Added his boi to my Warhammer Art fight page! Ive only been a little obsessed with him shhhhh

Malo was raised as a typical cadian until he was 13 where he was kidnapped,

quick side note Malo has the blank gene but not very strongly. The warp can't affect him but he can't affect psykers,

from there he became a gladiator slave in an underground night lord city. [by underground i do mean it was in a cave] He was originally just supposed to get ripped apart but kept winning the small battles they threw at him. He was also given a cadian officer jacket they took off a dead one as a mockery of him.

by age 23 he was fighting against more standard xeno mostly dark eldars and could match if not surpass them in speed [he's fast enough to cut bullets from the air as long as he can see them] and he was allowed out of his gladiator cage. Making him able to walk around the city Feely but only allowed to carry a sword at most. He also gained the title "Imperial dog",

age 26 he caught the attention of a night lord. He was then put in the gladiator ring against one. Before they could take his head off a custode showed up in the ring and ended the fight in a draw.

Malo being a being of nothing but stress, survival, and aggression did not like the new custode [Kallaxor] as he changed the ways he understood how to survive. [often drawing unwanted attention]

Kallaxor did not remove Malo from the city as Malo threatened to kill himself many times if he tried. Given Kallaxor purpose was to keep him alive it more or less worked. not to mention Malo did try to make good on the threat more than once until Kallaxor backed off.

a few months or a few years later [undecided] space wolves showed up for reconnaissance [undecided for what] discovered Malo and later fully raided the city burning it to the ground and forcing Malo on to the imperium ship more or less,

Malo was then thrown into proper imperium training. Given his aggression, blank trait giving him the menacing kanji around him and anti social nature he has difficulty making friends., however him always being quick to defend "his men" both physically and verbally [he was the same rank as them] quickly earned their trust at the very least

at some point he's also single handedly killed a few chaos space marines. He can't match a marine for strength but he is much faster. If they could get a hit in he would be dead but they got to get that hit in first,

I haven't given too much thought to his climb through the ranks up to Lord General but the whole time he also had Kallaxor which he used as a tool in his arsenal to minimize casualties on his side and maximize it on the enemy side.,

he's also the general that leads from the front and is often neck deep in the enemy while his men are firing from farther back,

Other notes

Malo is left handed but half the time he has dual swords and he shoots with his right hand sword in the left

he would and has made threats at space marines and assaulted his senior officers who piss him off with poor tactics, though he will only push it as far as he can with out getting executed or punished terribly. Hes a lot more vocal/physical when Kallaxor is there to keep him from dying.

he also always wears his torn up uniform from the gladiator ring and refuses the finery even when he's lord general.

His troops know they are going to have a bad time when he is wearing a new coat because that means he plans on 'wearing it in' during the next battle [typically a very brutal one]

hes often also eating among his men with the same food as the common soldier. most of the finer things hes offered as a lord general he denies. Even the large fancy rooms of the ship he hes stationed in he will convert it into something more useful like an out patient apothecary room.

his fighting force is called "the imperial dogs"

Malo often spars with Kallaxor as no one in his army can match his speed. He cant beat Kallaxor but Kall also knows how to pull punches he knows Malo cant stop

Malo also has specific ways to slight people who are higher rank than him. [When he becomes lord general his fighting force also takes up this habit] My lord = I respect you. M'lord = Im forced to show respect I dont think you deserve

Some more of benelli and Sam. Under the cut is their story and other beasts/characters of the world

World: the world developed the same as the world we know with some exceptions, husks, spirit beasts, ways of buildings, and some weapon ammo/material types.

Husks and breaches: in this world there are incidents that happen semi regularly. [Between 2 times a year to upwards of 6 within a 100 mile radius. This happens globally] these are called breeches. There can be minor breeches that aren't as catastrophic. More about that later. Time for what is a breech. When a breech starts there is no warning and a what can best be described as a portal opens up under ground. Typically any where between 500 ft to a mile underground. When the portal opens up husks will crawl out of the ground and start wreaking havoc, attempting to kill anything that moves. They aren't faster than humans but they are stronger and typically taller though their bodies look emaciated and are quite frail when hit with the correct type of damage. Average 7-9 feet tall. They can best be described as ashy or if you've seen a burnt book their "skin" has layers that look like the burnt book pages. [See photo] When they are above ground other than attacking any people they will move away from the breech origin to try and spead out. There is no reasoning with them as they have less mind than a feral animal. So the big breeches known as just breeches can have hundreds of husks coming out of it. Smaller breeches often called that or incidents are significantly smaller and the portal is typically 0-10 feet below ground and the amount of husks that come out of said incident are only about 10-30 husks total. When husks are killed or the portal is destroyed all husks spawned from said portal turn to ash and dissolve on the spot. The ash left behind is still aways present but is less than would be expected. Breeches also typically will not happen in the same area of 100 miles for 8 weeks. There has been no exception yet but there's always a first time.

