I never understand why so many Poirot x Hastings shippers on tumblr (who very likely to be fans of tv show and yet never finish the books) would work so hard on Countess Rossakoff. I mean, even when concerning only the show, why not Ariadne Oliver, if one wants to demonstrate there is never a woman in Poirot’s life who can threaten (if that is the word) the position of Hastings?
She calls Poirot his first name and he hers. She walks into his apartment without knocking and his study without asking. He talks his random thoughts with her when stuck in a case. They go to theatre together and have coffee and chocolate and cookies together. She drives him back to London when a case is finished. They talk about sentimental life perceptions as well as gossips in village. They have inside jokes. They have those eye contact in silence. They have those conversations of those who are deep in thoughts and yet completely relaxed with each other. She’s a detective story writer and he a detective.
I don’t think Poirot’ infatuation with the Countess is anything like his relationship with her. So why?

This cream-colored coat lined with a green windowpane pattern was first seen in the 1978 film 𝑫𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒉 𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑵𝒊𝒍𝒆, where Lois Chiles wore it as Linnet Ridgeway. Interestingly, the jacket was used again in the 2004 production of 𝑫𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒉 𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑵𝒊𝒍𝒆 from the ninth season of 𝑷𝒐𝒊𝒓𝒐𝒕. It was spotted on Emma Griffiths Malin as Jacqueline De Bellefort, who wore it with a matching sweater. Was the sweater made for the original 𝑫𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒉 𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑵𝒊𝒍𝒆 and never utilized? Was it made for the 2004 production and matched as closely as possible? If anyone has any further details on this mystery, comment below or leave us a comment on our website at: Bit.ly/PostEd227
