baby brother? ”
He taps the wheel for a moment or two. Waiting.
“ I mean, y'could prob'ly give him like two-hundred and he'd call it square. He didn't even want ya payin' in th' first place. And s'a pretty nice car, I jus' don't want it cuz – y'know, moped. ”
A little shrug before he was canting his head again. A new car he was looking at? That was right, he said it wasn't the money. It was the attachment he had to this one. But now with the little void pom, he was definitely going to want something better. When he'd first gotten his moped, he'd had to make sure he could have a sidecar just for Agape to come with. She loved riding in that side car with her little goggles and her bandana.
Coolest dog on the block.
“ Mas. Baby. Love of m' life… I would love nothin' more th'n t' have air conditionin' in this heat. ”

❝Oh, you'll love Edward, he's great.❞
Everyone loves Ed, who doesn't like bearded dragons? Especially ones that are so polite with it. Never has Ed caused any issues, except when he wouldn't eat that one time he had to feed him- but that was just cause he hates crickets, not Ed's fault.
❝He's got little hats and everything. Susie loves to dress him up, and he seems to like it too. He really loves his little top hat. Super cute. And, again, like I said if it's too much you can just hover around me. Help put stuff together. I will say this though, if you, Sydney, and Susie get on well, they'll probably try to steal you away. Annddd you will have their numbers immediately, you get a day off and have no plans? It's girl's night now.❞
“ I'll keep that in mind. ”
It made him all the more nervous if he was going to have to talk a lot, though. But – at least Mason was giving him tips? And if he ended up needing a minute because he was overstimulated they'd be understanding, right? His partner would at the very least.
“ Okay. Well – I wanted t' see Ed anyway, so tha's fine. I like gettin' t' see people's pets. S'real nice seein' th' dynamics and things like that. I mean – cuz y'know… not everyone's th' same with ‘em. I love Agape and th’ triplets t' death, but other th'n you and Daddy I'd have t' explain that ‘m not really blamin’ all m'lost objects on Agape. ”

❝I'm not gonna cry for real, not in here. And what? Let that be their image of me when they talk to you? Be your hysterically sobbing boyfriend?❞
Jokingly teasing as they make their way out. He really could cry, like come on, who wouldn't cry over a little void pom puppy? Especially one that is now yours! One you didn't even need a second to bond with, love at first sight at whatever on both ends. Carefully moving his arm holding the papers to adjust the lead, an "awh" escaping him as the puppy licks his hand.
His attention returning to the question at hand after a second. Mulling it over in his head for a moment... He could drive, it'd probably be easier since he knows the ins and outs of his car, but also this was his day. It'd be fine if he got to sit in the passenger side with his new son.
❝Well, he does have a name, but I'm not keeping it.❞
Ah, another reason to not drive. He couldn't think of names while he was focused on the road.
❝Youuuuu... you drive.❞ Yeah. ❝You know the way to the petsmart or petco, whatever fucking one we have here, I don't know which it is.❞
He probably should know, considering it's on the bags Susie would bring home for Ed. And with how many times he's had to feed Ed it should be stuck in his head, but it was lost information. Offering a "thanks" to the person holding open the front door as he passes through. Shuffling the papers under his arm to his hand, placing them on top of the roof to open his door, collecting them once again just to drop them on the dash.
❝I'm gonna have to get a new car now. I can't drive this little guy around like this, especially not in the summer. What's your dad want for his old one? I know you said free, but I gotta give him something.❞
It was only right that way. It was an act of kindness on his father's side, but you always repay those. That's what he was taught. Ducking into the seat, pulling his seatbelt on.
❝Or, there is, of course, going to the dealership and getting the car I was looking at for the past few months.❞
Tilting his head as he offers the other "solution". He made it clear many times that he was able to buy a new car, that it was never a financial issue, not when he had been saving for years and working two actually surprisingly lucrative jobs. Maybe less so the bartending gig, but still.
❝How badly do you wanna get out of this shitbox and into a car that has actual air conditioning?❞
“ Okay, ‘m waitin’ here. ”
Eros looks down at the crate where the little void is staring at him through the little bars. Oh, he was just the cutest thing! He definitely understood why Mason had saw him and started melting over him. That was how he'd been when Alexi first been looking at puppies for him. Finding a good breeder and then finding a group of puppies – yet, Eros had fallen head over heels for little Agape back when she'd been named Stephanie or something like that.
He'd gotten so excited when he got to take her home, too. Even if he'd been older than a child, he'd still been over the moon. Taking her to the pet store and getting her treats and toys and all sorts of things. Even if Alexi had been in charge of actually training her, he'd done his part too. Sometimes he still missed when she was so itty bitty.
His attention turns as Mason comes to pose with the papers. A quiet laugh escaping before he claps his hands for the other. It's the best he can do with how little he can hear properly.
“ Let it all out, dork. ”
As they start heading out, Eros gives wave to ivy and wishes her a good day before they're heading out of the room. Yeah – he'd be happier when he didn't have to risk overstimulation to hear the other talking. Once they were out, he pulled one of the earplugs out and gave a nod, getting the keys and holding them up.
“ Want me t' drive or hold uh – no named son here? ”
#🩸 / the ominous wheelchair always lurking in the background#lovesfolly#🩸 / its his day he gets to have michaeellllll who will not be named michaeellll and maybe a new car 👀

