after a rather focused year on himself, what does minsoo want from the next year? of all things, he passed on a casting but he's on the verge of graduating and that's his main focus right now. he is tinkering towards the end of one more term and then that's the finish line in sight. its fair to say that he wants a decent birthday in january as well, as he's either just gone with the flow or not actually properly indulged for himself in the last few years. and... well. he wants something to look back on fondly, whether its alone or with others, on a trip or... with family... or - something memorable. he better start planning now. but what happens after he graduates? if minsoo can be idealistic and unrealistic, he hopes for a year full of achievements and joy - no unemployment unless of his own choice, please - and move into a nice studio apartment to call his own. yea. that'll be his big thing. minsoo wants his own place and to be more independent after school. but he's heard the horror stories of interviewing, and the employment market, so... maybe he'll have to see if the opportunity for being cast again or auditioning will come his way. considering the last bout that he passed on, it'll definitely be an eye opener if its something he actually wants, or not. either way, he's got a few things on the page.

"i know my limits," minsoo all but exclaims, though that could barely be heard too outwardly considering how loud the atmosphere was to begin with. normal volume. "i didn't drink that much- hey!" the frow in his brow is exaggerated as he glares at insu who is being more of a mom than a bro. "why are you here anyway if you're going to be no fun? oi," he all but flails, the ebb of inebriation having him physically feel as if he was swaying and moving in slow motion, and he all but misses his chance to grasp at the drink that is now lost and probably going to be trash because nobody is going to drink something that is possibly not safe. unless they were drunk too then.. well.
he glares, and all but pouts at insu, figuring he ought to be obedient because damn. he did feel tired. but! but! "one more for the road? i promise that..... if you let me get one more yogurt soju before we leave that i'll actually leave with you, no more being argumentative?" the boy tries to bat his bambi eyes at insu but he knows its probably not working. "seriously, its as if i drank everything for the two of us. you are being no-fun! which, y'know, you're not designated driver. lighten up!"
nose crinkling, he looks left, and right. at what? minsoo's looking for both the bar and the exit route simultaneously. "see? there's a convenient path riiight... there!" he declares, shooting right off to the left side of the room.
he could feel the headache coming on, one that he knows all too well will end up with him irritated by the next morning. there's no way that he had returned to seoul just to babysit his friend, not that he was complaining or anything, just that it hadn't been in his plans upon returning to the city. he almost contemplates whether or not he should just drag minsoo's ass out of here and force the other into the car, though as he's thinking of it something else happens which only causes those around them to watch the scene unfolding like it was some kind of show.
he tries to be quick with reaching out, trying to stop the other from falling on his ass. thankfully he manages to somehow, awkwardly, catch minsoo before letting out a heavy sigh as he looks at the other male. "that's because i'm not. just how much have you had to drink? you're so shitfaced right now that i'd believe you had a whole keg of alcohol." he says, squinting at the other male as if to show that he's trying to assess just how much the other really did have to drink.
"i'm not drinking that, and neither are you." as he says this, kaito snatches the cup out of minsoo's hand and randomly shoves it to someone nearby. "here, drink that." if he hadn't already had too much to drink himself he probably would have, though he was already feeling the alcohol kicking in himself and he needed to try and at least be somewhat conscious enough to get both of them home. "let's go home, yeah?"

"sounds good, maybe we will plan as we go, and catch up with each other? honestly, i am super glad we'll have a break sometime soon because i am ti-red," minsoo huffs, i energy draining out of him when it comes towards three quarters of the semester being done. he's not the best at pacing himself and he feels it - the burn out energy. thankfully with bursts in between of socializing and routines, this helps keep him feeling relatively stable. "thanks for waiting like usual." he smiles, happy that heechul wasn't upset at him, though he's correct. it's the teacher's fault!
"something new or something tried and true? i have a few places in mind," because minsoo had gone down the rabbit hole trying to find different restaurants and cafes to try the other weekend in order for a meeting, and now he had a full list of options. "sad, but one of my favourite places closed down the other week. i really feel like its hard to find a place that'll stay stable and open now, which is too bad. i can understand its hard to keep a business running and going though." his bag is slung is momentarily resting on his lap as he takes a brief break before they head out, grabbing his phone out to pull out the actual digital list.
heechul knows how some classes are so he doesn't get upset about waiting for minsoo to meet with him. he's dealt with his fair share of being held back from leaving due to the teacher being too passionate about the subject. he just sits on a bench nearby as he pulls out his sketchbook. he can pass the time by doodling what he see around him so he doesn't watch the time pass. at least the weather was nice so it made it easy for them to do pretty much anything today which he appreciates.
he instantly turns his gaze towards minsoo and gives a soft smile. "it's fine. i understand how some teachers get," he puts his sketchbook away, focusing his attention on his friend. "i haven't. something to eat sounds good right now honestly. oh? i wouldn't mind us doing that. sure the new exhibit will give a little inspiration for some new artwork as well."

