It is not uncommon for people who experience extreme trauma to give personalities to inanimate objects as a form of coping.

the hargreeves brothers + chacha’s descriptions ↪ It’s like a Hargreeves family handbook. Let me tell you, they’re a real freakin’ mess.

Dad was wrong for keeping you locked up all those years. I should have said something. We all should have.

Though I have to admit- Klaus probably had the biggest heart out of all of us, so big that our father saw it as weak and ruined Klaus, broke Klaus, in an awful attempt of 'fixing' him. Maybe he still has a big heart, and it's just buried beneath the blackness of drugs and alcohol and self deprecation. I sincerely hope one day Klaus finds something- or someone- that gives him a reason to get better and teaches him to love again.

If anything bonded us- all of us, every single one of us- it was her. She was kind and caring, she took note of each and every one of us. She showed nothing but support and gave nothing but encouragement. From small things like watching me practicing the violin and helping Diego with his stutter, to bigger things like helping Klaus through his withdrawls and keeping Ben distracted from the pain of the horror inside him trying to force itself out, she was always there. Maybe originally she was simply meant to be a robot designed to take care of us while our father was too busy with other things, but as the years went on she became our mom in every sense of the word.

My name is Vanya Hargreeves, and this is my story. I was one of seven children and one of two girls adopted by Reginald Hargreeves. Unlike my siblings, The Umbrella Academy, I had no powers. I was nothing special. Compared to my superhero siblings, who were extraordinary, I was extra ordinary.

I don't think anyone realized how close Ben and Klaus actually were until Ben had died. Klaus had locked himself in Ben's room for weeks and almost never came out. The few times he did was only to fuel his worsening addictions to even harder drugs. Everyone was worried, but no one knew how to talk about it.

Five was always so kind to me. I know I said Allison and I spent a lot of time together, but she was only second to Five. He would watch me practice my violin, and I would time how long it took him to teleport from one side of the house to the other. He would sneak away during training sessions just to come talk to me. He said I was the only one of our siblings he liked because I 'didn't have an ego the size of the moon.' I felt like he saw me as a part of the family rather than someone else who just happened to live in the same house.

Luther always acted better than me. Better than everyone, actually. He was dads favorite, afterall. Dad spent more time with Luther than any of us combined. I never really got to know Luther. He was a rule follower and since I wasn't allowed to join the others, we never talked unless in passing. I guess I can't really hate him for it, considering we were just kids, but it still left a mark. On all of us, I'm guessing.

Diego really took the whole 'superhero' thing to heart, and it was almost admirable. He constantly tried to show up Luther, prove himself to dad. He had to be the fastest and the wittiest and the best at everything he did. It always made me laugh though, how different he was to the public than inside the house. In public, he was a superhero who saved the city. At home, he wore a pink apron while helping mom with the dishes.
