You can discover your favourite band when you’re in your late twenties. You can meet your best friend when you’re in your thirties. You can finally accomplish a life goal when you’re in your fifties. Your youth isn’t the only time frame where amazing, life-changing things can happen.

Linguistic thought of the day
native English speakers don’t tend to say “yes.”
My clients are about 50/50 native and non-native English speakers, and non-native English speakers are pretty much the only ones who say “yes” when I ask them a question.
Native English speakers almost always say “yeah” or “sure”, unless it’s for emphasis. (“Is now a good time?” “Sure” vs “Is this your first baby?” “Yes he is!!”)

holiday spirit
summary: In which Kim Taehyung takes Christmas a little too seriously—but maybe it’s for a good reason.  member: kim taehyung + reader genre: fluff; neighbors/christmas au  word count: 7,288
.
As soon as the music starts bleeding in through the thin walls of the apartment building, you can’t help but let out a groan as you roll your eyes to the back of your head for extra measures of exasperation. You don’t even need to hear Mariah Carey’s voice to know the song that’s playing in the next unit, and it makes you want to pull the hairs out of your roots because seriously? It’s November, and worse of all, it’s still within the middle of the month and your neighbor is already preparing for the snowy holiday when you still have orange pumpkins and leftover candy lining your kitchen counter to showcase how your mind is still caught up in the celebrations that has ended less than a month ago.
You really can’t stand people like this—who gets ready for a holiday this long in advance? Why is it necessary to hang up Christmas trees and fake snow made from cotton when the leaves are still orange outside? What exactly is so special about this particular holiday that requires so much cheer and festivity and chiming bells over the radio?
To put it simply, you don’t get it. You don’t understand the hype, why putting up the wreath the week before Christmas is not enough, why setting up a shedding tree and decorating it with glimmering spheres is such a common practice – just all these little seemingly insignificant things that other people around you made big deals out of that you could never quite wrap your own mind around.
Most of the time, it’s fine. Most of the time, you pay no attention to the business of your coworkers or your peers in regards to their own holiday plans. Why would their schedules mean anything to you when you’ve always spent your Christmas doing the exact same thing—staying at home, drinking coffee, getting a text message or a phone call from family, above all just wishing for the day to pass by just like any other normal occurrence.
However, when someone else threatens your indifference, shoves their way into your life whether it be through forcing you to buy candy canes in the middle of fucking November or going on about developing that “jolly spirit” or playing Christmas music so loudly that it puts you in a position of having to listen to aforementioned songs when you would just really rather not, that’s when it suddenly becomes unfine.
Slamming your cup of coffee down onto the counter, you run a hand through your hair and make your way outside your apartment into the hallway. The music is just as loud as it was from inside your room, blaring from the other side of one particular door that the thought of what this person might be like is enough to get your blood to boil.
Gritting your teeth together and setting your nerves, you approach the front door and knock your fist against the wood. There is a stirring of movement on the other side and you cross your arms over your chest, the words already ready on the tip of your tongue even before the door is opened to reveal the owner on the other side.
