Being a young adult is so strange. You enter a coffee shop. The 20 year old girl waiting behind you cried all night because she just came to a new city for university and she feels so alone. That 27 year old guy over there works a job he is overqualified for, he lives with his parents and wants to move out but doesn't know what to do about it. That one 24 year old dude already has a car, a house, and a job waiting for him once he graduates thanks to his dad's connections. The 26 year old barista couldn't complete his higher education because he has to work and take care of his family. The 28 year old girl sitting next to you has no friends to go out with so she is texting her mother. That couple (both 25 years old) are married and the girl is pregnant. The 29 year old writing something on her laptop has realized that she chose the wrong major so she is trying to start all over. We are not alone in this, but we are actually so alone. Do you feel me

It's actually kind of fucked up that you can be like two or three years old, in the middle of being hauled from point A to point B by your mom, while your about 3-4-year-old sister is getting dragged in her other hand kicking and screaming due to the condition known as being a toddler, and you also hate it here and you also want to scream but then some flicker of human consciousness and animal survival instinct goes through you and it clicks:

You can't both be crying. Mom is really, really close to the end of her rope, and she can handle one tantrum toddler while hanging by a thread, but if you're both crying, mom is going to McFucking lose it. You don't know what's going to happen if that happens, but that animal survival instinct is telling you that you have to avoid that at all costs. One of you has to keep quiet or you're both going to die, and your sister has already decided that it's not going to be her.

And then some random bullshit like that becomes the first founding cornerstone of who you are as a person. That you can't both be crying, your parents can handle one kid, not two, so if you're both making noise you're both going to fucking die. And then you randomly unlock that memory in therapy when you're 30.

I had a tattoo client ask if I ever used AI to design tattoos for me. Man I spent the better part of a decade doing shitty bit work as a graphic designer and now that I have the space to do whatever I want, I'm gonna let the computer generate random garbage for me? What next should I have a computer that eats my dinner and fucks my wife?
