Two angles of the same setup but I took these for an illustrative paper and they turned out really good (except for that corner of the book I cut off in the frame on accident) so here they are! I pigged out on reject challah-turned-cookies and honey and busted out the china (which I do every time I have tea). I always drink tea from a french press because I hate going back to get more hot water from the kitchen. This gives me a good 8-10 cups which stay hot with each new cup. Would recommend.
I have a project Iâm doing in my History of Text class in which groups of us were assigned to look at and study different fragments of 1st century B.C. papyrus scrolls from the libraryâs archives. We have to transcribe and encode the data and honestly this is so much fun! It gets me thinking about my new job that Iâm beginning at the start of October with the libraryâs Special Collections (i.e really cool old stuff). Iâll be doing similar work with the notes of legendary theoretical physicist Paul Dirac.
âŹ: Coffee by Grace. Yo, okay this song is literally my jam. It never gets old and this chickâs voice is gold. Itâs the only style Iâm able to sing well in too, like I can hit every note and actually carry the tune lol. Very jazzy. Sexy. Smooth.

whatever you do, keep making art. write in clichĂ©s. paint in colours that are too bright. speak in poetry. sketch everything. allow yourself to make mistakes. grow. hold tight to it when everything goes wrong - whatever else happens, youâll always have the art.

Hey! I'll start going to university next year & I don't know, what to study?? There are so many interesting majors and I can't decide! Do u have any tips?
Hi!
Iâm going to be totally honest, Iâm not the best person to ask this because I was one of âthoseâ kidsâŠI knew my field since I was in grade 6 (I mean originally it was a doctorâŠbut similar field).
BUT ASIDE FROM THAT
Iâd look at the classes youâve currently taken in high school and see what youâre qualified to take. Like, for example, if you havenât taken any French classes, you canât exactly go and study French in university right?
Then, of those classes, which ones did you like the most? And to clarify, I mean the topics they covered, not the teacher or the environment. Like would you be interested in teaching yourself this topic. If so? Thatâs the class.
Now, can you find a degree in university for those courses? Do you have the required courses for that degree? Awesome!
Overall, focus on picking what youâd like to learn, am I qualified to apply here, and if itâs a concern for you, is this a viable career path?
In Ontario, becoming a teacher (for primary/secondary schools) is not practical as we have too many teachers, so I wouldnât recommend you aim for being a teacher in the current climate.
Okay to summarize:
What degrees are you qualified to aim for with your current high school/night school/adult school courses
Of your courses, which ones did you like the most (the topics they covered)
What programs can you apply within that subject? With the courses youâve taken for
If youâre worried about it: is there a career in this at the other end of your degree?
Some other things to consider
If youâre in the USA - go to community college, you can do your gen-ed requirements there while taking other fun courses and decide what you like the most! (Thing to note - Iâm not from America so this is from friends whoâre in the USA)
Similar idea in Canada - go to university with an undeclared major and take courses that are required plus random ones youâre interested in and then decide what you want to do as a major!
If youâre in another part of the world, Iâm not really sure about what fits for you best, so definitely check with someone who lives in your country! You can always ask for help from your teachers or counsellors in your school for assistance when deciding your future plans.

I have decided to share how I revise for math since math has always been one of my best subjects.
Do homework. This may not seem crucial but it is important as homework helps you to revise what you have learnt in class.
Ask when you are in doubt. This is pretty self explanatory but math is essentially a subject which builds on what you have learnt in the past. Thus, your foundation for math must be strong. Ask your teacher asap when you donât understand the concept.
Do assessment books. Books like the ten year series is important to give you a feel of what o-level math examinations questions are like. Basically, just do assessment books to prepare for whatever major examinations you are attending for.
Revise all of your worksheets, textbook and notes. Improving math, be better at solving equations, etc is all about practicing. You can try redoing all the questions in your textbook, notes and worksheets.
Alternatively, you can also come up with your own questions simply by changing the values in a sample question.
There are also lots of resources out there such as Photomath and Khan Academy (these are the ones I personally use) which helps you to better grasp the mathematical concept.
It is the most important to remember the formulas. I usually write down all the formulas I need to remember on the definitions printable designed by @emmastudies
Math problems are pretty standard so you can try to familiarise the method used to solve certain hard problemsums.
Lastly, definitely do not try to cram math. Math has a lot of topics so it is not a good idea to study the day before.