"if it's going to be fine, no one has to know...." minsoo trails off, though it's not quite the same for him. "by that, i mean if it doesn't impede on any of your schedules or commitments, nobody really has to know. but if you feel that it'll be an improvement for something, with balances and not being overwhelmed, then definitely tell somebody. are you going to be okay during exams?" his eye twitched slightly, having been unable to audition with an opportunity due to his own commitments as well. unfortunate, but he didn't feel it proper right now. much like nora, he wanted to finish school too. maybe he wasn't the right fit. maybe he was psyching himself out. but he really didn't know what he wanted to do quite yet. pitiful.
its much like when someone was in the seat for getting their hair cut, always moving out of the proper formation or position that the person wanted. this is what was happening with nora right now, and he moved back into position. "sorry, i'm bad at this," he laughs, though its not the first time they've been in this position. "i hope something funky comes out of this. you do have an eye for a vision."
"but things are going to come to an 'end' right? your commitments don't have to be forever. i think ara lowered her work hours, from what i've heard. have you done that or you're keeping up the same workload? in which case, ma'am, you might be a workaholic."
♡ ⸝⸝ 𝐍𝐎𝐑𝐌𝐀𝐋𝐂𝐘 , ft. @beminsoo.
"don't move." that serves as the only warning nora gives, brows furrowed, concentration clear on her expression as she marks certain measurements, chalk in hand as she grips onto fabric currently laid across the taller males frame. despite her newfound status as a trainee, noras academics still persist as a priority. she's in her final year, and with winter midterms nearing, the need for creativity and inspired creations has yet to let up— conceptual sketches, mock-ups, and proper final products are needed in order to gauge proper progress. who better to ask for assistance in this scenario than minsoo, tall and lean, willowy in all the right ways. currently, noras current actions are an attempt at a first fitting, looking to see what needs to be altered, not only for comfort but also for aesthetics.
"i haven't told my teachers the news," nora remarks offhandedly, leaning away from the leg she'd been marking for further adjustments. "i've never been fond of others knowing the details when it comes to my personal business, and training doesn't look like it'll interfere with my class schedules." thus far, that statement has hold true. while she's only been with lime for a little under a month, balancing her time hasn't been too much of an issue, even with her reduced hours at work. "i just hate how . . . up in the air everything's going to be for the time being." nora isn't sure why she's being so honest, but minsoo is someone she trusts, so that must speak for something.
glancing upwards, nora continues. "lift your arms— i need to make sure the length is just right."

life is cool
he hates it - being late. but his professor had held up the class, licking into the literal :50 end time of their course, when everyone else got to be let out a few minutes early. yadda-yadda, getting every dollar out of their tuition, sure sure, but what if they had a connection to make for next class? come on, man! but minsoo didn't have a next class to attend to - in fact, he was late for meeting up with heechul after class. he jogs a bit towards their meet-up spot on campus, trying to spot his friend. he even did his best to sleep well enough so that he wouldn't be yawning and begging to nap after class, and lucky for them, the weather was good too in case they chose to walk to their destination was too. depending on how they felt, they could always walk off to a cafe, or museum, or even an arcade. or... even outside, if they wanted to really save some cash and savour the weather.
"hey, hey, sorry, teacher got really excited about going on about one of the paintings towards the end of class," he takes a seat beside heechul to rest a little after the rushed jog over. "didn't grab anything to drink or eat while you were waiting? we could go get something now if you'd like. i looked online, and there seems to be a new exhibit that they added to one of the art galleries if you wanted to go there too, or even on another day. discount for students, i think."

