thinking about. how terrako can get "attached" to people and things on account of their self-learning systems....thinking about how they might've had someone, even someones, they were cosy with millennia before even meeting zelda.....thinking about how they might've had another name before everything....thinking about. what could lead you to override your own directives. the impact of erasing laws built into your system. thinking about how if terrako had not been deactivated like every other sheikah device during the schism that would lead to the yiga clan's creation, they would've bore full witness to the royal family's atrocities, to the violent oppression of their creators.

     Terrako makes a point of slowly rolling their optic around in their socket: mapping a perfect three-hundred-sixty degrees to convey concept://annoyance. Yes, ceasefire, ceasefire! They bring this sustenance without caveats or grievances. Their contender-knight has been on first watch for too many hours without organic fuel; it would be detrimental if he malfunctioned in the middle of such a key directive.

     It raises the top of its chassis without so much as a warble, unceremoniously releasing the package clamped between its halves onto the floor. They nudge it towards him with a toot. They don't know exactly what's wrapped within those leaves, but upon evaluation, they're sixty percent certain it's sufficiently edible and eighty percent certain it's rice balls.      Terrako readily leans into her hand, optic unwaveringly fixed on that smile and shining ever brighter. It doesn't know what it's like to laugh. As it is, it does the next best thing: mimicking the rhythm of Zelda's past giggles — sound-clips securely stored and marked modifier://important in its memory systems — with short, whistling chirps of its own.

     Terrako sings a trio of swooping notes, high-low-high, and they reach for her hand before she can completely retract it. They catch her index finger in the gentlest grasp they can deliver, holding it in place between the two of them to shake it up and down, up and down. in responding to the most recent meme, i've come to the understanding that they do not get embarrassment or shame the way organics do sfklsdjklg it's a flesh-haver thing for them....not even zelda would be able to make them "feel" this, the closest it gets to the feeling is "i've made her unhappy nooooooo PRIMARY DIRECTIVE ( make zelda as happy as possible always ) FAILED"

     Concept://excuse you! Terrako's inclination towards justifiable violence at any given moment is a product of their own very robust self-learning systems, not due to any Sheikah interference! Supplementary or otherwise. ( Their original programmers have been defunct for a long time, so they don't count. )

     And what's to be concept://ashamed of about it? It's a valuable directive to have! Something learnt over years of observing organics, particularly the more diminutive ones, around it — it certainly gets the message across faster than any of its pitched beeps can.

     Terrako activates their combat system, beginning to charge up the signature move installed in all Guardians, complete with projected sightline and warning alarm notes. Its reticle isn't aimed at any fragile organic, of course, but it may be in your best interests to clear the way anyway. Or step right into focus and hope you've been placed high enough in the coded tiers of program://units Zelda does not want hurt. Someone is going to have to prepare for building reparations otherwise—

Not only does she approach when she apparently wants to be concept://annoying, she's made swipes at their optic before; how can they be certain she won't do it again?!

     Terrako's a self-respecting Guardian. Urbosa just rightly called them a knight! They're not some child's plaything ( unless that child is Zelda ).

     Terrako's not going to do what? They swat the finger thrust at their optic away with a sharp chirp, lid-top huffing all the way up in tetchy code. Don't be concept://stupid! Of course they're not going to start absorbing any fleshy organic's soul — much less the Yiga Clan's — out of the blue! If they could do that, don't you think they would've done it hundreds of times over already with every single threat Zelda's faced?!

     And really, the sentiment is very mutual. He and his people might've gotten concept://totally fucked over by the Calamity too, but that has yet to amount to something deserving of Terrako's full confidence in their ability to ensure Zelda's survival-then-so-longevity-then-so-happiness. It skitters a circle around the Yiga, pointedly leaning forwards to emphasise its watchful stare as it drones the lowest tone its voice-synth will reach.

     It's forty-two percent convinced he'd sooner retreat or turn his blade on them again under lightly applied pressure — you'd better prove it wrong, Master Kohga!