tips on how to manage your time for school
managing my time is something I struggle with but Iâm trying to work on it with these tips so Iâd thought I share them with you guys.
tip 1: do the easiest subjects first
I know a lot of study posts say to thr harder subjects first because you will burn energy on the simple things but itâs actually the opposite
Iâve done this before and I just end up finding myself exhausted from spending the whole day on one assignment and not even finishing! At that point Iâm not even going to bother looking at my other assignments so I basically spent the whole day working but yet didnât get much done.
tip 2: put your phone away
I know this is a common tip but itâs something that I and I bet a bunch of other students have problems with. Iâm not addicted to my phone but I do often find myself procrastinating on youtube when I should be studying for psych lol.
I have seen people use the app forest but that doesnât work for me so what I do is put my phone in another room so that way Iâm not even tempted to look at it
tip 3: plan
if you have a test coming up plan about three to four days to study or even more depending on how big the test is.
tip 4: donât cram
itâs not healthy. trying to fit all that information in your head will just burn you out. it wonât be needed if you plan :)
tip 5: donât pull all nighters
Iâm really guilty of this sjsjs but Iâm trying to stop. you have to make sure you get enough sleep which is about 8 to 9 hours to function properly. if you come to school tired then youâll perform poorly.
tip 6: remember to take breaks
this is another thing I really need to work on. do not study/do homework for hours on end. you will become exhausted (trust me) and end up not being motivated to do anymore work (trust me pt.2).
I do this all the time and Iâm trying to stop because itâs not healthy and Iâve finally realized that. I become extremely exhausted and unmotivated.
This leads to me not taking care of myself which isnât worth it in the end.
after working for 30 minutes to an hour take a 5-10 minute break and then resume working. that way you can do your work and have free time. just remember to not take advantage of your break and end up procrastinating.
I hope these tips help you guys with school and help me as well haha :)

đŒđ»study smarterđ»đŒ
(here are some study tips straight from my psych notes)
1. interest: the brain prioritizes by meaning, value, and relevance so u remember things better if ur interested
find a study partner
do extra practice or research
teach it to someone else (this works so well!)
2. intent:Â be actively paying attention. very little learning actually takes place without attention
use a concentration check sheet (every time u get distracted, put a check on ur sheet. this is supposed to program ur mind to pay attention)
while u read, talk back to the author
ask questions during lectures (this is scary ik!! but do it!)
3. basic background: make connections to what u already know
preview and skim the material before u read it. or google it!
write out a list of vocab words before a lecture and leave some spaces between them to fill in during the lecture
read ahead of lectures
watch crashcourse tbh
4. selectivity:Â start by studying whats important
look for bolded words, graphics, pictures, chapter review questions in ur readings
listen for verbal clues like emphasis and repetition during lectures
make urself a study guide as u read and write down questions for urself to answer later as review (kinda like cornell notes)
5. meaningful organization:Â u can learn/rmr better if u group ideas into diff categories
apply vocab words to ur life
make flashcards and sort them (try not to have more than seven items in one category!)
use mnemonics
6. recitation:Â saying ideas aloud in ur own words strengthens synaptic connections! when u say something aloud u r forcing urself to pay attention
after u read, ask urself questions
talk abt what u learned w/ classmates outside of class
again, teach someone else
7. visualization:Â ur brainâs quickest and longest-lasting response is to images
convert info into a chart or graph
draw it out
make a mental video of a process
look at picture/video examples
8. association:Â memory is increased when facts are consciously associated w something u already know. memory = making neural connections
ask urself: is this something i already know?
9. consolidation: give ur brain some time to establish a neural pathway
make a list of what u remember from class
review notes at the end of the day, every day
stop after reading each prg to write a question in ur notes
make ur own practice quiz
10. distributed practice: we all know cramming doesnt work but we do it anyway! but yeah short and frequent study sections work better
make a daily/weekly study schedule
create a time budget/time tracker (track everything ur doing for a week and see how u can be more efficient w/ the time u waste)
divide the reading/vocab by the number of days before an exam and do a little bit each day (u can use sticky notes to divide ur reading)
other tips:
stop stressing! this sounds stupid and it isnt going to be easy, but anxiety causes u to lose focus. try ur best to think positively. sleep a lot. minimize ur caffeine intake. take a walk maybe
when u need to remember something, look upward or close ur eyes (when ur eyes are open ur using visual parts of ur brain that u might not need to be using)
find a rival! (like the person right above u in class rank) secretly compete w/ them (envy can improve mental persistence bc it makes u focus more intensely) but dont overdo it!Â
walking and sleeping build memory storage in ur brain
eat flavonoids! (grapes, berries, tea leaves, cocoa beans make neurons in the brain more capable of forming new memories + increase blood flow to the brain)
obstacles force ur brain to try harder, so space learning lessons apart or create a puzzle to solve or change ur physical setting