the thing called 'blackout drunk' definitely was one of the many labels that could apply to minsoo. no matter how 'normal' the man carried himself during the day, in full sobriety and in the bounds of society's norm within work and school, that all went out the window after dark. sometimes. sometimes! not all the time. today is one of those unfortunate times, especially since he is in friends' company. what he will likely remember is probably going to be whatever people are willing to tell him tomorrow mercifully, or within any photographic evidence.
see, there's always that deep plunge from feeling alright to feeling completely insane. whatever is in front of him is a blur, but it really sounds familiar. "oh? what do you mean, i'm not up, i'm right on the ground," minsoo says before taking a rather deep plunge - yep, seems like he's missed a rather large step. "i'm okay!" he says, as if minsoo wasn't faceplanted against insu's arm right now. "why does it sound like you're not having as much fun as me?"
the drink in his hand sloshes a little bit, and he makes a humming sound, if that could even be heard with the volume in the area. "how about you finish this one, and i'll get us some more?"
⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ☆ ⠀ ⠀ 𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒌𝒚 𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒖𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏
there's no telling what @beminsoo has done this time that he needs insu's help yet again, at this point it's not even surprising to him anymore that the other has even done something to warrant him having to rush over to where the other male is at in order to get him out of this 'sticky situation' that he's even talking about.
there's a million things that are running through his mind, some bad while others just are straight up dumb, though the moment he finally lays eyes on the other he's just dumbstruck over what's happening. he can tell in an instant that minsoo is in a state where he's had one too many, something that causes insu to sigh heavily before he's walking over to the other male. "minsoo, get your ass down from there before you fall and break something!"
even though he's clearly trying to get his friend down, somehow this seems like some sort of invitation from the other party goers to hand him random drinks, and out of frustration insu just takes them without giving it much thought. "damn it minsoo! stop shaking your ass like that!" this was definitely going to be a long night.

"i thought it'd be more put together in a way..." minsoo, ever so critical despite not being able to replicate an ounce of this - not that he'd want to. he's not that interested, but he was here for a fun time, except its just giving him the ick. he's a wuss, he's a wuss. his mouth is a placid line as he glances from the eyeball and flinches a little at seonghan moving it towards him. now he's wholly doing that on purpose and minsoo is likely reacting in exactly the way that he likes it to - ack! "i. don't. care if it's the tastiest thing you've had, it looks gross," he gulps and turns away from seonghan before turning back to give an all around look at the costume again.
there was a part of him that knew it was some sort of vampiric type character, but he didn't know if it was generic or specific. "so... just a vampire? nothing else specific? like no glittery skin vibes or-- forget i said that," it doesn't have to be brought up that twilight was streaming the other day and he just continued watching and ended up finishing the first two films in the background while he was cooking. "i... i'm one of the robins... but off duty, okay." he was being generic, but he did have a costume that he planned on wearing for the party later. besides, they didn't exactly say they had to be in costume for this.. or did they? he sort of got the memo. "i copied this outfit from my closet here," minsoo flips out to a photo of a comic strip on his phone and shows it to seonghan, as if its supposed to be anything impressive, when it was not. lazy lazy. "somehow, i think it would have been cooler if i was one of the other 5 spider-men here. its okay to be generic," he mumbles, trying to eat around the eyeball, as the ordered drink arrives to his table. it seemed to be dark in colour, with such questionable additives. ooh a yummy worm. that was harmless, minsoo thinks, until he takes a bite of it and god, these must be house-made or something, because its so sour and tears prick the corner of his eyes. "i think this is the last time i come out to one of these events for eating, because i am not made for this."
there’s humour in this. his fork stabbing through what looks like a bloody eyeball, picking it up and hovering the strange-looking delicacy over his plate full of what seems to be muck and gunk. he takes out his phone and takes a few pictures, thoroughly amused by how realistic the meals on display are. halloween truly brings out the creativity in people, huh. minsoo seems to be nervous himself, even though seonghan doesn’t get why—probably because the looks of the food is enough to upset anyone’s stomach. but isn’t that the challenge? isn’t that where the fun is in the first place? his eyes flick upwards as he catches minsoo’s somewhat nervous expression. seonghan chuckles under his breath, amused.
“does it gross you out?” he questions, slowly inching his fork—with the eyeball still stuck to it—closer towards the other boy. “it looks quite realistic doesn’t it? weren’t you the one who was curious about the specials they’re having anyway? it’s pretty good work,” seonghan comments, before returning back to his seat. “but it probably tastes like any other meal, and not like an actual eyeball.” to prove a point ( or perhaps to tease minsoo more while he’s watching ), he slips the eyeball in between his lips and chews. “oh, not bad. you should try it yourself.”
seonghan looks down at his attire. “does it look barren once i took off my fangs? even though i added blood to my chin.” but he isn’t offended, he doesn’t feel any particular passion towards dressing up regardless. “i’m a vampire. boo,” he adds on with no particular enthusiasm. “what about you though? i don’t keep up with trends much either, or current popular series. so what are you supposed to be? a specific character? a human customer in a restaurant for monsters?”

