Frank Spotnitz Clarifies Something
Interviewer: Do you mind one X-Files question to put something to rest?
Frank Spotnitz: Go ahead.
I: Mulder and Scully…William…Back when you were involved with the show, what was the story there?
FS: It was not what Chris did in the last two seasons. And I spoke to him about that.
I think it was very bold what he did. He didn’t give people what they wanted, and that was his choice. It’s never the way I thought about the story and never the way I thought about William.
Of course, I wasn’t involved. It’s not necessarily what I would have done if I had been involved. I see why he did it, though, and I admire his courage and still wanting to surprise people that late in the life of the show.
But I equally understand why so many people, so many die-hard fans, were…It wasn’t the ending they wanted, and it wasn’t the storyline they were hoping for.

The Scully Lookbook: Ice 1x08
dir. David Nutter
Can we all agree that this episode was way sexier than it had any right to be? It’s also one of my all time favs. It features only two Scully outfits, one of which Scully wears in various states of Arctic layering or near-total undress.
1. Sapphire Skirt-Suit
She’s worn this before, it’s classy. Simple, tailored, teal/sapphire skirt-suit with a draped blouse, pearl studs, and the necklace. Hair, extremely floofy. This is the calm before the storm. Poor baby.
2a. Arctic Explorer
Tiny baby Scully whom I love and adore is wearing the biggest, thickest parka she could find. Her little nose must get so cold. It’s a snow white parka with faux ash-brown fur lining on the hood, and a striped woollen scarf, brown, white and beige. She’s got black hiking pants on and a trusty black work bag. Now, get this, she and Mulder have matching snow boots, with the little fleece lining. Matching. Best friends.

I have lived with a fragile faith built on the ether of vague memories from an experience that I can neither prove nor explain. When I was twelve, my sister was taken from me, taken from our home by a force that I came to believe was extraterrestrial…If I should die now, it would be with the certainty that my faith has been righteous. And if, through death, larger mysteries are revealed, I will have already learned the answer to the question that has driven me here; that there is intelligent life in the universe other than our own.
