Started: April 18, 2024
Finished: June 21, 2025
Total stitching time: 125 hours and 1 minute over 73 active stitching days
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is my next project, I bought it on Etsy (link below).
My initial thought was to find a Aida (cross stitch fabric) in pink and just stitch over it but now I’m having second thoughts. Part of me says to just do the 10,000 stitches and the other part of me is like but 10,000 stitches?!
The hard thing about cross stitch is that everyone has a different idea of how long a skein will get you stitch wise. And one website led me to believe it would take over 40… and another is saying no it will be closer to 5. 🤷‍♀️
And when I added the fabric I found plus the colors… my project jumped to nearly $30 just to start. 🥴 more than half of it just the fabric, so now I am rethinking everything.
I have fabric I can use… and I need to fully inventory my thread… but I think I’ll just bite the bullet, as they say, and use white and buy the thread. And if I need to buy more… I can do that.

It took me 73 active stitching days (430 total) and 125 hours, but my Bridgerton piece is finally finished as of last night!

I’m not saying I’ll never post here again… but it’s just easier to update my Instagram with my cross stitching.

March Update
Tumblr media
Temperature Cross Stitch 2025
For this year, I will be honoring my home state and doing this design.
Tumblr media
My original plan was to do a play on the Heart in Oregon design that’s popular here, but after hours (like 20-30+) I couldn’t get the balance of how best to divid up the inside of the shape right. And I had seen the design I went with a handful of times and decided to just go with that one.

March In Review
Part 2
Here is the second part of my March wrap up. I stitched a total of 14,928 stitches over 27 days. The most I stitched was March 1st for a total of 1,289 😅 and then my lowest day was 137 stitches on the 5th.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I finished one of my WIPs and it’s in my finishes post earlier today.
I worked on three other WIPs this month. I had planned to do more work on all of them but I ended up working on the Taylor projects for my friend instead.
Tumblr media
For my 3D village, I only added some 500 ish stitches but I did make some progress on it. Because I’m using plastic canvas, I can’t do the sewing method which is my preferred way to stitch. Goal for April is to finish the house and make a dent in the town hall. I will likely just try and focus on this first set of village for this year based on how slow this section is going.
Tumblr media
My new start for March is my very first stitch a long! I’m loving it so far and I’ve done some 2100 stitches on it. Goal for April is to finish it!
Tumblr media
I also worked on my Bridgerton WIP and only added 170ish stitches before I got distracted 🤣 goal for April is to get to 75% finished, it’s currrntly at 65.4%.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lastly, I played around with ice dying this month and I absolutely had a blast. I’ve used some of my the fabric for my March ornament but the rest is put away to use for other projects. I don’t know what those projects will be yet, but I look forward to using it.

March In Review
Part 1… cause it was my most productive month… ever!
EIGHT FINISHES! I had eight finishes this month, granted seven of them were new starts in my “mini category… but still EIGHT?!?! This might have been my most successful month of cross stitch ever.
Tumblr media
The one WIP finish I had this month was the Live Like It’s Spring sampler that I started back on February 17 and finished on March 13.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I stitched a set of Taylor Swift mini albums for @clearlight33 and put them in holographic frames from the dollar tree. The patterns were purchased from NatXstitches on etsy (link below).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My ornament for this month was stitched on fabric dyed by myself and is from the “A Cool Yule” set by Emma Congdon for crossstitch favorite magazine Christmas 2024
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Last design was a freebie by loombugshop on Instagram. It reminded me of the 1990s country goose and I just had to stitch it. The tin on the right is one my family absolutely had at one point.

I’ve been waiting to play with dying my own aida and I heard about ice dying from a YouTube video and decided to give it a try since it seemed less messy than traditional tie dying. This is the results of my first attempt (front and back) using scrap aida.
I started this before I clocked in for work this morning and then rinsed it out during my afternoon break.
It turned out fantastic. I’ll likely cut it in half and use it for two different small projects.
Progress photos under the keep reading.

Last photo was after it was washed out but not dry.

