Pink Sports Project
The pink sports project has been a very up and down project with lots of times where I have been stuck with how the project is going to look and fell in the end. The project started of as an idea to help more women to start playing gold in bid to improve the golf industry we know today.
Whilst I was conducting my research I came to the conclusion that it is all sports women need to start playing more. Once I had done some more research I decided to apply the project to inspiring women to start playing more sports.
My next step was to come up with an idea that would encourage women to play more sport. In the end I came up with pink sports project a idea to use a cross collaboration between two different industries. The industry I chose is the retail industry, I choose this for a few reasons because it is a very lucrative market and also they popular with women.
Pink Sports project is a charity that works with brands to create one off pieces that can be sold as limited editions and a percentage of the sale goes to the charity. Once the charity has the money they then invest it into equipment and projects for women’s sports.
My end piece for the pink sports project is a marketing proposal backed up by all of the research I have done. I have also created some visuals of how the final project will work and how the charity will become successful.

Jaguar Land Rover Eco Brief
Jaguar Land Rover is the last of my three main projects; I have enjoyed doing this project. I originally decided to do this project because I want to go into the motor car industry once I leave university with my ideal job being a post graduate job at JLR or Sytner.
I initially did a lot of research into Jaguar Land Rover into what they need to do as a company and areas of the car industry they have missed. When researching I learnt that Jaguar Land Rover spend a lot of money into the research of electronic cars, what I found shocking that they don’t do any marketing for it or tell people about there research.
From my research I have created a marketing proposal of how Jaguar land Rover can break into the electric car market and get the word out that they can not just make petrol and diesel cars.
I am happy with the proposal I have made and how Jaguar Land Rover are going to break in to that market
Upon reflection I am very happy with my work and how my final major project has ended. I have been offered a Job at Sytner since starting the final major project. I believe the support from the tutor and the guidance we have been given through three years of university has help me change as a person and now I feel ready for the working world.

Palestra project

The last thing that I have done for the Palestra brand is creating a brand-marketing proposal. I have taken all of my research throughout this project and narrowed it all down to create a well-designed proposal.
I am very happy with the way this project has turned out and how my end marketing proposal looks and the content. I will now be taking the clothing into the gym clothing market my next move is to invest some money into the clothing and complete the website set up and social media accounts.

Final major project evaluation
Final major project has been a really enjoyable project from the very first day through to printing and set up of the final show. I have had lots of time through this project where I have become stuck and didn’t know how progress. Upon reflection I am happy with final project and how it has ended.
One of the things I have realized with this project is that I excel in the sales and marketing aspect of this course over design aspect. I am not the strongest graphic designer and this is reflected in the move I am making to the business world.

Palestra Social media accounts
Initially I would set up four social media accounts; Facebook, Instagram, twitter & Snapchat. All of the social media accounts will have links to all the other social media accounts as well as links to the website and app store to download the Plasetra App.
How to get the followers
Initially I would add all of my friends and possibly buy some email database in a bid to increase my following by a few hundred once I have 500 to 1000 I would start to do a couple of giveaway competitions, where people have to like and share the post to be able to win items of clothing.
Whilst trying to generate a following on the accounts I would select a few athletes that I feel would represent the brand well and send the some clothing in the bid they put up a photo wearing the clothing. If one of these photos gets published you can get thousands of extra followers over night. Once you get to a good number of followers it is then about maintaining the competitions and endorsements as well as having a good hash tag.
#Palestra would be my hash tag and when people buy the clothing and post photos they would be able to use this hash tag in the bid it creates a club like atmosphere between the athletes that wear the clothing and also my target audience who aspire to look like the athletes.

Exhibitions
Exhibitions play a large part in today’s marketing world but they are not always cheep in the first instance. This year’s Bodypower exhibition which is the main exhibition I would be putting Palestra would cost £3000 for the cheapest stand and then there is a premium depending on how big you would like the stand and where about it is positioned in the exhibition centre.
On top of the cost to rent the space you then have to buy an exhibition stand and the more expensive the more the stand will stand out and represent the company better. Exhibition stands start around £4000 and can go up to whatever price you are willing to spend. Then the last thing you have to think about is staffing the staff which is going to cost around £80.00 per day per staff member.
Although the stand has cost you over £7,500 for a weekend it is a great way to get the name of the brand out into the market and have hundreds of people viewing your products in one place. At exhibitions there is also a good opportunity to sell some clothing and make the money back you have spent on the exhibition although people who are exhibitions are looking for a deal on products so this will affect profit margins on every item you sell.
Initially for Palestra I would take the brand to a couple of show per year here in the UK with body power at the NEC being the main one. Then as the brand grows over the years I would look to take it to some bigger shows across the globe for example Mr Olympia in Las Vegas.

