Alright sit down everyone. The leadership of this blog has changed, there was a violent coup and the weak-willed ideologue who ran this post has been replaced by a pragmatic straight shooter. The movie is the same. The Research project is the same too, but it's also completely different.
It's been streamlined from a multi-phase project where I make a diorama in real life, then recreate it in 3d from scratch, to a consumable PDF presentation and accompanying writeup where I show what makes textures feel handmade. I will be combining research and notes that I got studying miniatures at The National Museum of Toys and Miniatures, textures I've bought or otherwise found, and information from youtube tutorials.
Here are some cool textures from cool blender Youtube educator SouthernShotty's Crafty Asset Pack, which I'm using for inspiration and will break down in my research piece.
Here are some cool objects I have found that I like, which are very textural and that i will analyze.
Nice. I hope you are fine with our new, more streamlined administration, even if we did come into power out of undemocratic opportunism and violence.
The film is coming along. Animation is good. The edit has solidified. A lot of work, for sure, but ol' Cole is feeling strong.
Big Announcement! The Official Edge of The World Soundtrack is in production by my acclaimed composer and childhood friend, Matt P. As a sneak peek, here's the theme song of everyone's favorite green child: Snornley!
Have a good night, and keep checking back for more news about THE EDGE OF THE WORLD.
This week I spent most of my time building a grass system for my cartoon. I've never really made any big node systems before, and this one isn't totally done, but I think once I can give the grass collision with other objects it'll be pretty much done. Next week I'll be going crazy with 2D animation.
