Some lovely pictures have come in from Upton's new family - Upton (also known as Flumpy) was one of our longest stay dogs who was adopted a few weeks ago.
He is a lovely and playful dog, running around the play fields with other dogs. He spends most of the day with me as I am working from home now and loves going in the car if I have to go out. He is having the time of his life chasing squirrels and barking at local cats, settling down fine.

A bit of celebrity sparkle - Tara Palmer-Tomkinson and Sinitta were recording just up the road last week and popped in for a cuddle with one of our rescue dogs - little staffie Monkey.
Tara, a big pet-lover, was instantly down to Monkey's level and enjoying his excited welcome. It was difficult to catch a still moment of these two!
Although not as confident with dogs as Tara, Sinitta was also up for a little fuss and photo. She is pictured here with our Fundraising Manager Rachel.
The ladies are starring together in a new reality TV show, called The Jump, where they will be learning winter sports including the ski jump - hence the cute winter headgear they were both wearing.
Thank you to them both for popping by!

Best of luck to a team from Sainsbury's Odd Down who are walking from Bristol Cathedral to Bath Abbey today - a 13 mile sponsored walk. Give them a cheer if you see them en route.
We will be at the Odd Down store on Sunday asking for your spare change to go toward our Winter Appeal, helping abandoned and unwanted pets. If you are doing your shop, please choose Odd Down and be generous!
Thank you all for your support.

Judge the bulmastiff x, a real sweetheart, bonds very closely so would make a loyal companion. Seen here doing his best sits and downs for his carer - he'll pretty much do anything for a treat!

Our little office ewoks DJ and Jake had a groom yesterday, a big thank you to Becky from Just Paws who answered our call for help and came to groom them at the Home for free! What a lovely thing for her to do to help two of our dogs.
Their fur was matted and clumped and must have been very uncomfortable. DJ (more tan, first set of pictures) was particularly grateful for the makeover and really enjoyed the experience. Jake was more reluctant and has his grumpy face on!
DJ and Jake were adopted this morning and we wish them a lot of love for their new home.

Boo! Class No not a Halloween thing but our weekly socialisation classes for shy and nervous dogs. I went along as our Utonagan Bella was attending and her spirits are lifted in the class, and I wanted some nice photos for her online profile.
It was my first chance to meet her, as she is nervous of people. I let her come to me, and after just half an hour I looked down at one point to find her standing close next to me sharing my view. It sounds like a tiny step, but this is really very brave for her. She has come on in leaps and bounds with care from our behaviour team. Rosie - in blue in the pictures - is her main behaviourist and you can see the bond they have. It would be wonderful to adopt her and watch her blossom.
Also in the pictures:
Belle the tan staffie, who adores people but wants to keep her distance from dogs. She had to work so hard to be part of the class and did really well.
Floss the white bichon frise decided that she liked Belle, and was very good in the class.
Meg the doberman cross, such a beautiful girl. She really enjoyed being out in the paddock. Although shy compared to most dogs, she was actually the most confident in this group.
Meg has started to make friends with Scooby-Doo, the saluki cross. I could imagine this pair running around together as they gain confidence.
Beatrice, the black shih tzu cross was very curious about my camera, so I have lots of blurred images of her face coming straight towards me!
Our socialisation classes are open to the public and their dogs, find out more by clicking here.

Jake and DJ - two elderly shih tzus looking for a home together. They need a little TLC but are very good at having eye and ear drops given, they are responding well to medication - we couldn't see DJ's eyes before they were gummed shut. They have great personalities. Jake likes to go out and explore in the garden, and also a lap cuddle. DJ is more of a homebody and although takes a while to get to know you he would be so loyal to his owner. Real companion dogs.  http://www.bathcatsanddogshome.org.uk/rehoming/dogs/dj_and_jake/4155/

Bailey's carer snapped this gorgeous pic of him in his kennel with new rug. He's nervous of new people so you have to have a quiet home and really be aware of him, but such a sweetheart to his friends.

We are very pleased to say that one of our Paw Pals Upton (also known as Flumpy) is currently on foster with a new family. The foster is a long-term trial with adoption confirmed if he settles in well. Upton has been with us for over 7 years and is a big favourite for all staff, walkers and visitors.  We know that he has had difficulty settling into a home environment in the past, but now that he is older we are hoping he will make it work. Thank you to everyone for their support and kindness during his stay, and also to his new family of course!  If you have Upton as a Paw Pal, you will keep him until the new year and the donations will continue to help long-stay dogs who are still with us, such as Blake and Ollie.