"i mean... we should have probably looked up reviews then before spontaneously doing this." if anything, everyone else looks to be rather engrossed and he's doing his best to keep his voice quiet to not disturb them as the guide is leading them around the path, as they huddle like little school kids on their worst behaviour. "there a few more ways i can think of having fun that didn't have us roaming through a.... really grimey hall?" his sleeve caught onto one of the walls and it must be true what the guide said about this place being abandoned because ew, the amount of dirt that came off on to his already neutral shirt. bad idea. following viral trends or whatever was hip but they were already here. "i could have dressed better for this though."
"i wonder how this tour would do in the day?" minsoo thinks that it might be a good idea to dispell any woes he had if he came back to some of these locations the next day but coming back here willingly? as if! his eyes probably told everything if nora looked at him close enough; and if not, his mouth kept rambling away. "if i grab onto you too tightly or scream, hit me or something and i'll stop. gotta keep my wits or.. sanity, or something-- ack," he mumbles, as one of the other guests walked backwards and bumped into him, narrowing his eyes as he tries to zero in on what the guide was saying - ah yea, definitely about the building having been abandoned for many an eon, and how the people who had been left here were still spiritually present. "i can't imagine moving into a haunted apartment. that.... would be eerie."
"it's a good thing my leisure savings are on the heavier side right now, i'd hate to be out too much for something that might not be worth it . . . my expectations are rather high for this, so if this is anything less than amazing, i'll be more than disappointed," nora responds, delivery just as hushed as minsoos had been, brows furrowed slightly as her gaze wanders atounf the space with acute alertness. she hasn't ever been the easiest to scare, a skeptic in many ways who preferred exercising rational thought when it came to more outlandish events, but there's no denying the way her shoulders seem to tense as the two follow along with the group. so far, if nothing else, nora will say the atmosphere is doing wonders.
"any place can be made to feel and look scarier than it actually is, especially at night, so i don't doubt people have seen something odd before," nora begins, an arm reaching out to grasp at the others arm lightly, keeping him in closer range as to not fall behind again ( and totally not to help keep herself grounded, no— nora was fine. not on edge in the slightest ). "don't work yourself up, we've still got a lot to see—" out of the corner of her eye, nora see something flutter in the distance. her jaw clenches slightly. "god, you're making me nervous now."

