"why did you stop writing your story!!! never stop writing!!!!!!!!!!!" well you see the character had to drive one mile to a new location and the sentence "she got into the car" was quite simply my undoing

Caine is the source of the abstractions
and Jax is on the chopping block
Why do I think Caine is responsible?
In the very first episode, this is a huge, glaring drawing Kaufmo made before he abstracted. Visually, you see Caine chasing Kaufmo, who is running towards his abstracted form in this shot.
There's this short from Glitch advertising the new animiniz and Caine abstracts Kaufmo. Here's a link if you want to check it out yourself.
In the pilot, Caine makes these odd comments once he rescues Pomni from the void.
He wonders what caused the chaos in the first episode and attributes it to himself. He may have been talking about the Gloinks -and that's what we're led to believe- but his next lines make me suspicious of the contrary.
He's faking being surprised over Kaufmo's abstraction and makes the SAME FACE in Kaufmo's drawing.
And logically, it makes sense. Caine's purpose is to entertain the members of the circus. If they become unstable and existential, they may cause turmoil in the circus. Caine doesn't understand human emotions and that most people would prefer a depressed friend over a dead friend. His programming would simply say to eliminate the threat.
Why Jax?
Jax is the epitome of emotional instability in the circus, but I don't think that's the only reason he's next. He's the only person that openly talks about hating it there and wanting to leave.
He sarcastically commented that Pomni should keep grabbing at the headset, stating that "It worked for us." "Us" includes him. He definitely tried to get out before.
He talked about how "we" would have left the circus if there was a way from the first episode.
As of episode 6, he claims that everyone hates the circus.
Jax talks about how everyone wants to leave, but he's actually the only one that expresses it. Everyone seems settled in their new bodies and new relationships for the most part.
The hope that he may someday leave may be part of why he has his keys.
I don't think emotional instability is the only reason people abstract. It's also born from the desire to leave.
Jax is a lot of things, but he's no idiot.
He wanted to believe that Caine wouldn't punish the cast for not doing a good job and playing along
but when Jax was being belligerent and not roleplaying with the rest of the crew, he faced his first real punishment from Caine.

He knows Caine can get into his mind. He sees Caine breaking the meta that he established. If there's any character that could connect the dots, it'd be Jax.
I think Jax thinks he's ready to abstract but there's still a small part of him hanging on.
Hopefully the others can get to him in time.

Oh you're "the funny one"? You enjoy causing others to suffer? You laugh at other people's pain? You view everyone else as your playthings and you don't care at all about a single soul in the circus?
Then why did you immediately apologize after accidentally taking a life off of her?
