Hi hi! Anatomy definitely is something that I struggle (still struggle) to draw.

There's lots of useful advice out there on the internet.

But my personal advice is: there's no shame in using models and references!

Find a pose, either via CSP or stock image

Important step: break down the body into their own separate shapes. If you have CSP, I highly recommend you fiddle with the body's movement, so you can understand the angles and its limitations. Pay attention to the shape of the arm/ forearms; legs and calves, etc. When you practice enough, you'll slowly start learning that each body part has a particular shape to them. (You can then further learn how to stylize these shapes.)

Once the shapes are "extracted", don't stop there. Lower the opacity of the model and redraw& refine. Anime has its own anatomy that doesn't always follow how models look like. For Kaito's case, I adjusted his head, the position of his ears. I like the head : body ratio being a bit on the smaller end, so I shrank his head.

Removing the model completely, I look at Kaito's anatomy again. Could use some work because foreshortening is lost once the shadows are removed. I fiddle some more, rotating and transforming his face around until it looks right.

Color wooo.

As long as it's not posted anywhere and strictly for practice, you can use other artists' illusts and break them down into shapes to better understand that artists' anatomy. Just to throw this out there, if you'd like to redraw my pics for practice, go ahead~ ^^/

When it comes to stylizing anime anatomy, there's a lot of different stylizations, so you should definitely diversify and study until you figure out what you like best!

EG: Tsubasa Resevoir Chronicle elongate the limbs of the character for their anatomy.

When I was drawing for this fandom, my style changed along with it--- elongating the characters' forms. ^oT Behold.. long legs...

But anyways, it's a never ending journey of drawing! Hope this helps (?!)

potentially hard pill to swallow: you may never have irl aro friends a day in your life. you may meet other aros (and you probably will, even if you don't know it—we're out there, even if we only ever pass each other on the street) and you may even be one of the lucky few to make an aro friend irl. but i'm willing to bet odds are you won't, unless you have access to a very active and vibrant queer community, and even then, it's no guarantee.

but finding like-minded people doesn't mean those people have to share your identity. you can and should find people who care about and respect you, too, regardless of the aspects of you they can't ever fully understand. there's value in finding people who Get It, which is what makes online spaces so crucial. but it's important to remember that denying the possibility of people unlike you enriching your life the same way is a means of self-inflicted loneliness.

sometimes the fantasy of an irl friend group full of aros is real—and god am i jealous sometimes! but often it is exactly that, a fantasy. sometimes there isn't anybody else. sometimes it's just you. and that can be isolating, but it's not synonymous with loneliness, and i think that's the important part.

Suddenly remembered that one time I was coming home from the Ren Faire dressed as OOT Zelda, and we stopped off to eat at iHop, and there was a dad with two little girls there. And mentally i was like 'hohoho perhaps the girls will be excited to see A Princess, as I would have at that age' but what happened instead was the dad saw me and his eyes went REALLY wide and he gasped and said "PRINCESS ZELDA??????"
