Week 15 | 16-05-2024
What's planned this week:
Final printing of the pencil case.
Printing some paintings for the exhibition.
Linguistic and grammatical check by an Arabic language expert.
Writing content for exhibition banners.
What actually happened:
This week was marked by several significant events, each demanding considerable time and effort to complete. Among these tasks was the printing on cloth pencil cases. Initiated since week 13, this endeavor encountered a setback due to issues with ink and graphic clarity. However, diligent research led me to a producer capable of addressing these concerns, with the order taking 10 days to fulfill. Upon its arrival this week, the quality exceeded my expectations, alleviating initial fears regarding size suitability.
Additionally, attention was directed towards printing select paintings on cork, a process requiring three days for execution. Of particular importance were pieces showcasing the package logo and distinctive characters like Salma, alongside a barcode for enhanced visibility.
The most challenging aspect, personally, proved to be the grammar check of all booklets. Despite initial apprehensions, securing the assistance of the adept Zahraa Al-Muhanna facilitated swift completion within three days. I remain in awe of her proficiency and am deeply grateful, especially as the errors, though minor, became indistinguishable through constant exposure.
Concluding the week, I meticulously crafted the final content for exhibition banners, ensuring its relevance for both the display and presentation to the jury.
If I keep the conclusion to the end of this blog, finally i can say I consider myself 89% finished from this project , thank God, and ready to print.

What's planned this week:
Final printing of cards for the clay game.
Work on the exhibition and determine the realistic size of the banners
Simulating the main package size, and modifying its design.
What exactly happened:
This week, several accomplishments were achieved. Firstly, I conducted a trial for the actual size of the package and adjusted its design to be more appealing to children. After confirming the ideal size, I prepared the package file and got it ready for printing, scheduled for Monday next week.
Additionally, I had already printed the game cards and placed them in heat-sealed packaging for protection. I also designed banners with the correct sizes and various layouts, incorporating the desired designs for them to be prepared for printing.
I also prepared the printing file with actual measurements for the illustrations that I want to stand out on foam board, for use in the exhibition.
Finally, I printed the fabric bag earlier this week, considering it takes a week to be ready at the library.

I initiated the design of posters to grasp the latest trend and how to integrate the Tashkeel identity in a manner that appeals to children and fosters enthusiasm. Moreover, I standardized colors, coordinated text layouts, and minimized deviations to ensure consistency across all books, preparing them for printing. I also enhanced the reading experience for children by refining and expanding the graphics.
Moreover, I designed a tote bag and pencil case.to do proceed with printing this weekend. Additionally, I strategized the organization of the end-of-semester exhibition and outlined the necessary steps to execute it effectively.

Week 09 \ 21-03-2024
What was planned this week:
Completion of the design of booklets covers
Package design in realistic sizes
Finish adjusting the colors
Start designing and writing content for booklet No. 3
What actually happened:
During this week, progress has been a bit slow. I attempted to tweak some colors in the visual identity to make it more vibrant and engaging. Additionally, I designed the package with realistic dimensions to ensure its fit over the weekend. I opted to completely overhaul the package as I felt it was somewhat oversized and impractical. Moreover, I finished revamping the brochure covers, making them more appealing to children, and applied the visual identity in multiple ways. The biggest accomplishment was starting to design the content for the third brochure and figuring out the page layout.
I feel like I've been making progress slowly, but I'm determined to ramp things up over the weekend and accomplish more tasks in the project.

Week 07 - 07-03-2024
What was planned this week: Finalize two book Content. prototyping printing for the package Planning for Instagram posts Submit midterm jury files
What actually happened:
During this vacation, I worked diligently to produce as much content for the booklet as possible, and I benefited greatly from the judging committee. I completed the first level and began working on the second level, which includes the booklet on fonts and the booklet on shapes. This experience was somewhat exhausting, but the result was worth all my effort. I gained a deeper understanding of the project, making it much easier to present ideas.
I was keen on developing the levels in an enjoyable manner, as it was my goal from the beginning. However, I faced difficulty in designing some pages in a way that would make them less complex for children to understand easily. I experimented with several printing presses, which greatly benefited me in achieving perfect results in the final print.
For me, I learned that the best types of paper for writing on are high-quality, thick, non-glossy papers suitable for displaying text and images. At the end of the vacation, I submitted half-chapter files, along with a presentation to the judging committee. The feedback I received was very helpful, as it assisted me in choosing the appropriate font size and designing the covers for the booklets, in addition to providing suggestions for developing other levels of the booklets.

Reflection:
On Monday and Thursday, I drew most of the pages of the first booklet for Level 1. I collected ideas and tried to implement them. I also modified the ideas and some font that were discussed with the teachers. I also wrote some content on the pages to understand the general atmosphere of the content. I was also a little confused about his approach to the booklet: should I make it three books or one booklet? I decided to make it into 3 booklets, I feel that it is the best method for the child when using booklets to avoid losing the papers and tearing them. This week, I also tried out ideas for packages with realistic sizes. I also drew and experimented with many sketches of the cover from the outside and inside, as well as how to arrange its contents.
I feel that this week is more productive than the rest of the week because I know the errors in the booklet and package and how to correct them.

What was planned this week: 5/2 \ Monday -Finalize branding
working on first books Content (Book pages)
8/2 \ Thursday
working on first books design(cover)
working on first books Content
Sketches on first books design (cover )
What actually happened: So far I'm advanced and organized in my following the schedule, and I've also finished developing the branding and preparing the design elements.
As for designing the interior pages of the booklet, it is definitely an important step, so I made many sketches. It seems that my direction for the booklet will be narrative, which will be a great option to reach children and make the booklet fun and interactive for them. Also taking into account the narrative context and story flow.
As for conveying instructions to children in a better way, this aspect was very difficult and scary, but I tried many methods that might be useful, such as: using simple language and interesting, illustrative images to attract their attention. Also, I discovered including interactive activities or questions to help them absorb the information. And interact with content better.

Decision \
I am happy with my progress so far in understanding and developing my project. I've completed important milestones like logo design and character creation, which is great. I also benefited a lot from the ideas I got from my colleagues and teachers, which helped me improve my work.
However, I don't have to start building a character system until I know their positions and how to use them effectively. In addition, I now have to work on designing a system for the identity itself, including the types of secondary fonts used as well as how to use the graphic elements interconnected with each other.

What is planned this week (according to your semester plan) on 1/22 | Monday :
mood board
Sketches for the logo on 1/25 | Thursday :
working on book
content
What happened specifically: 22/1 | Monday : To finish developing the plan, and start the manual sketches for the logo, I organized the mood board. In addition to doing a lot of visual research, I also tried to have diversity in the logo. 25/1 | Thursday : Start entering all manual sketches digitally, search for content and create a mood board for it, and also search for sources in books.
Results :
Your thinking about it (conclusions/decisions)
So far, I feel that I have done a good job because I have identified and created easy designs, such as the logo and other colors. I am confident in my design of the logo, and I am confident that the steps I have taken will come with great effort.
But now I feel tremendous and frightening pressure from not specifying the content for the booklets, but I try as much as possible to adhere to the schedule that I made and to take more time to search for the content before the design phase begins to make the steps more organized and easier.
