Some self care stuff
Atm I’m exfoliating and doing a mask and doing my hair and I thought I’d just share some tips and stuff that I do for my face and hair cuz why not.
Face:
What I like to do is exfoliate my face once a week (usually on a Saturday or Sunday but I was at a swim meet and didn’t get to do it then so I’m doing it now). I usually use homemade scrubs that I make and my favorite by far is rose petal sugar scrubs. What I do is :
Take a hotish shower and get my skin all nice and clean. I use an Egyptian sponge loofa thingy to help lift the dead skin and dirt off me and then rinse down with hot water at first, and then cold water.
Dry off completely (especially my face). Feel free to get changed into some comfy clothes too!
Next I use a homemade scrub to exfoliate my skin. Like I said, my favorite is rose petals but today I used a coffee sugar scrub.
Rub a small amount of the scrub on your fsceC making sure to pay attention to dark spots and being careful around areas in which you have acne (cuz it hurts a lot). You only need a little bit to cover your whole face. Like I honestly use like ¼ of a tea spoon to cover my whole face.
Let sit for 2 minutes and then use a warm (or hot) towel to wipe the scrub off.
Once done, dry your face off and then apply a mask.
I use a natural paste like mask my mother makes. Seaweed is the one that works best for me but it smells like baby shit.
Let mask sit until dry (at least half an hour for the masks I use)
When it’s dry, wash away mask and pat dry your face.
Your face will feel as smooth as a baby’s butt but still kinda dry, so to fix that, get some all natural coconut oil and use just a tiny bit to cover your face to moisturize it.
Do this at least once a week and your face will be clear and super soft!
Additional tips:
Use witch hazel as a natural toner to help get rid of make up and dirt on your face.
Use rose water as a deep cleaner for you face and to help get rid of acne scarring.
Natural lotions work really well with after exfoliating since they don’t have any chemicals in them. Usuing store brand lotions will probably make you break out again and you’ll have to start all over again.
Hair:
Okay, so I have really thick and kinky curly hair but it isn’t all that hard to do and anyone with any hair type can do this!
Wash your hair like you normally would to just clean it and get out all the dirt and excess oil.
Partially dry your hair so that it’s damp.
Part your hair into different sections (I usually do four sections cuz I’m lazy)
One section at a time, apply whatever conditioner or hair mask you like or works best for you (I use lots of Cantu deep conditioning cream or natural coconut oil.
Afterwards, finger comb the section. I’ve found that combing your hair with a normal comb damages my hair a lot and that just usuing my fingers is a lot better. It’s better to get out knots without causing too many split ends and get out loose hairs out without taking hairs hat are still healthy and still connected to your scalp.
Do this with the rest of the sections.
Optional: braid or put your hair into a protective style and place under wrap and under light heat for an hour
Wash out the conditioner and brush through your hair once
Apply shea butter or coconut oil to the roots (or all over) your hair and then place in another protective style!
Then your done! Your hair will be moisturized and free of loose hairs and perfectly clean!
Additional tips:
If your hair is as curly as mine, doing smaller braids will be better. It takes for-fucking-ever but it helps your hair stay curly and less frizzy, keeps it from getting tangled, and is good for detangling hair.
Use a showercap under your hair wrap to help lock in heat and moisture.
Don’t put hair in a tight bun!!! It’ll hurt and cause irritation around your scalp and may also lead to breakouts along your hairline.
Don’t go to sleep with your hair wet!

Things to help mentally
- Taking a break from social media. A lot of us are now always glued to our smartphones, Forgetting the real world around us. It’s always refreshing to be away from the phone and doing productive things in the world, Gardening, going on a walk and so much more.
- Meditate. Listen to meditation music and relax your body, Let yourself fall into the music. Not only is it good for the mind but for the heart and body, Easing stress and anxiety along with other things.
- Write in a journal. If you don’t feel like talking to anyone, Write to yourself in a journal. Allow yourself to vent out how you feel or else how you’re feeling will slowly bottle up and it will not make you feel better. It’s okay to feel emotions, so let yourself express them.
- Go on a trip alone or with friends if you want. Some people, when they hear “trip” they may think going to a whole other state, But it doesn’t have to be another state. It can just be to a park. Giving yourself some time to yourself, Watching the sun set is so relaxing.
Let your brain out of it’s box. Let yourself have time for yourself because sometimes you can lose yourself or lose sight of the real world if you’re always on a smartphone. I don’t mean to come off as an overprotective mother but it’s true, You need to make time for yourself. It’s very important to continue knowing who you are, what your purpose is and so forth. I hope you enjoyed and this has helped, Please always take care of yourselves and know you are worthy, important and loved. ❤️