Humans way to kill husks and their weak spots: so humans have a single way they can kill a husk, glass. Husks can only be damaged with glass, can not move through or damage glass [including blunt force they are not smart enough to think about using tools]. Humans have special designed bullets to fire glass bullets [they still have regular bullets for human conflict], glass knives/swords [the original method before guns and used when the gun goes click], most buildings first floor is either straight glass walls or glass lined to protect from damage. However humans also have one other method but that is only for the choosen few. Those are people who became bonded to a spirit beast.

Spirit beasts: it's kinda like how it sounds. It's a ghostly looking version of an animal both science fiction and real however they don't have any magic other than what will be mentioned regardless of what form they are. So to get a spirit beast is just a random chance, you are kinda just choosen and one day you'll suddenly have one. Their entire purpose [self given] Is to kill husks and destroy the portals. On average there will be about 1 beast per 100,000 humans ish [number undecided but there do be a lot which is why humanity wasn't wiped out]. A spirit beast also can not go more than a mile away from the person who they are bonded to. Meaning for those portals that are almost a mile underground? The summon has to stand where all the husks are rising from and the person is still just a person but it is incredibly rare for it to be more than 1/2 mile down. Spirit beasts don't have inherent knowledge of where the breech is but they can sense the husks once they appear and the higher the concentration is typically above said portal.

Things a spirit beast can do, their attacks do the same damage as their animal would do but is highly effective against the frail bodied husks. The beasts are typically ghost like and transparent though they can't disappear as well as they can pass through anything [glass included]. They are always non tangible to everything and everyone unless they focus on making specific parts or all of them tangible. However the reverse is true for their bonded human. They are always tangible to them specifically unless they are focusing on it. They are also always tangible to husks but whether that's because whether they have to focus on it or not they are always wanting to hit/hurt them. Spirit beasts also can fly. Most of the time for the larger beasts they will fly in the air or be underground to be out of the way though you can always see through them and normally just walk through them. For a spirit beast to break a portal is just has to pass through the space of where it is but most of the issue is getting to it and trying to find it as it's a bit hard to see when passing through solid objects.

The bonded also get a small stone for their beast that when it's touching their skin they can speak to each other across any distance. The spirit beasts also have well educated human levels of intelligence. Also if the bonded person dies, the spirit beast also disappears so they do their best to protect their squishy human when they can.

Sam, Benelli and Toshin:

Sam personality: she is rather hot tempered but not violently so. She just has some strong opinions and will make sure they are known. She's also soft hearted and will help anyone she can but not to the point of being taken advantage of.

So Samantha Hall is a 19 year old college student when she suddenly became bonded to a spirit beast and not just any average one, hers was a dragon similar to again wyrm dragons. His name is Toshin and when he appear it became a bit of a hot sensation as while spirit beasts aren't the most uncommon, having a very large one is very uncommon and brought media attention to Sam. Most of it didn't result in anything, no breeches happened but it did attract the attention of one of the local Mob families.

A few months later [Sam is now 20] she is kidnapped by said family [earlier attempts at bribes didnt work] and held at gun point, more or less preventing Toshin on acting in rage. The mobs idea was if they can get Sam to work for them whether under threat or not would be a huge leg up over other crime organizations because how much damage can a dragon do? [A lot]. So they brought her back to their manor to continue their "negotiations" and one of the younger members pulled Sam from the car holding her and keeping a gun to her head. When Sam continued basically saying "no fuck you." The lead man said "fine shoot her." That sparked big rage in toshin and he started more or less a rampage. The younger member holding the gun didn't pull the trigger while toshin was murdering basically his whole family [initial shock is one hell of a drug]. Within a minute the entire family was dead save the guy holding a gun to Sam's head.

Getting his whits back he threatened to shot Sam if he tried to kill him, to which Toshin responded with holding a boulder over him and Sam. If he killed Sam Toshin would disappear and the boulder would crush him. After a small bit of negotiating the guy let her go and stood among his dead family while she left and called the police.

Sam is very shaken up by this for a good while. Imagine her surprise when she goes to her lecture class to find the same man who had pointed a gun at her head now working as security for her college. She may have shouted "what the fuck are you doing here?!" In the middle of class but was told she was being rude to the trainee and to pay attention to class. When class was over she obviously followed him out rather pissed and questioned/threatened him where he gave her his name, Benelli Barrett, and the very bare bones of what happened after they first met.

Benelli personality: rather cold and rarely smiles. His only talents are forms of violence, shooting, and different types of hand to hand combat. Note he is only 22 but is often mistaken for being 32-35.