Endorsements are a huge part of all retail businesses a lot of money will spend a lot of money paying top athletes to endorse there products. Initially this is a lot of money to out lay without a guaranteed return on your investment. My first initial stance I would take as Palestra is to send athletes free clothing in the bid they will snap a picture wearing the clothing and it will be see by there following on social media. Then when the company has taken off and there is more money to spend on endorsement I would probably try to sponsor a top athlete that fits with the image of the brand.
Under armor endorsement success
Over the past two years Under Armor has seen a successful streak into the sport clothing market. Going from a small brand that is known for it’s under layer sports compression clothing into the best selling sport-clothing brand of 2016. In total Under armor spent over 2 billion USD at the start of 2016 in a bid to make the brand take off, and it did posting a 25% rise in the companies profits and a predicted 50% rise on profits before the end of 2018.
Under armor have been very careful about the athletes they have chosen and which items of the clothing they will help to sell.
Tom Brady & Cam Newton
(NFL)
Help sell their American football clothing ranges well as endorsing a couple of successful NFL teams
Dwayne Johnston
(Movie star, body builder & wrestler)
This endorsement is to help under armor sell a lot of the vests and training
T-shirts into the gym market. It also helps them sell there swim range when he has been endorsing them in the new movie Baywatch.
Jordan Speith
(Golf)
Helps them sell all of their golf range of clothing as well as any other polo neck or golf style clothing they may have
Anthony Joshua
(Boxing)
helps sell their boxing range but also there gym clothing ranges as he is seen as a very big muscly athlete
Under Armour have sponsored a lot more sports teams and athletes across all sports male and female. They have covered all sports and made sure the top athletes are wearing their products.

BMW iSeries
BMW have taken a very different approach to the electric car market, BMW decided to create a series of cars that are marked with the ever growing I logo. BMW have been very selective and cleaver with there first two cars they have released into the electric car market, they decided to release two completely different cars in the BMW i8 and the BMW i3.
The BMW i8 is a hybrid sports car that appeals to the rich with a price tag of £106,000. This car was designed for people with a lot of money who are worried about the carbon emissions.
The BMW i3 is the total other end of the spectrum in terms of cars it is a small car designed to be compact and practical. This car is designed for the city where speed is not needed and you can save money on you emissions.
BMW have done this very well by releasing two completely different cars it shows that they can create all types of electric cars and when there is enough of a need to create more they will.

Sugar Rush is some work I have been doing for a brand new product coming onto the fertiliser market and by the looks of the set up and the funding going into the brand it is going to hit the ground running. Physiq Apparel
The last brand that will be a big competitor for Palestra is a brand called Physiq they are not as big as Gym Shark or Alpha but they are still one of the market leaders here in the UK making them potentially more of a threat than Alpha Fitness. One of the things Physiq are known for and most likely have helped them get to where they are today is there use of celebrities to endorse their products. This seems to be a very good way of getting thousands of people to see your product with not a lot of cost involved.
Most companies will send off free clothing in a bid to get a post on social media from people that have a large group of followers and have the right image as a roll model. This means you clothing gets thousands of people see it for free or the cost of a piece of clothing, which isn’t a lot.

This Girl Can
This girl can is a Lottery and Sport funded project built to inspire women to feel empowered and more importantly to get involved in sports and exercise. The way they have attacked this hard to solve problem in inspiring through their research they realized women like to feel together and will do something if other women are doing it.
This Girl Can has acted on the information and research and they have gathered and created an initiative that is fueled and promoted by women. It all lives online and in social media by hash tagging #thisgirlcan it links and displays on there website as well as being able to seen on all platforms.
What can I learn from This Girl Can?
A lot can be taken from this project but I have to be carful not to copy, as it is very similar objective to what I am trying to achieve. The main thing I can take from This girl can is there tone of voice and the words they use to motivate the women. I can also use some of there stories of how women have participated in sports and the positivity they have towards women starting sports.

