A group of civilians was just targeted and killed in Jabalia refugee camp while attempting to get food for their families. When journalists tried to help them, Israeli snipers started firing at them.
I've moved to a new area and am looking for a new vet clinic for my 15 year old cat. I've had mixed experiences over the years ... are there any questions you would recommend asking to get a read on a place? Or any other advice regarding vetting a new vet?
Aww, what a lovely little gal!
yeah, when I'm checking out a new vet, I ask them about how they handle fractious cats and check for fear-free certificates. I'm not sure if fear free is a thing outside of the States.
The internet is pretty useful, but it's wise to be VERY cautious with reviews. Someone who's just lost their pet isn't likely to leave a good review for a vet, even if the doctor and staff did their absolute best to keep said pet alive. I've seen bad reviews given for things like 'vet insisted on administering rabies vaccine, even though Fluffers is indoor only'. But they can be a starting point, at least.
Facebook can be useful--- a lot of cities have dog groups and they frequently have lists of vets in the area, along with reviews. I personally find these reviews a LOT more reliable than the ones on google review or similar.
I ask if the vet has a partner emergency hospital. It's ideal if they do, but not a dealbreaker if they don't. I just tend to encounter a lot of emergencies due to work and prefer a streamlined process.
I'm also interested in how long they've been practicing. If they've been practicing for a long time, I ask them if they're continuing education--- basically, i'm trying to figure out if older vets are keeping up to date on newer techniques.
You can donate to the Palestine Children's Relief Fund for as little as $1.00.
There is a fee you can choose to apply to cover processing.
Which if you choose to do leaves you with a total of ~$1.35 (USD) depending on the type of card you have.
PCRF has a score of 97% on Charity Navigator.
Adults and children alike are currently dying in Palestine due to starvation. (World Health Organization Link)
The Gaza Strip is one of two places in the entire world that is categorized as Phase 5 (the highest phase) on the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification scale.
So even if you think it isn't enough, remember that donating even as little as $1.35 helps! It's $1.35 they wouldn't have had otherwise. So donate if you can. 🇵🇸
This is very urgent so please share however you can. Islam, the mom of this family in Gaza, is eight months pregnant but has a fractured pelvis and therefore cannot give birth safely. She needs a C-section, but the conditions to perform those no longer exist in Gaza. For months women in Gaza have been getting C-sections without anaesthesia. We need to get her out before she goes into labor, which could happen at any time now. We're halfway through the goal and even if everyone just chipped in 5-10 dollars it adds up quick!
Physically assaulting and arresting the 65-year-old Jewish HEAD of Jewish STUDIES at Dartmouth to fight the so-called antisemitism at these encampments is truly something you can’t even write.
Power to the people ✊ Yesterday, Dutch police bulldozed the Gaza encampment at the University of Amsterdam. Today, students and staff confronted police and forced them to retreat. Videos: X: Qudsnen and Mariyankhan