Whiter Shinier Teeth ✅😁
Some of these tips you may know, but hopefully implementing the ones you haven’t heard of will get you on your way to having a beautiful smile (Prettier than it already is ) hahathatwassocheesyhahaha😂 but it’s true! I know its basic hygiene or whatever, but we can always improve, ladies and gents.
+ Alright so first, you must wash your teeth everyday, thoroughly 2x a day
+ It’s optional but preferably with an electric toothbrush. Those shits work so good omg I don’t know what I did before mine tbh (yeah I just went there lmao) I got mine from the brand oral-b
+ Repeat after me : Whitening strips are the Lord’s gift. The only thing with these is that you have to be consistent for a more long term effect but even after the first one I was shook by how much it worked. I was a skeptic at first lol
+ Miswak sticks!! That’s all I have to say on that one. Go check them out cause they’re really cool and have apparently been used in the Islamic world for a long time(?)
🤑Broke hoe tip🤑: You can get the 3d crest whitening strips but I just get the ones from the equate brand which are cheaper and do the same thing
+ Flossing is a must. I used to have really sensitive gums before I started flossing. It gets rid of plaque and food in between the teeth so you can kill two birds with one stone haha. It also can prevent cavities and gum disease. I’m no Bill Nye the Science guy *inserts his theme song👀* but it also kills the bacteria that releases an acid that eats away the outer part of your teeth
+Mouthwash is so underrated, but important to use as it can restore your enamel and has other benefits like good minty breath and such
+ Make a mixture of toothpaste, baking soda, and hydrogen peroxide. I mix a little bit of each into that little medicine cup thingy and it works like a charm. I saw fast results// be sure to be gentle when brushing with it tho!
🚫 do not do this baking soda mixture more than once a week as it can eat away at your enamel very quickly. Do it sparingly. People with sensitive teeth should contact their dentist about how often they should do it, especially if you have pre-existing gum problems
🚫research shows that brushing with a mixture of strawberries and baking soda is actually just as harmful as brushing teeth with a lemon, due to the high acidity levels in both lemons and strawberries. Don’t do it!!
🚫repeated use of activated charcoal can also wear down the enamel. This does not apply if it is used temporarily or infrequently and the risks are much lower if you do
✅For those of you who are insecure about your teeth, I feel your pain. I use to hate my teeth, but I love them now. Teeth are so unique when you really think about it.They add character to your smile and I love that idea. If you can’t stand it any longer tho, which is totally valid also, there are normal braces and clear braces like invisalign! No matter what, don’t let it stop you from smiling bbys!!💜

How to have perfect hygiene.
Tumblr media
— Today I’m going to share some tips I’ve learned that can help you keep a routine of good hygiene. Enjoy!
💝 : Wash your hair 2x a week. It mostly depends on your skin type, but for most people it’s best to wash your hair once or twice a week. It’s not good to wash your hair everyday either.
💝 : Brush your teeth every single day, twice a day for 2 minutes. You don’t need to time yourself but so long as you’re brushing good enough you should be set. Don’t forget to floss once a day. If you wish to use mouthwash, Don’t use it right after brushing. Perhaps do it before though.
💝 : Use deodorant before and after working out and then right before bed.
💝 : Shower once every two-to-three days but it also depends on where you live and how often you exercise. If you’re more prone to oily skin though it may be a good thing to shower at night too.
💝 : As for nails, It depends on how long you want them to be but otherwise it should be about once every week or two. Make sure to not leave any off edges that can easily catch or tear the nail.
💝 : If you wear glasses and you want to know how often to clean them, Just make sure they don’t get to the point as to where you can’t see anymore because they are so smudged. If it does, however, get to that point do not use your shirt. A little dishwashing soap and water should do it but use a clean cotton cloth.
💝 : Lastly, razors. If it begins to feel like it’s pulling on your skin, then it’s likely getting dull and it’s time to replace it. To have it last longer, Be sure to rinse the blades with hot water after using it and then let it air dry afterwards.
That’s all for now loves. Remember to always stay strong and keep fighting! You can do this! ❤️

Study Time.
Tumblr media
For the times where you feel like you need motivation to study, Change things up.
🍵 : Drink some tea while studying or maybe have a fiber bar. Give your brain the energy it needs, especially if it’s a late night of studying.
🍵 : Throw on a cozy sweater or fuzzy socks. You might as well get comfy while getting the knowledge you need!
🍵 : Listen to some music without lyrics that’s calming or maybe before studying, listen to some of your favorite songs to get in the mood to study.
🍵 : If you’ve been studying for quite a while, Get up and move your legs and arms. Stretch your body and what not. Sitting at a desk studying for long periods of time can cause strain on your neck and make your body sore so it’s best to get up once in a while to stretch.
🍵 : Take a 20 - 25 minute nap and once you wake up, Drink some caffeine to wake your brain up.
🍵 : If the subject you’re studying is boring you and you’re finding it difficult to follow along, Find different ways to study it. Such as flash cards, a study game online and other things like that! Make it more interesting and fun in your own way.
🍵 : Take some deep breaths if you’re feeling anxious about it. Trust in yourself that you’ll work hard. Nothing is impossible, Apply that to this. Getting good grades is not impossible, studying hard is not impossible.
🍵 : If you can’t seem to focus, Write down everything going through your mind so you can clear your thoughts out. Perhaps even meditate so you can really clear out your thoughts.
🍵 : After a long night of studying and reading, Treat yourself because why not? You’ve been working hard. Perhaps try throwing on a face mask, do your nails and watch your favorite film or tv show and have a small treat.
Stay strong, take care! 💞

As you wind down tonight, take a moment to reflect on one thing you were proud of yourself for doing today. It can be as small or as silly as you want, as long as you are proud of that accomplishment. Try to do this every night before bed so that you fall asleep with feelings of self love and warmth. Celebrate all of your accomplishments, big or small!