Project red analysis of marketing strategy
Project red are a charity founded in 2006 by the U2 front man Bono in a bid to fight the war against HIV/AIDS and archive an aids free generation. Over the last 11 years Project red has raised 465 million Dollars and impacted over 90 million peoples lives.
Project red combines the charity sector with the retail sector previously working with large brands such as Nike, Apple, Beats and many more successful brands.
What can I learn from project red?
For the Pink Project I can take away that you need to get brands to help you and embrace your product and the charity work and the cause. I can take away there tone of voice they are quite soft in there tone of voice but make sure the point is across to the person reading it.

Visual Marketing Strategy
After lengthy talks with my Tutor Kingsley I decided on a route to take my work and how my final deliverables were going to look. I have decided to work on my marketing strategy as this is the part of my work I most enjoy. So I have been designing marketing strategy making sure I keep all of the right information in the work but keeping the design clean using info graphics and other bits to complete the look. This will hopefully help me deliver a strong final product and i will deliver these slides as part of my final piece.

Sainsbury’s Active Kids Vouchers
Sainsbury’s Active kids vouchers is a little bit off topic but is a good initiation to work with because it is a little different to my end project.
What I have learnt for the active kids project is the way you can take the money once raised and spend it on equipment for sports and this is something the active kids range dose very well. They also show on there website how the equipment and the money is being spent which is a good feature for a charity.
This is also a really cleaver project because of the way it is implemented Sainsbury’s know that children have strong influences on there parents and they know that the children will go home and nag there parents to start shopping at Sainsbury’s because other kids in there year do a keep bringing these active kids vouchers in.
What can I Learn from Sainsbury’s Active kids?
The main thing I can take from active kids is the way the photograph the final project and how my charity is having a big impact on the intended market.

Gym Shark Analysis
Gym shark is one of the biggest if not the biggest brand of this new surge into the gym clothing market. Starting at our local university Aston as somebodies project they are now one of the biggest gym clothing brands in the world and are with multi millions. Gym shark started with the firs logo you see at the top with the circle badge style and then it was simplified down to the other logo so it didn’t look so crowded on there t-shirts. Gym shares website and branding are nice a simple mainly using black and white as there main background colours so there clothing is the only object that has colour in making it stand out more to the customer. One of the main things that makes them shark stand out the most for me is there photo shoots they always look perfect there is good photography that goes behind all of there photos.

Alpha Clothing Review
Alpha is a relatively new brand in the busy Men’s gym clothing market. This is a brand that is only really known in America at the moment and has not made the jump over to the British market although you are able to buy clothing and have it shipped over to the UK.
The main reason I am looking at this brand is not because it is a market leader but because I like the way in which they conduct themselves and the overall detail that goes into ever aspect of the brand from the wording they use and the design that goes in to make the whole look of the brand.
Alpha have spent a lot of time looking into how the brand is designed and the website is really easy to use despite the simplistic seamless design. You can navigate the website well and get to what you want in three clicks or less. I like the way Alpha have used mainly photographed content of there clothing and only colour really on the website id in the clothing its self making it stand out.
One other thing that stands out with this clothing brand is the words they use in the literature. For example they use words like:
- Take Control
- Products (to describe clothing)
- Performance
- Pursuing
- Attitudes
All of these words are very motivating and to the point they don’t sugar coat anything with flowery words and soft words. This is the clip from there about us page but instead of being called about page they have used the words “our code” which makes you feel part of something a movement that is going to take over.
“ To be hungry, to take full advantage of every opportunity that knocks, to give one hundred percent in pursuing your goals, to know that your thoughts and attitudes directly control your behavior, to stand up for those who cannot, to always side with the truth, to continuously search for knowledge, to keep full confidence in yourself when facing trials, to lift others up, to taking control of this glimpse which we call life… “
The one thing that ties all of this in and explains how perfectly they have thought about there literature is the name of the company. Alpha which means the best, in charge.
