Belile sits at her desk, staring at the bottle before it. A nice bottle of whiskey, as Beth had promised. She looked at it, watching the golden-brown liquid gently swirl back and forth within it’s container. The last couple of weeks had been a whirlwind for the businesswoman, and for once she was able to catch herself. The company had been sold, and now all of that busy work was lifted. No more visits to the harbor. No more firing sleezy captains who thought they could pull the wool over her eyes. No more arguments with vendors who were trying to lower their costs. Samuels Shipping Company was now absorbed into the Rose and Raven Company. The paperwork would get lighter, easier to handle. As the thoughts flowed through her head, a smile formed on the woman’s lips. Maybe now she can have some free time. Get back into reading the dusty tomes that enveloped her library at home. Get back into the forbidden words and secret magic they held within. The lid was opened, a glass of the liquid was poured, and a sip of the drink was taken, red lipstick left on the rim of the glass.

Oh, what a time to be alive.
