in evergreen pines, people vanish and no one remembers. a few still do. survivors, outsiders, believers. something ancient watches, erasing lives and memories alike.

πŒπŽππˆπŠπ„π‘: reverend silas wren

π€π‹πˆπ†ππŒπ„ππ“: lawful evil

𝐂𝐔𝐑𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐓 π‹πŽπ‚π€π“πˆπŽπ: resides in the old rectory behind the chapel, rarely seen outside it after dusk
ππ„π‘π’πŽππ€π‹πˆπ“π˜:
impeccably mannered. serpentine. charismatic. always listening. always knowing. you never see him angry but you never forget what he says when he’s calm.
ππˆπŽπ†π‘π€ππ‡π˜:
silas wren has led holy ember chapel for as long as anyone alive remembers butoddly, no records show when he was actually appointed. he speaks of evergreen pines like he helped build it with his bare hands, like he bled for it. and maybe he did.
he holds strange sway over the town’s council, a group more secretive than governing. their meetings are private. their minutes, sealed. but when people vanish, the council never blinks and silas never speaks against it. in fact, his sermons shift subtly afterward. less scripture. more sacrifice.
silas believes evergreen pines is a holy ground, a threshold between the seen and unseen. he preaches that those who disappear are β€œcalled” or β€œcleansed” or β€œchosen,” depending on who asks. he believes the town must be kept balanced and sometimes, balance comes at a price.
there are whispers, though. that he doesn’t just condone the vanishings, he chooses them. that he’s not just part of the disappearancesβ€”he’s the gatekeeper.
π”ππ’ππŽπŠπ„π π“π‡πˆππ†π’:
β€Ώ has old photographs of townsfolk who β€œnever existed”
β€Ώ town records show him listed as present at funerals from 1939
β€Ώ the woods grow closer to the chapel every year, yet never cross his fence line
β€Ώ known to burn pages from his own bible during private services
β€Ώ eyes go black for a split second when he says certain names
π‚πŽπππ„π‚π“πˆπŽππ’:
β€Ώ mercy wren
his duaghter that he has sheltered. obedient on the surface, but questioning more than he knows
β€Ώ juniper calloway
a bold voice against tradition. silas sees her as a growing threat.
β€Ώ elowen whitlock
she asks questions he believes she has no business asking, refers to her as the defiant one.
β€Ώ thomas bellamy
fellow council member, he believes his loyalty is wavering, he senses the cracks forming
β€Ώ rhys calloway
he was once a trusted ally, noticed he keeps his distance and is very cautious, silas is quietly testing his loyalty.
β€Ώ eve rowan
he believes she knows more than she says, thinks she is useful but can’t trust her fully.
β€Ώ jonah ward
he believes he is too observant, too curious and how found out what to do with him just yet.

πŒπŽππˆπŠπ„π‘: elowen whitlock
π“πˆπ“π‹π„π’: the rememberer, the ghost-touched
π’ππ„π‚πˆπ„π’: human.

π€π‹πˆπ†ππŒπ„ππ“: neutral good
ππˆπ‘π“π‡ππ‹π€π‚π„: evergreen pines.
𝐂𝐔𝐑𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐓 π‹πŽπ‚π€π“πˆπŽπ: the whitlock cabin, edge of the woods.
ππ„π‘π’πŽππ€π‹πˆπ“π˜:
quietly intense. always observing. trauma-hardened but sharp with compassion where it counts. paranoid in ways that make too much sense. loathed by the town for knowing too much, feared for remembering what no one else does.
ππˆπŽπ†π‘π€ππ‡π˜:
elowen whitlock was ten years old when her older brother disappeared on the way home from school. one moment, he was beside her; the next, only an empty bike and her own screams. no one believed her. her parents denied he ever existed. neighbors shrugged. teachers called her β€œtroubled.” then three years later, her best friend disappeared and no one else remembered she ever existed. not her teachers. not her parents. not even a photo left behind. just elowen.
elowen grew up quietly, eyes wide open. she stopped speaking about what she knew, but never stopped watching. when others vanished, she wrote down their names. their routines. their final conversations. she mapped the woods. marked the trees. recorded patterns in a dozen notebooks hidden beneath floorboards, inside hollow books, under loose porch boards.
now, years later, elowen is the only one who remembers every name that’s been wiped, every face that’s been scrubbed from memory. it’s a curse that’s made her a pariah and a problem.
whatever is behind the disappearances, whatever watches the town from the treeline; it knows her name but it hasn’t touched her.
not yet.
π”ππ’ππŽπŠπ„π π“π‡πˆππ†π’:
β€Ώ her childhood photos show people no one else remembers, such as with her best friend or her younger brother who disappeared.
β€Ώ carries a locket with a face no one can identify
β€Ώ known to the preacher as β€œthe defiant one”
β€Ώ sometimes she says things before they happen
β€Ώ reported missing once, turned up 6 hours later covered in dirt and claw marks, with no memory of where she’d been
π‚πŽπππ„π‚π“πˆπŽππ’:
β€Ώ silas wren
he sees her as dangerous and she knows what the town is supposed to forget.
β€Ώ mercy graves
they share a quiet understanding. elowen suspects mercy remembers more than she lets on.
β€Ώ lillian bellamy
lillian doesn’t remember, but she believes elowen and that might be enough.
β€Ώ juniper calloway
one of the few who defends her out loud. juniper thinks elowen is telling the truth and she’s right.
β€Ώ jonah ward
he asks too many questions. she wants to protect him before he disappears too.
β€Ώ eve rowan
they rarely speak directly, but share a glance like they’ve known each other in another life.
