Detect evil but it becomes increasingly clear that whoever calibrated it had some really weird moral stances.

dishonored is just so amazing cuz like. what doesnt make it so phenomenal (at least to me) isnt its main plot. its the little things and all the bits and pieces of the world n the small stories you find while exploring that make it a fuckign masterpiece.
like. the main premise is admittedly simple. I'd almost say cliche. youre on a mission to avenge the death of the empress and find her daughter, putting her own the throne and restoring your name. like thats fucking GREAT obviously but
its all the other shit. the bits and pieces of the setting. the items you can find. all the little notes and books and corpses. all the things that you could completely skip over are what makes it an amazing game. like you could play the entire thing without learning about slackjaw and granny rags, or finding out that the rat plague was a product by the big bad dudes to weaken the economy and the empire. You could just kill everyone and not learn how many of your targets become victims of their own devices.
idk man the shits just. so good. i fuckign love it. theres so many things that just pile up and add up to this amazing picture. i always remember that one room you can go into in i think the second mission where you find two bodies at a table gambling, a note showing how one dude was winning, so you just piece together that they ended up fighting to the death. Or in the sewers theres two corpses that are holding each other, and a note saying how they knew they were dying but didn't want to be apart. Or the audiograph you can find in the empress's secret room where she talks about how much she cares for corvo. Or how once emily is safe you can go into her room while she sleeps and hear her dream about the outsider. its just. god.
