sometimes i watch golden girls and i just tear up remembering everything each cast member did for the queer community

estelle getty lost her nephew to AIDS and moved in with him during the last months of his life to take care of him. she started a foundation that cares for people affected by AIDS that’s still there to this day. she saw one of the writers on her show was queer, walked right up to him and said “you’re one of us!” and promised to protect him. she put her career on the line to become an outspoken ally of AIDS patients at a time when it would’ve been career suicide

bea arthur was a staunch gay and trans ally who donated a lot of her time and money to helping homeless lgbt youth. when she died, she left them thousands of dollars to stay afloat after she was gone. she was incredibly socially active in the queer community!

rue mcclanahan was a staunch advocate of marriage rights for gay couples and openly devoted her time and money for the fight for equality. she also openly participated in queer spaces and loved the community with her entire heart. she was intimately aware of gay mens’ particular love for her character blanche and she fully embraced it

everybody knows by now about betty white’s activism, but i’ll say it anyway. not only did she join the fight for marriage equality, but she was a great mother to her lesbian stepdaughter. she participated in anti-bullying campaigns specifically against lgbt youth. she accompanied liberace to events because it wasn’t safe for him to be out. she loved us and she fought for us just like the others

all four of them did SO MANY amazing things for us, and it makes me happy that we had people like them – that we still do in people like dolly parton! we didn’t deserve them. i wish i could’ve met all of them and told them how grateful i am!

That Digital spy article about Max Bowden leaving was so off the mark and had some awful takes about Ben as a gay man. But I did kind of agree with the Sukeve part. As much as Bal and Heather have smashed it as this pairing, and the chemistry, the beautiful scenes they've had,and Suki's truth, it's always had the dark undertones and toxicity. It has been clandestine and tortured, now it's out in the open and tortured, as we add Suki being part of a murder cover up to her abusive husband returning to the square soon. Imagine if this pairing had been allowed to actually be happy without all of that. It may not be a popular opinion but Ive never championed the end game, because that's not what they are right now, and although I'd love to see them get there, my bar is low. I feel sometimes with Sukeve they give so much hope, and then take it away immediately it's like "here's what you could have won" like the train station reunion/kimonos to then eve having her grave being dug in the woods and going missing. Anyway that's my opinion, others will differ I know for sure, but I just had to get it out there

I was reluctant to get on board the Sukeve ship after the tumultuous ship of Berena, even though I love them, and we got a happy ending. But I'm glad I did, who knows what the outcome will be, but I feel if I'd never seen their story, I'd have missed out. It's sad to see people burnt by Rana and Kate in Corrie, and Vanity in Emmerdale, and Berena, just not bothering this time.

So Catherine had two offers of theatre work, and could only do one, which we'll find out what it is soon. I hope she's taken something a bit different from a farce this time, and is stretching herself a bit more. Time will tell

Soulmates, endgame, they are going to be together. Been there, and yes Berena eventually were. But if writers ultimately don't do that, then it doesn't matter how much support a ship has, how much chemistry, how supportive the actresses are, even if one half is gay in real life, it can all end in a steaming mess.
