Under the esteemed leadership of Shri Nikhil Channa, President of the Child Education Society, and the dedicated guidance of Ms. Asha Prabhakar, Principal, Bal Bharati Public School, Noida, one of the best institutions of Uttar Pradesh proudly hosted the Inter Unit Bal Bharati Hackathon 1.0. The event was staged from October 24 to 26, 2024. This groundbreaking code fest, organized under the aegis of the Tech Council of the Child Education Society, marked a significant milestone in fostering innovation among students. In keeping with the recent inclusion of the National Education Policy, School held the Youth Parliament SankalpNeeti, on October 9, 2024, at Bal Bharati Public School. It was a momentous occasion that marked the beginning of an engaging platform for young minds to explore and discuss critical issues affecting the nation. The event was attended by students, faculty, and esteemed guests, all eager to witness the initiation of this significant initiative. Committees like The Rajya Sabha aimed at engaging young minds about the democratic process, giving them a platform to discuss and debate significant issues related to national politics The Rajya Sabha plays a vital role in representing diverse viewpoints and state interest, ensuring equal voice in the legislative process.The delegates participating in the committees acted as real representatives in the Rajya Sabha, exchanging the viewpoints on the topic “Impact of census data and caste census in India with its effect and implication on social policy and economic development”. The committee members had presented unique arguments for and against the topic according to their portfolios.

During the discourse, a group of students presented their views on the caste census through a survey that collects data about the caste identities of the citizens of a country. In India, caste has influenced the social dynamics and access to the resources respectively. There are opposing viewpoints about collecting caste data, one that supports it as it will help to identify and address the social inequalities, while the others believe that it can reinforce the divisions and entrench identities. The solution included an integrated economics program, establishing a feedback mechanism to enhance policy effectiveness and many other more.

Young future parliamentarians also spoke on the Uniform civil code (UCC) which proposes to replace personal laws based on scriptures and customs of religious communities with a common set governing every citizen. The UCC aims to ensure equality and justice on various different matters.The members had argued how it aimed to promote fair play and judgement. Supporters argued that implementation of UCC is essential for fostering a secular state where all citizens enjoy equal rights under government. While, other members raised concern about the potential backlash as it could infringe religious sentiments and freedom. They carefully advocated for an inclusive approach that respects cultural identities. 

Students also presented their views on Secularism which is a principle of separating religion from politics and governmental affairs, ensuring that all individuals regardless of their religious belief are treated equally under law. This framework aims to protect the rights of individuals and maintain harmony among diverse religious communities. Members actively argued how secularism helps to protect minority rights, while opposing members were concerned about the rigid interpretation which could undermine religious freedoms. The debate underscored the complexities of balancing individual rights and collective cultural values.

Arguments by the members representing real life parliamentarians highlighted the thoughts and views in a very systematic manner. As Kapil Sibal, the member had argued that the country’s diversity,especially in terms of religious and cultural practices, makes a single code unfeasible, killing the diversity present in the country. According to him it could undermine India’s pluralistic traditions. He advocates for reforms in the personal laws rather than just imposing a similar law.
As Hardeep Puri, the senior leader of BJP supports the implementation of UCC as it seems to be a feasible step for equality, unity and national integration. According to puri, having uniform laws regardless of religion would eliminate discrepancies in personal law and ensure equal rights for all. As Sanjay Raut, the representative expressed cautious support for UCC but stressed on a planned implementation of the topic. He said that uniform laws could be beneficial but it must be introduced with thorough consultation with all the communities to avoid any social unrest.

The proceedings of the youth parliament had emphasised the critical role of census date and caste consideration in shaping social and economic policies. The in-depth discussion on UCC and secularism reflected participants' engagement with foundational democratic principles. This initiative cultivated a generation poised to contribute to future India's democratic landscape.

This report summarizes the Committee Lok Sabha of SankalpNeeti 1.0, held on 9th October 2024 in Bal Bharati Public School Noida. The committee had delegates from different school and from Bal Bharati Public School Noida, along with a secretariate member who acted as a guest speaker, the delegates had acted as real politicians for the day and formally debated and discussed on a wide range of critical issues faced by India today, from secularism and infrastructure to legal reforms and environmental concerns, which was determined by the distinguished chair of, Mr. Kartik Deshwal as the Speaker of the house and Ms. Sanvi Srijan as the scribe and Deputy Speaker of the house. Shri Piyush Goyal raised the state of infrastructure development done and planned in India, placed on both urban and rural development needs, and how effective have the policies been brought by the BJP government.The members of the house thoroughly debated on Health infrastructure and implemented policies, debating their success rate along with the repercussions, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan answered to the allegations put up by the opposition leader Shri Rahul Gandhi, both members engaged in a verbal debate during the zero hour.

Dealing with another important arena, theLegal and Judicial Faults in Criminal Procedures, the opposition leaders Shri Rahul Gandhi, supported by Yusuf Pathan addressed the shortcomings in India's criminal justice system, improve efficiency and fairness emphasizing on the newly applied criminal laws in India, Bhartiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (BNSS), Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (BNS), and Bhartiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023 (BNA).

Highlighting the need for Secularism and Uniform Civil Code (UCC), the relationship between secularism and the proposed Uniform Civil Code of India was debated, with points such as balancing religious freedoms, the need for uniform laws were put up by the opposition members and how it would create a backlash on the religious communities as well as the Judicial System of India.

The young students gave reference to the fall of the Mumbai Airport and the issues surrounding the decline in services or infrastructure at Mumbai airport were highlighted, by Charanjit Singh Channi in response to Piyush Goyal who stated policies and work done in regarding the infrastructure development done in India.Discussing on the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC) the students raised concerns on the controversial CAA-NRC issues were debated, including their implications for Indian citizenship and potential impacts on various communities, bringing points of causing harm to fundamental rights of citizens of different religions, and how they might be affected by the implementation.

While highlighting the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and Educational Reformsthe committee examined the NEP 2020 and its proposed changes to the Indian education system, highlighting the implementation challenges and potential benefits that could be observed causing additional stress on the children along with the burden of studies.

Environmental Concerns with Emphasis on Ladakh

Environmental issues were addressed, with a specific focus on the unaddressed problems in Ladakh. Climate change impacts, biodiversity loss, and sustainable development in fragile ecosystems were key topics which the INDIA alliance raised during the zero hour to which the BJP government had a hard time responding, despite Shri Narendra Modi trying and encouraging other party members to respond to such allegations.

The need for the BNS was questioned and debated by the house where the Charanjit Singh Channi targeted the home minister Shri Amit Shah for bringing in such new law to which the Amit Shah responded on how the colonial criminal laws needed to be reformed and made new according to newly developed crimes and the 21st century. Potential problems in regard to implications of the new criminal code were put up by Charanjit Singh Channi to which the Nirmal Singh responded on how the new sections have been added that will help in solving the judicial proceedings.
