I heard that Disney wanted to buy the Harry Potter rights and thank goodness that JK refused.

More like she had a vision that they were too prideful, or too chickenshit, to create. They came to Jo to offer her two rides and a food location. Jo was seeing something much, much bigger, and she was - once again - right. But Disney would never have done it, because they wouldn't have wanted Harry Potter, WB's IP - their rival! - to overshadow their own.

It's common knowledge that the hyper-immersive approach used in building the Orlando Wizarding World resort (which was done *because* JKR and her team demanded it be built this way, that every detail be paid attention to, the food, the props, the shops; just walking around the place *is* the experience, not just themed rides) revolutionised theme parks and gave a kick in Disney's ass in particular because they were getting complacent about their own stuff.

Thank goodness for all of this though, because Disney is already way too big, AND they destroy everything they touch lately. They have been creatively bankrupt for a decade and a half, it's sad. One of the best jokes i've seen about the casting of Arabella Stanton (who also played Mathilda in the musical) as Hermione was, "they cast an actress who can sing this time, in anticipation for the 2045 Beauty and the Beast remake's remake".