"doesn't hurt to ask," minsoo says under his breath, laughing at the blunt reaction. he expected nothing else from hyeran though, and it makes sense that she'd stay true to herself during the holiday - no special excuses to erm, ham it up, he supposes. "i mean, if we dress something up as blatantly not couple-y, i am sure people will understand that we aren't. but i get it, i'm sure there's others who are going too. big group costume... not revealing. surprisingly, i think that limits us to about 25% of the shop when it comes to female costumes, so its either going to be a big good luck, or dress up as a nun, maybe. don't worry, i won't go matchy-matchy on you for that."
one of the guys was hosting a party that minsoo was probably going to attend, but at this point maybe he could just pretend to be a lookism character or something-. ordinary, ordinary. generic. effort-less. "animal ears, heavier makeup than usual, cute." minsoo holds out a vampire costume. "one among many, but you could make yourself super glamorous and enhance the ice princess vibes." not that he's implying anything, and he goes through the other costumes, taking a detour to look at the male costumes. harry potter was so boring, and there were so many superheroes. ah yes, one of 10 other spider-men, cool. but he'd rather not be masked up anyway. "oh i could be a racecar driver, that doesn't sound like trash..." he tries to sift through some of the sizes to see if there was one that fit him. oh god, the way he actually felt excited about it. he hadn't expected that, but he did want to look decent.
"i didn't realize there'd be so many joke costumes. who really wants to be an eggplant?"
halloween.
hyeran hadn’t thought about the holiday much. she didn’t have plans, well, not concrete plans, anyways. maybe attend a party or two, she hadn’t given her friends a definitive answer yet.
she’ll need an outfit, though. it’s pretty much required. but what to wear? that’s the question of the day.
she’s distracted rifling through the hangers at the pop-up store, seemingly too many options. does she go with a classic, timeless piece? a black cat, maybe? a pumpkin? a scarecrow?
maybe hyeran should dress as a popular character instead. again, too many options. she’s lost in thought but hears minsoo’s voice calling out to her.
“hm?” she says, looking up. it takes her a moment to process his words, but she begins to speak before he has a chance to clarify. “if we match, would people mistake us as a couple?” hyeran raises an eyebrow. “maybe if we went as a group we could all get matching costumes. who else is going again?” she asks, looking back down at the rack in front of her, already forgetting what costumes she had gone through.
she lets out a laugh at his next comment.
“you’re joking, right?” she looks up at him again. “probably like, a two,” hyeran tells him firmly.

really, he doesn't know what he's doing. but he's learned to forcefully drop any semblance of neuroticism because that's what had him hitting walls in the past, misreading signs, going along for the ride. there's nothing wrong with actually going for the ride, and he's learned that in the last year, becoming more carefree as he went and enjoying his own company, and kind of doing whatever the hell he wanted. it might not be the wisest thing, but minsoo could not put in the same amount of worry anymore. it seems to be wearing well on him, so no complaints here.
and he's willing to let puzzle pieces fall into place, no forcing edges that don't belong together type stuff; whether he was always this person naturally, or if minsoo basically learned it along the way, nature versus nurture ordeal, he's content with letting things happen. hopefully in his favour, but who's to say?
without that stream of thinking, there would have been a very slim likelihood minsoo would have found himself in this situation today, but sarang has been good company all morning. at the comment about the scenery, he's promptly brought out of his thoughts, glancing up at the trees and then back at sarang. "they are nice... i don't appreciate nature enough. but i'm glad the weather stayed tame enough not to ruin the day for us." the compliments aren't missed, they're appreciated really, "i'm not as tall as you say, but if you'd like to be closer to the blossoms at any point, i could.... hoist you up." he hasn't make a habit out of it, but minsoo is pretty sure he could piggyback him if the situation called for it. hey, the offer's there.
"now if we're going to keep on the play of heights..." minsoo doesn't know if its appropriate to poke fun at someone's smaller stature - not that there was anything wrong with being on the more petit side, "i'd say you're... pretty down to earth." shit, was that inappropriate? his eyes avert rapidly to sarang to ensure that he meant no offense, but if it got a small laugh, checkmark on good sense of humour?
HONEY w/ 안민수
it's been awhile. that's all he's thinking about right now. a part of him feels guilty for even pursuing this, but another part of him is eager to indulge; to sink his teeth back into the rose-coded sweetness that only another man can give him. it's bittersweet that he isn't sharing an afternoon like this with alex, or even with ren, but there's a titillating excitement about getting to know someone new.
it's one of sarang's favorite things. honestly, he sort of forgot about that, especially since, even outside of his last relationships, he spends most of his time at axis labels; surrounded by extremely familiar people day-in-and-day-out, doing the same ol' same like he's in a never-ending revolving door he can't break free from.
today, that all changes, and hoping to remain optimistic, sarang lets his naturally freewheeling nature overpower any guilt that's present within him. besides, he doesn't want minsoo to think that he's not focused on the goings-on of their time together, or that he's not intrigued in getting to know him better. so, in an attempt to establish more closeness, he keeps his pace steady with the other's and leans into him slightly; their different heights making it somewhat awkward, yet endearing all at once.
"aren't the ginkgo trees beautiful this time of year?" he asks, fingers wrapping around his piping hot cup of apple cider, keeping his hands warm. earlier on, they decided to start with a nice walk through seoul forest, then cozy up over sweets in a café. sarang remains hopeful that they'll still be in one another's orbit after that, though. if it were up to him, they'd be together all day. "i'm a little jealous of you. you're so tall, you have a much closer view of all the leaves."
with that, he looks toward minsoo and scrunches his nose. "how does it feel, hmm? to be so much closer to the sky..." giggling, he lifts his cup and takes a sip of his beverage; humming at its sweetness, cooing at how it delicately toasts his soul. "from my point-of-view, you're basically the same height as the trees!"

