pb’s been circling the drain for a while and it’s pretty funny watching everyone jump ship now. thought i’d make a quiz to commemorate, so come gimme some opinions on choices and i’ll tell you how brain-dead you are

“I've been thinking of traveling for a while,” Maxwell says, despite only thinking of it in the moment. “You know me, always looking for adventure.  Go diving in Australia, see Machu Pichu, learn how to base jump, find a few models to date at Fashion Week.”

"What?" Liam asks with a smile. “No scaling Mount Everest?”

“God, no, I don’t have a death wish.  Also?  Fuck all that snow, you know I hate being cold.”  He manages a smile, which doesn’t feel entirely forced, and he nudges Liam’s arm.  “It would be fun to go with a friend, though.”

“I would, but…”

For a brief, unkind moment, Maxwell pities him -- now that he has the freedom to do what he likes, he’d rather die than stay anywhere he didn’t truly want to be. 

A shadow flickers across the Crown Prince's expression, but it’s gone so quickly it might’ve just been a shift in the light coming in the window, and he pulls Maxwell into a brotherly hug, just a shade too tightly, his voice quiet and earnest against Maxwell’s shoulder.  “Whenever, wherever you go, come back with a million stories to tell me.”

Liam's life is over, and he’s going to spend the rest of his days preparing for and waiting to be king, his already small world shrinking even further because of Leo’s selfishness, because of his obligations.   

“One for every day I’m gone,” he promises.  He makes himself chuckle for Liam’s benefit as he pulls away, too soon.  “Any special requests?”

“Anything?”

“Everything.”

Liam’s quiet for a moment, and he twists his hands thoughtfully.  “The Statue of Liberty.  I’ve always wanted to see her.”

Maxwell thinks he might understand why, and he pulls Liam in again.  “The real one, right?  Not the one in Las Vegas?”

It makes Liam laugh, loud and true.  “Whichever crosses your path first, my friend.”

“So definitely the one in Vegas, got it.”  He makes a mental note to save the one in New York for last, to return with it pristine and unsullied by his wanderlust and baser impulses distracting him.