Benelli was adopted into the mafia family before he could walk. His legal name was Benjamin Bailey which is on his birth certificate and is the only legal document about him but he doesn't have it and is more or less not in the system due to it. All his other documents including a false birth certificate have Benelli Barrett on it, given to him by the family. He was given his first airsoft gun around the same time he could speak a sentence, was taught to fire guns by the age of 6, and was given guns of his own by the age of 13. During all of that time he was also taught how to fight both against people and husks.

His main job in the family when he reached the age of 16 and looks more like a man was to be one of the guys that stand behind the boss and look intimidating/shoot someone when ordered to. He disagreed with the idea of trying to force/threaten Sam into their service. When told to shoot Sam he did hesitate because despite is upbringing he isn't a violent monster. Before he could have said "maybe we shouldnt" Toshin was already ripping through them. At that point he realized he could have shot Sam and ended it however he half thought "we deserve this/had it coming".

When he let Sam go he was expecting to be killed and had for a moment debated joining his family. He sat at the fountain in the driveway among the carnage when the police arrived and arrested him. He more or less answered every question they had under the condition he gets released and he had a lot of information to give them. He did however leave out any parts about other criminal groups so he wouldn't get targeted by them, however there was plenty within the family to satisfy the police. Many cold cases were closed. It took about a month and half for them to get all the information out of him. He was also allowed to do a mass funeral for his family members. The only ones attending were Benelli and the police [all other crime organizations that had relations good or bad werewise enough not to go.]

Everyone in the family did have a will and each had a list of the entire family in next of kin in order of who they wanted it to go to. If someone left the family for what ever reason they were typically written out of everyone's will unless they were actual siblings or children of said person. This all meaning, Benelli was the next of kin for most of them. While a chunk of the assets/money was removed because of criminal reasons all of the clean money went to Benelli. He could live comfortably for a while with out a job however one of the sections in his plea deal was that he had to keep a legal job and not get arrested for 5 years.

So with his lack of experience in literally everything and how disastrous it would be if he was in customer service, he found a hiring poster for the civilian version of his Mob job, college security. And his first day where he was placed in as the flex guard [he moves to different classes a lot for the main guard to go on break] he runs into to who else but Sam.

Back to the present

Sam decides to not rat on him to his boss or tell her parents so they wouldn't do the same thing. Mostly out of curiosity and Toshin saying he will keep an eye on him in case he tries anything.

Benelli is quickly becoming viewed as the campus badass [some people on campus enjoy making "thrist" traps of him just kind of existing which he is unaware of because he doesnt social media] and he and Sam's hate for each other becomes well known around campus. If they ever talk it often is them arguing argessively. Benelli is also well liked among his coworkers mainly because he out classes ever single one of them but never brags about it. He also uses his own guns as he doesn't like the quality supplied to him.

Sam's opinion of benelli doesn't really change until her first breech as a spirit bonded happens and she has to go in. She was in the class benelli is a guard of and when she runs out to get picked up by toshin benelli follows. His reasoning is his job is to protect the students and that includes Sam. Plus the breech is far enough from the college they wouldn't get hit by husks before everyone was safe in bunkers.

Toshin dropped them off in the down town area he thought would be safe enough while he went to search for the breech. Needless to say it was a lot of benelli keeping the husks off the both of them. Towards the end when benelli's mag was empty and one of the husks was over Sam. He ran over to try and stop the husk when it whipped around and dug 2 claws into his side and lifting him 3 feet off the ground. He manually chambered a round and shot the husk in the head, dropping the husk and himself to the ground. To give you an idea of how big the stab was he had 2 stabs on his left side just above the hip, the first and longer one went from there and curved up to an inch from his heart and bisecting one of his lungs, the other was shorter and went to about the middle of his abdomen. Either was he's not doing well.

Sam panicking is trying to hold his wounds closed well benelli is half curled on the ground having the bad time and she is screaming both out loud and through the spirit stone for toshin to hurry up and help. Toshin does manage to break the portal sending the husks advancing on Sam to ash. He is then very quickly at her side and puts his spector body over benelli and because toshin can selective make parts of him solid and not solid, toshin remakes all the severed veins from the stabs, it doesn't heal him by any means however is immediately stops him from bleeding as they transport him to a hospital that is farther away from the initial breech as those are going to have the most recent victims and be full of people.

Upon their arriving, Benelli is immediately put in intensive care and surgery to stitch him back together while toshin stays with him as basically life support and keeping his insides from shifting and misalining. This hospital was also picked because Sam's parents lived very close by so when she was hovering over benelli she could sleep at her parents. While big stab is big bad because of toshin and the docs stitching, benelli was stable and able to be discharged a week later, and of course he didn't tell Sam about it. Needless to say she was a bit panicked about it and was just furious when she saw him standing at his guard position. They also learned there's a viral video from a video camera someone had set up the more or less caught benelli being a badass and him getting stabbed with a lot of people trying to figure out who it was. When Sam kinda blew up at benelli for working after he got stabbed kind of confirmed it and it was quickly spread.

