Sulli’s death is tragic and really upsets and angers me. She never did anything wrong but got hate for everything she did. The amount of shielding male idols got (& continue to get) for things like committing acts of violence to participating in sexual harassment infuriates me. Korean media is complicit in this—we know they’re bought by entertainment agencies to manipulate search rankings & pour out articles. Entertainment agencies are complicit too. How many times do they threaten to sue for negative comments towards their artists but actually do it? God forbid a woman doesn’t want to wear a bra but you’ll happily defend a man involved in prostitution and sexual harassment. She asked the questions that no one wanted to talk about. She defended woman from sexual harassment, abuse, and the double standards that woman both in music and living normal lives everyday. To all the people that bullied her, harassed her, made her feel like a outsider, the blood is on your hands now.
She deserves to be remembered for her boldness, the way she never hesitates to speak her mind, how unabashedly feminist she was in a heavily misogynistic society. She is and will always be more than this.
