Chaostheorie briefly reviews every Batic/Leitmayr Tatort

Number 9 is a complete contrast to the previous episode in practically every way. This time, the setting is the heile Welt (read: facade of forced cheerfulness and harmony) of Bavarian Volksmusik, a folksy genre of music chiefly for old people.
But the film doesn't actually care about the case that much, and nor do we as the viewer. Instead, we get
an adorable montage of Franz and Ivo playing dads. Franz is babysitting the young son of a friend, and of course Ivo has to help.
Carlo being deputised as babysitter.
Franz bonding with one of the Volksmusik singers over their joint love of classic rock.
The only element repeated from the previous film is colleagues being racist towards Ivo, chiefly Kriminalrat Flach (a repeat character in early episodes), a superior who is responsible for police department PR. He's such a Flachpfeife. In German we say: Der Name ist Programm. In this instance Franz doesn't actively defend Ivo in the moment, but when Ivo makes a genuine mistake later in the film, Franz pretends he did it to draw Flach's ire towards himself. Aww <3
Verdict in one phrase: Shallow but entertaining. Beginner watch? No.