Sam did rat benelli out to his boss forcing benelli to take sick leave until he got a doctor's note saying he was good to go back to work. For the rest of the day because benelli refused to sit at his apartment he spent it with Sam [despite his protest] until his fatigue was too much and he caved and went home. He still continued to "patrol" the college those he wasn't allowed to have his badge on. During this time the media as you know picked up on it being him and he was called in for a news interview which he refused to go to until his boss said so. Mostly because doing so could bring in more funding for security in general so they can upgrade or update their gear.

Benelli was an ass the entire time mostly not answering, saying "I legally can't say" to anything about his past, or egging on Sam who was also at the interview. They also more or less called benelli old by implying he's over 30. He's also very grumpy as he's not allowed to smoke with a lung cut in half.

At one point benelli does have dinner with Sam's parents so they can thank him for saving their daughter, undecided if this is before or after he's healed but regardless he spills the beans he was part of the Mob and held a gun to Sam's head, you know, the thing she didn't tell them. They were understandably upset about and got in an argument with Sam over it cause they are worried about their child. Eventually they agree to more or less let it go and not get him fired from his job.

After benelli was healed him and Sam still argue plenty but the venomous undertone is significantly less. At least from Sam's side, Benelli never cared at much. She often will drag him to the lunch she and her friends do between classes and if they spot benelli taking a nap on the grass her and her friends will often sit near him, much to his annoyance.

Later on during a school dance benelli was on guard duty during the part with everyone coming it. He was filling it and was told he could go in and get free food if he covered and so he did. Sam and her friends also went to the dance however Sam's dare more or less stood her up but she still went to spend time with her friends who were all couples. Sam noticed benelli at the food table and walked over to him to not be standing alone. She more or less gets him to promise not to leave so she has someone to stand next to when her friends are slow dancing with their partners. Fast forward through the night and Sam be drinking the punch she doesn't realized is spiked, benelli and everyone else does but figured she also knew. So through the night she is getting slowly more drunk. At one point she drags benelli to slow dance, which his Mob boss was a big fan of ball room dancing so he was trained in it. At the end of the night benelli ends up taking Sam home with him for a few reasons 1. Sam is under aged and if there are cops checking she would get arrested for under aged drinking 2. He doesn't know where any of her friends live/are 3. Toshin asked him to look over her 4. He figured she didn't want her parents to see her black out drunk as she's not a party-er and 5. She is black out drunk at this point and he does want to make sure she doesn't have alcohol poisoning.

So they make it to his apartment and he picks out some of his clothes for her to change into, helps her upzip part of her dress before leaving the room so she can do the rest and go to bed. He lays on the couch and is watching TV quietly when drunk Sam comes out, in the impromptu pj's and lays on him. She does hit on him a little bit before passing out and him carrying her back to the bed and him returning to the couch. Note he also tried getting her to drink plenty of water before bed.

[This is fluctuates a bit but more or less kinda goes the same way regardless] Next morning Sam wakes up in a Strange room [benelli's] and of course is a bit freaked out about it. She woke up to her friends blowing up her phone like "girl where are you it's noon and you ain't at the dorm." Sam asks toshin the fuck happened cause last she remembers was early hours of the dance, and he fills her in though he didn't hear anything said. When she exits the room benelli is dressed for the day sitting at the table drinking a coffee. Benelli refuses to tell Sam anything that was said after she was drunk to save her from embarrassment and did inform her the punch was spiked. Sam still had her friends on the phone at the time and benelli Saud might as well invite them over and he'll make breakfast, which he does. A very simple one of pancakes but hey its something. Friends come over and pepper Sam with questions, benelli answers no one cause he's an attitude bean and eventually sam heads back to her dorm still quite hungover.

More to come probably but much farther down the line Benelli and Sam do end up together and benelli goes to every breech to watch her back. Probably teaches her how to shoot too.

Other little notes:

benelli is a multi millionaire from all the clean mafia money and assets he gained. He bought a 2024 mustang rtr which he rarely drives because he lives a block or two away from campus and just walks to work.

He also purchased the apartment building he lives in flat oit [no payments beyond like taxes and stuff]. The apartment has 4 floors with 4-6 apartments per floor. He lives in room 302. He bought it because he didn't want to pay rent. He also decreased everyone's rent significantly to give them reason not to move out.

Benelli paid off everyone's student loans and tuition [after he was stabbed, Sam kept dragging him to friend lunches] because one of the friends was in tears because they wouldn't be able to get loans to keep going to school

Toshin only talks to Sam and Benelli. Rare occasions Sam's parents but otherwise he's typically silent
