Okay so like obviously the "my name is skyler white, yo" scene is comedy gold. But like- I feel like "You will be one sorry individual" and "You can dig it. Wonderful." specifically are just S tier lines...

I don’t understand the people who think saying “I found Skyler annoying when I started watching BrBa but I came to love her later on” is somehow any better than saying they’ve always hated her. Anyone with a brain that’s grounded in reality would recognize right off the bat that her concerns and intervention make perfect sense from the perspective of someone like her.

COMPLETELY agree re: your bcs thoughts. for me I always identified primarily with mike and tbh I could watch jbanks dismantle a whole car for an hour and be satisfied, but that's personal preference. I also get lalo's motivations more than I thought I would - I have a bunch of thoughts re: that character and I hate how fandom has literally turned him into some cheap latin-lover type pastiche. the whole sexy spicy latino being lusted over by fandom and shoved together with nacho because its hot is a real thing. and double yes on kim/rhea. I struggled for a while bc I thought I was missing nuance, but I wasn't. odenkirk does the best he can with his material, and I do think sometimes his acting is actually astonishing - like that scene in the insurance office, where it hits him that his premiums have gone up an insane amount. definitely the best actor of the main rotation. anyhow just wanted to say love your work
Wow, thank you! Hahaha. I'm glad to know there are a few of us out there who don't buy into all the hype, lol.
And yeah, I agree that the fandom can really destroy nuance, especially when it comes to characters like Lalo.

no, Mike is not a mega-wise old man of wisdom actually, he's just fucked in the head and has been telling himself lies for so long that he's now able to confidently state them as truth and

i remember you talking about how contrapoints envy video applied to candy. about how candy “evangelizes” and “rationalizes” her envy into some thing “morally acceptable” and “good actually”. like how she was clearly envious of Elena, and wanted everything elena had for Caroline, but she had to make her hatred moral, so she made it about white feminism, or “appreciating morally gray female characters” (ironic that she hated fandom for hiding behind social justice arguments).
Did I say that? Lol I don't remember. But yeah, I think Candy's major beef with a lot of female protagonists' was envy. She couldn't relate to them and she was mad about it. Saying that sounds a bit misogynist and racist in itself but it is what it is.
