If you as a protester need to shield your body from a blow from police, do so with closed fists and using your forearms to shield as needed*. Similarly, if you are holding a line with other people (as in you have your elbows linked with theirs), stand with your fists closed. If you are holding onto your own wrists, then the second your hands come unlinked (if the cops are breaking the line, e.g.), close your fists.
Instinctually, you may fear that having closed fists will read as aggression. However, I give you this advice for a very specific reason:
If you are thrown into a violent situation with a cop, you do not want to accidentally close your hand around/grab the cop or anything on their person.
This is not intuitive. This is not the kind of thing anyone would think about without being taught. I was taught this a few years ago by more experienced protesters. (And it matters to me greatly that folks get taught things like that before they need them)
There's a piece of advice that goes "if you're touching an electrical component that might be live, touch it with the back of your hand, so that if you're electrocuted, your hand doesn't close around it and trap you." This is the same principle. You are making it so that your hand cannot accidentally close around the cop or anything on their person.
Feel free to add additional advice onto this post. I was taught this, but have been fortunate enough to never need to use it. To be clear, I don't think anyone who has used this/similar advice should indict themselves by saying so.
*(I believe the advice, if you're on the ground, is to curl downward into a shelter-in-place position with forearms protecting your head but I'm less clear on this, someone better versed can jump in if there's more specific advice out there. The advice I was given was specific to when standing with arms linked with other protestors, and having the line broken.)

The class war is staggeringly rigged against the working class. The majority of households are living under extreme economic trauma.
End the trauma. Abolish Republicans.
