My mother in law tried to argue the point that in the case of George Nkencho the gardai’s actions were justified.

George Nkencho is known to mental health services and on the incident of his death, he had robbed a shop and stabbed a worker. While his crime was terrible, it wasn’t lethal like his punishment was.

What I have to say counts for a very small percentage of the race conversation in Ireland as I am white and thus have different experiences of the Irish system. However, I have seen first hand the discrimination that not only mentally ill people - but poc mentally ill people go through. I FIGHT every damn day to have my patient cared for properly by doctors who are in it for the money and you can bet your bottom dollar that I fight even HARDER for those who aren’t white.

I am graduating into a system that already has me tired, disillusioned and depressed.

I know that less than 15 unarmed (never mind people with tasers and pepper spray) people are needed to restrain someone with a knife.

The additional arms unit was not needed.

WHY HAVEN’T YOU GLOWED UP YET? ✨

Glowing up is far from easy and I would be a liar if I told you living your day to day life & remembering that your “that bit*h” was a walk in the park. Unfortunately society, family, friends, the people we meet and the sticky situations of life often want to prove us wrong and make us believe we are less than, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. As a woman, no matter what age you are it’s never to late to glow up, to change your life, change the direction, career or path and become the girl/women you’ve always wanted to be! As females we often fantasise about the ideal version of ourselves - but she only lives in our minds or on our mood boards, we never actually start working towards becoming that person, and the main reason for that is that we do not believe we can become our own dream girl and so much more, we see other doing it but we don’t believe it can happen to us - and I’m here to tell you it fu*king can!

Please stop fantasising and wishing you had the life of these social media influencers, the truth is we have no clue what there day to day consist of, nor do we know what they (really) go through on a daily basis, and although I don’t believe everything online is fake, a whole lot of what’s posted is just to save face! You don’t need a rich baller boyfriend, a rapper, althete or affluent man to become the woman you want to be, all you have to do is start doing the things that you know will manifest the higher version of yourself into your reality, weather that’s doing your skincare routine, getting counselling, working out, meditating, sorting out your finances, writing your business plan, organising your space, spending time with God, whatever it is, you already know, and you must start doing it today, you cannot afford to start next week, life is already happening and time is passing you by, the fortune, the success, wealth, the man & men, the cars, house, the public gratification, will come the quicker you start. - procrastination will only keep you in the same spot you hate and complain about. Remember beautiful, nobody is coming to save, Prince Charming isn’t on his way, you are your own hero save yourself!