❝'Course I'll read it.❞
Shaking his head as if that was ever gonna be a "no thanks" or a pass. Especially if Strawberry was going to have her little moment. He had to support both of them, and to see how the character she inspired was going to be. Even if he hadn't helped with the bat facts, and they had met some other way, he'd be interested. Vampires were his entire thing.
❝The show was really good, I need to watch the second season, I've been putting it off. I know they already announced the third season, but my brain is like "well, if you wait to watch it then the wait for the third season is shorter", which is true! But it also makes no sense, I'm waiting either way. I need to find some other vampires to fill my time with. There's that game, um, Evil West or something. That's what I've been playing. There's vampires in it, but I haven't gotten very far. A lot of the monsters in it that I've seen are just like weird abominations. Like test subjects almost, kinda like Frankenstein-ed together.❞
It was good! But it wasn't what he had been expecting. He was thinking like Van Helsing, the one Hugh Jackman was in, god what a movie, and it was... close. Kinda. In it's own way.
❝I don't know how I feel about it. I don't get to play it often since I've been working nights at the bar, on top of working at the conservatory, so it's just kinda there. Think today's the first day I've actually had time to do shit in like a week, so doing all this has been really fun.❞
Billie laughs again. "I suppose I can let it slide. A button-down is probably as formal as you'll need to get anyway."
After all, her events weren't big public parties like some of the other authors under her publishing house - due, in large part, to the anonymity she tried to hold so close.
"Mine aren't huge or anything - I think I mentioned that I write under a pseudonym, so I never do like signings or readings or stuff. They're usually just launch parties with my team, and maybe some of the other writers who publish from the same house that can be trusted to keep their mouth shut. You won't be expected to read the book, because only the team will have really. But I'll get you a copy when it's finished if you want one."
Him reading it at all would be super sweet - doesn't matter how long it took. Billie knows that what she writes is not to everyone's tastes, so if he ultimately decided not to, it wouldn't matter.
"That is a surprise. Different strokes, though, isn't that what they say? You're so right though, the Interview With a Vampire show was so good. And such good casting choices." This is paired with a dreamy sigh.

❝It'd probably open another wave of questions.❞
Knowing her that little fact wouldn't stop her interest, only bring on another one. She was a crafty person after all, what was learning to make clothes added to the pile of other things?
❝You might have to prepare yourself to explain how you do everything. If it gets to be too much, or if you think it'll be too much just from the idea of it you can just act like you're helping me cook. She'll lay off if you tell her, or if she sees you're doing something. You WILL have to see Ed though, that's a requirement for everyone who visits.❞
“ It really is, I love it. ”
It was nice that they had it in common, actually. Two people that really liked cooking and getting to take care of something for others. Though – given Alexi was older it was usually Eros cooking and cleaning up after.
“ That sounds nice actually, gettin' t' be th' pretty thing on th' counter instead of th' one cookin' f'er once. Hah… ‘m a li’l nervous but ‘m really excited, too. I know that y’talk about ‘em all th’ time, but I haven't gotten t' meet anyone – oh, geez. I wonder how she'll feel when i tell her I make most of it. But – yeah, I think it'd be a good time. ”