February in Review
Under the cut because it’s photo heavy.
I worked on 7 projects this month and finished 3 of them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
My three finishes were: “Peaceful Path” by Sunny Lofstrom from just cross stitch, my February ornament. A modified version of “Project 2: Pincushion” from Lesley Wilkins book “Quaker Sampler”. My own design based on the famous PDX Carpet.
Tumblr media
For the Gingerbread Village, I added 230 stitches before I allowed myself to put this one away until the fall.
Tumblr media
For the 3D Village, I’ve added 2,346 stitches this month! And I’m on the final parts of the first building. This one has benefited the most from my 1 hour dedicated stitching (usually done in 4 increments of 15).
Tumblr media
For my Brigderton piece, I’ve added 161 stitches. I’ve only spun it once, but this will definitely be one that is finished because of my 1 hour stitch idea.
Tumblr media
I’ve added one new WIP this month and that’s the “Live Like it’s Spring” sampler by Miru Makes and world of cross stitching.
My plans for March include my first ever SAL! As well as working on a top secret for a friend who probably won’t read this but would likely see the photos. So I won’t be sharing those photos until after I give them to her.

I finished my third project of the year.
This ended up being a practice design on multiple levels.
It was my first time using a variegated floss for a project, this one is Anchor 1375. As well as my first time working with a 28 count evenweave. (Definitely prefer Aida.)
Because I was using a variegated floss, I also did this pattern using the English style of cross stitching, where you complete each x individually. I normally stitch the Danish method where you complete a row of the half the x in one direction before doubling back to complete the x’s.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The photo on the left is the one I did using the English method and the one on the right is using the Danish method.

January in Review
I’ve been meaning to do this post for 11 days. Oops. Under the cut because it’s going to be photo heavy 😅
I stitched 15,513 stitches over 29 days, averaging about 530 stitches across those days. The most stitches I did in a single day was 1,066 when I was working on the Oregon text section of my temperature cross stitch.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I worked on one of my wips this month, started three and finished one.
For the Gingerbread Village, I worked on it over 17 days and I have just over 7,700 stitches left. As I type this I’m considering putting it away until November… but at the same time, my app says I’m on track to finish February 21st. So we’ll see.
Tumblr media
For the 3D Christmas village, I made some progress but not a lot. I’m mostly working on this one when I’m at my parents doing laundry since it’s easy to haul around. I’m sort of behind where I’d like to be, but oh well.
Tumblr media
One of my goals this year is to make an ornament every month and I ended up starting two of them and finishing one. Right now I am struggling with not fully considering the number of stitches I’m subjecting myself to when I see a design I like. Hence the Christmas WIP in January and having to quickly shift gears for this month’s ornament.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Christmas tree design I finished is for January and the original one will be for February.
Other cross stitchy things I’ve done this month are getting more involved in the community, checking out flosstube, and using and adapting my cross stitch journal. I’ve done a lot of tweaking of pages and ideas and it’s working well for me. I’ve still got some things in Excel because math is hard 🤣 but I like having the visuals right in front of me.

January Update
I’m doing half of my daily stitches in the high temp and the other half in the low temp for each day. And I LOVE how it’s turning out.

I’ve always wanted to be a journal or planner girlie… but I could never do it (just another missed ADHD symptom 😅), but I’ve been tracking all of this information in different places and one of the things I am trying to do this year is use stuff or get rid of it.
Insert the Happy Planner I bought back in 2020 (I think). I mostly just used it as a notebook for work and then moved on to something else so this has just sat around since then.
I’ve spent the last few days designing and tweaking the pages for this. The project tracker has had at least 4 different versions and I’ve used a handful of different fonts. (The header font is Loverline.) I started in Illustrator but ended up having more success in Publisher and copying tables from my existing Excel spreadsheets.
The only thing I bought for this project was the 7x9.25 inch paper. In the past, I just used regular letter paper and cut it out, but it was such a hassle and I knew if I had to do it for every single page I would give up on this project. So it was absolutely worth the money!
My goal for this cross stitch journal is to track my wips, track temperatures for my cross stitch project, track my monthly stitches, manage my floss inventory, and keep track of patterns I’ve purchased.

I’ve spent 7 of the last 8 days working on the center of this project, the “Oregon” part in the color scheme I’m using for this one. I love how it turned out.

Also for anyone curious, here is my color scheme I’m using for this year. Decided I wanted to go for a different look this year after 3 years of a rainbow.

Cross Stitch Goals for 2025
1. Finish my Bridgerton project and the Christmas project I (wisely) abandoned at the last minute.
Current status of both:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. Create something for the 2024-25 Oregon Duck football team and all that they achieved. It didn’t end the way we were hoping it would, but we went 13-0 for the first time in school history and that is something to celebrate.
3. Make a 3D Christmas village
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
4. Make Christmas ornaments to give to my family next Christmas. Possibly make an ornament every month for myself as well.
5. Use my cross stitch scraps to make my own waste-free sampler. I actually started this in December, this is what it currently looks like.