deer in headlights.
"can you believe it cost about $40 for this? it better be good," minsoo mumbles very quietly to nora so that nobody else would hear. sure, he can have rude opinions but that didn't mean everyone had to hear them. only nora. haha! but he's a skeptic. he's never partook in the ghost and dark history tour before, and he's never bode well with those creepypastas or dark stories on youtube and podcasts. ( yes, that's right. he muchly prefers the classics or things about ancient history, not so much this - not an indulgent of his, oh no. ) they'd already begun walking from the train station, which was the meeting area, but minsoo's not sure what they're really supposed to get scared from. but at least there's a small crowd and the pair of them could hear the guide very well. if nothing else, the guide was very engaging. they slowly walk through the gyeonghui palace at night. but walking in this place, nevermind in the dark, was already rather eerie to begin with.
"have the ghosts been spotted before...?" he couldn't help but quip up, as he'd gotten distracted, and fell behind the group before running back up to walk beside nora. he could put up a front about not being freaked, but the truth is he felt a bit of tingling anxiety when he was left behind. ghosts. they'd just left an abandoned school, and minsoo couldn't quite believe that there were ghosts there, he was now beginning to feel some wind on his neck. whispers? no no, just the wind. "damn, i'm a wuss, nora."

twilight.
minsoo isn't typically one to celebrate halloween, but this year, he's been getting egged on to participate. so now that's what finds him and hyeran here, trying to find something worthwhile to dress up in. and they're here early too, there are weeks left into the end of the holiday. maybe he's taking it too seriously. but if not, he's going to end up bailing out of these 'themed halloween parties'. one of the stores they're in seems to be a pop up for halloween costumes, but some of these prices are obnoxious for the things they're getting. ( he'd much rather spend this where it'd be utilized on a daily basis or weekly. not a one time throwaway. ) "do you have any idea of what you actually want to dress up as? i know they did say costume mandatory but at this rate we might get better deals of those online shops... if they get shipped in time."
"okay.... would you actually want to attend in matchy matchy ones?" and while minsoo isn't against attending a party by himself, he prefers going with someone he already knows. "or... okay, maybe if you find something that you think i should try, and vice versa, we can try them on in the fitting rooms," which could also be bound for a fun afternoon, or at least, and hopefully bring something back. "okay, on a scale of 1 to 10, how revealing are you okay with?"

chasing that feeling.
even though there's alcohol involved, minsoo is absolutely not sold on the idea of them. they look rather disgusting. pardon him not to be indulgent of the gore and bloody things, he's always erred on the side of preferring everything more pretty, dainty. and this bloody eyeball drink thing was definitely not to his liking. not that it matters if he downs it in one go, right? maybe he should have suggested heading to gangnam instead of itaewon, but everyone seems to have hyped up all the fun Halloween themed food so much to the point that yes - minsoo gave into the hype. and into the hype of the 'specials' that the waitress had offered, but now that he saw someone's order coming by, he was not convinced.
"as long as it tastes good...? no, i don't know. i think this simply isn't for me." so much for getting into the mood of things. he'd even dressed up for this, which wasn't a bad thing, the other patrons were also dressed for the atmosphere. taking a look around, alright, he really should give the place some slack. everyone else looked so freakin' happy.
"what are you dressed up as anyway?" minsoo's eyes squint at trying to figure out what @beseonghan was supposed to be, if there was even a theme of some sort. "or did i totally get that wrong and you're being another version of your usual self, because forgive me, i don't really catch up with the trends these days." the waitress stops by and puts both of their orders on their table with a thump, and there's a little bit of translucent red that spills over. for effect, no doubt. "oh i think i'm going to be si-... thank you, thank you." his line of a mouth stretching further as he stares, and stares.