❝As you should!❞
Always leave it to the professionals, even he wouldn't try to corner one if one got in. Knowing so much about them aside, any wild animal inside was not something you wanted to try and get yourself. Not even a little mouse, those things could bite hard and who knows what kind of infection you could get.
❝Yeah, you'd think they'd be the worst carriers of it, but it's really a small number. On the other hand though, they are the main cause of rabies related deaths for humans in the states. Everywhere else I believe it's dogs that are the main source of deaths.❞
Really made you think about how dense the population of bats was in the states that they beat out dogs. That's probably a fact he should know, maybe one he'd look up later on his own times.
❝Did you ever read Twilight? That's kind of an unrelated question, I didn't, but I've seen the movies. I always think the "venom" or whatever they have in that series is kind of like rabies. You're bitten and you're just kinda fucked unless someone else comes along to help you.❞
"Yeah I bet."
Billie's mouth downturns into a frown. She too doesn't like to think of any animal, really, hurt and needing rehabilitation - but at the same time, she's glad they have the facilities here and the ability to be able to help the bats that they can.
She's not going to get super emotional about bats right now. She's not.
It's an easy enough resolve when Mason switches gears to her rabies comment.
"You do not need to worry about me trying to touch a bat. If one ends up in my place I am so calling someone else to come take care of it."
She can just see herself trying to catch a bat and startling it by accident - then they'd both be flapping about, and probably at least one of them would be making a lot of noise. Best to leave that to the professionals.
"The way rabies is spoken about, you'd think it would be higher huh?"

❝I'm getting her, I'm getting her.❞
Answering as he's already walking off, speed walking more like. Too excited really, a little urgency in his steps, as if his stride wasn't long enough already, and he's quickly at the room's door. Swinging it open and disappearing behind it. Fidgeting with the paper as he stands in line, a faint sense of nervousness creeping into his mind even though he knows that the dog couldn't be taken from underneath him- he was the one that had the paper! That feeling is pushed to the side as he's called to the front, the customer service voice coming out as he talks to the woman.
It's a few moments before he's opening the door to the dog room once more, papers in hand as he talks to the assistant. Nothing more than idle small talk about the shelter and the puppy he had chosen, a few "oh really?", "wow"'s, and a "I'll have to keep that in mind" for good measure before they're back to the wall of crates. A smile on his face as he holds up the papers and receipt, posing with them, for Eros to see as Ms. Ivy gets the right key. Stooping down once again as the door is opened, tucking the papers under his arm as he's beckoned to pick the little void of a thing up.
❝I'm gonna cry dude.❞
He was just too cute. Holding his out just enough to have the lead put around him, not that he'd be putting this sweet boy down for a good minute. Not until they got to the pet supply store at least, then he could roam around on the lead and explore. Offering a "thank you" and "you too" to Ivy as she wishes them a good day, quickly turning on his heel to leave the room again. The sooner he was away from the barking and whining the better, and no doubt the sentiment was shared by Eros if the earplugs were any indicator. Pushing the door open with his back.
❝Will you fish the keys out of my back pocket?❞
“ I've always liked th' idea of a bigger dog, but I like havin' Agape, she's a nice middle of th' road, y'know? Plus when she isn't workin' she's such a handful. Spoiled li'l old lady, too, let me tell ya. Always wantin' treats and attention. ”
Shibas were notoriously pretty stubborn, though. He remembered that Alexi had joked about it being a miracle that they even managed to get one. Not that Eros wouldn't have taken any other, but he'd more or less fallen in love with Agape specifically. Her big brown eyes and the lighter spots on her dark coat. The way her eyebrows looked more like little hearts. Everything about her had been perfect to Eros.
“ I've never watched somebody else's pet… but then – like I said we had Agape since th' doctor's decided there was somethin' wrong enough with me t' need a service animal. And then we got th' triplets a year or so ago… I had rats before Agape, though, they were sweet. ”
He did appreciate that Mason was so good with the animals, though. That he always asked before giving her treats or just some bit of food. She always seemed so excited to see him, too. Which to Eros was pretty funny considering she usually didn't like or pay attention to most people. She was pretty attached to Eros and even to Alexi at times. When his father was sick, she'd just lay on top of him like she was making him feel better.
His own thoughts are interrupted when Mason speaks, his head canting to the side before he notices that he's crouched down to look at something. oh. Oh, at someone. Dark eyes glance over the paper when he gets a chance before he's standing a little straighter. Oh. Don't move. Okay, he'll stay right where he's been told to. Nobody else gets to see the little puppy that has his boyfriend's attention. Got it.
“ Uh – are y'gonna want me t' stay here while y'get th' lady or – should I get th' lady? ”
