Ladies and gentlemen, I’m gonna to introduce you to the “Peace bridge”
It was designed by an Spanish architect, named Santiago Calatrava.
The tubular bridge was manufactured in Spain and shipped to Calgary. However, during a weld inspection, it was discovered that some of the welds didn’t comply with the Canadian quality standards. As a result, an independent company was hired to do more thorough inspection of the welds completed in Spain.
The colours of the bridge (white and red), represented the flag of Calgary and Canada. The design is focused on asymmetric shapes anchored by high mast.
Many people criticized the huge amount of money that the city’s capital budget provided for the project, due to the final cost is projected to be over $30,400 per square metre.
Even though, we all love to watch, walk through and take some pictures of the Peace Bridge.
The Bow River would be the same without this coloured bridge.

Hello, my dear fellow! I’ve been working a lot lately but always seeking for a new content to show all of you! Walking down the street on downtown on my way to the gym (couldn’t take my mind off), I took this picture of the back of the Telus Sky Building which is so far one of my favourite buildings in the city of Calgary. There are some interesting facts about this building that you should know: • Telus Sky will feature one of the largest public art fixture in Canada upon completion (in fall 2018) •It’s design, led by the well-travelled Danish architect Bjark Ingels (the youngest well-know worldwide architect of this era) • The entire building has 761,235 square feet, which are going to give room for 60 floors in total; 29 of them are going to become office spaces and the rest of the floors are designed to be used as residential space. The building has a display of LED light strips designed by Douglas Coupland(Canadian artist) who was inspired by the “Northern lights”. Those lights made the building a piece of art, due to the starting sequence of lights is a mimic of the world famous Aurora borealis. ——————> and guess what? The public art will feature an interactive smartphone app that will give users information about what inspired the current pattern at any given sequence!! The building is committed to give to downtown’s Calgary a new context of design, art and innovation which it’s looking forward to engaging with all their users😁 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I promise you all post more photos about this building on the following week! Thanks for reading! Have a wonderful day today! And don’t forget to look up more often😜 Love, AR

Good morning yyc!
“ It is common to refer to the exterior or urban environment as a fabric, and this metaphor is born of the realisation that if any one element in the landscape is altered, everything else is affected as well”
Stop and take a moment to admire all the things you take for granted everyday 🌞

...”The great art (in architecture) is not a fulfillment of a need, but a fulfillment of desire. Desire, not need, leads to great art; but when the artistic achievement is great enough, it becomes a new need. The world didn’t need Beethoven’s fifth symphony, until he wrote it. And after that, no one who ever heard it could conceive of living without it. We began to need Beethoven, not because of an innate need to do so, but because Beethoven's own Desire, manifested in his art, made it so”... Words of Robert Kahn, American Architect

The Centre Street Bridge in Calgary. Built in 1907. It is the central point of the quadrant system of the city. Details: ➡️The pavilions are ornamented with symbols of Canada and the United Kingdom: buffalo heads, maple leaves, shamrocks (Ireland), roses (England), and thistles (Scotland). ➡️ It was designed by John F. Green. ➡️ The Centre Street Bridge was listed as a Municipal Historic Resource for Calgary in 1992. ➡️ The original lions were replaced with replicas after considerable debate. Local legends of adjacent Chinatown hold that the lions would come alive after dark and roam the city streets.
