Artist Statement

Photography has always been something I found to be inspiring and magical. Being able to capture what’s around you through pictures is something words can’t describe. I first got interested in photography my senior year of high school when people were taking senior pictures. I love how a picture captures so many memories and creates a feeling. I had some experience taking pictures but I wanted to learn more. Taking this photography class has given me an opportunity to show my creative side and learn about my camera. I was definitely nervous about taking this class but I feel like I have grown to be confident with my camera.I knew how to take a simple photograph but now I have learned about shutter speed, IOS, and other elements to make an impact on an image. I look around at the world and have so much passion to capture how beautiful things are. I can edit, play with the lighting, take an image out of focus and so much more because this class has given me the opportunity to do so.

Photography has given me a new perspective on life. I didn’t realize how powerful looking around at the world everyday changes how you look at things. The little things like lights or flowers can change a persons mood and makes you feel grateful. The images I loved to take involved people and nature itself because emotions were present. I have been able to capture these moods through my pictures and as the semester progressed my pictures began to progress. Photography has changed my life and I will continue to take photos and improve my skills. The photos that are captured with a camera are incredible and create memories that will last for a lifetime. This class has given me an opportunity to learn so many things and I can’t wait to see what the future holds!