What can you do when you feel completely wiped out or you’re strapped for time, but your home is a mess beyond any acceptable living standards? Here are some things you can do to improve your living space without having to expand all the energy required for a thorough cleaning.
1. Manage the floors
Start with putting items of clothing where they belong. Fold and store away clean clothes, put what is dirty in your laundry basket or bag. If that is too much for you, put everything in a designated spot so most of the floors are not littered with them.
Pick up your trash. If there is anything on the floor that belongs in the recycling bin or the trash, put them there.
Sweep or vacuum where dirty. You don’t have to do the whole thing. Just focus on the dirtiest visible spots: the entrance, around the dining table and in the kitchen tend to be typical ones for me.
2. Manage the kitchen
Put your dishes in soapy water. If you don’t have enough energy to do the dishes, fill your sink with hot water and put in a generous amount of dish soap. That way, the dishes will be easier to clean when you have the energy to do them.
Wipe your counters. Just use a rag or whatever, and don’t focus on making it spotless.
Throw away expired food. Don’t let it litter your refrigerator.
3. Manage the bathroom
Put used towels in the laundry. Fresh towels make you feel cleaner.
Clean the toilet bowl and sink. These are the two most visible dirty things in the bathroom and they don’t take a lot of time to clean.
Rince your shower. You don’t have to clean it. Just rince the walls and the inner shower curtain so it looks a bit fresher.
4. Manage surfaces
Put dishes in the sink and throw away expired food and trash. If you tend to eat at your desk or in your living room, it’s easy to forget to put away those dirty dishes.
Throw away useless paper. It’s easy to let it litter your workspace.
Wipe visibly dirty surfaces. If you eat at your desk or in your living room, it is likely you rarely think of cleaning those places.
5. Practice self-care
You don’t have to do everything on this list. It’s okay to only do the least time/energy-consuming things and leave the rest for later or prioritize an area that has more impact on your well-being than others.
Don’t forget to move around, sleep and eat as much as you need to. These are your basic human needs and neglecting them will impair your performance.
Clean yourself, too. If you don’t have the energy for a shower, baby wipes or a face cloth wet with soapy water will make you feel fresher without requiring a full shower. Dry shampoo is also a life-saver if your hair tends to get oily.
Sometimes we can feel overwhelmed by the amount of things to do. Don’t forget that you can always break down these tasks into smaller ones that you can do during pomodoro breaks or other short breaks while you’re studying! Take it one step at the time and stay within your limits.

how to win at college
this also applies to high school in a lot of ways, esp in organization and involvement
I read this book by cal newport called “how to win at college” in prep for my freshman year & u should definitely read it yourself because there are lots of important points i don’t cover in this post, but if you don’t want to, this is my summary of what I think were the most important points he made.
STUDY HARD, BUT YOUR GRADES DON’T MEAN AS MUCH AS WHAT YOU LEARN OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM. he prioritizes getting vital experiences such as
- joining a club and eventually taking responsibility in it and becoming a leader
- apply for scholarships every year (he said 10 a year)
- volunteer, but not for your resume. do it to learn and become a better person.
- get involved in research, and get involved in your major department (like go to the events and lectures, even if they aren’t mandatory)
- write outside of class regularly because writing is super important (example- submit to your school newspaper)
STAY ORGANIZED AND ON TOP OF YOUR SHIT
- he really really REALLY emphasizes not procrastinating and studying / starting papers well in advance of deadlines. his rules are to
- - >start long term projects immediately after they are assigned and continue to work on them by following a reasonable schedule (he says to finish early, revise, then finish again),
- - > take 3 days to write shorter papers (aka you have abt 2 weeks to work on them and they range from 2-15ish pages) (aka make preparations pre writing, then write a rough draft on the first day, revise and focus your writing on the second day (make sure your arguments are very clear!), and polish your paper on the third day), and
- - >take 2 weeks to study for an exam. study in shorter blocks during the first week, like maybe an hour or so each day. over the weekend, add more hours. the few days before the test, study in 2-3 hour chunks to really cement the already familiar information.
- get a filing cabinet for your papers instead of just piling them on your desk and having to search for them later.
- have a HIGH QUALITY notebook and a folder for each class (or whatever stationery keeps you organized) and keep all your folders/notebooks/binders neat and organized.
- empty your inbox and organize your emails
- schedule your free time- aka have specific times that you choose to relax and spend with friends rather than unintentionally relaxing during work time, or worrying about work during relaxation time.
TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF
- you NEED sleep, you NEED healthy food, and you NEED exercise. you really shouldn’t put anything ahead of these things.
- NEVER pull an all nighter. if you’re studying ahead of time, this should be easy. all nighters aren’t glamorous, they’re unproductive, really stressful, and unhealthy
- keep in touch with old friends, and remember to call your mom
- make sure to spend time with new friends and take care of them. be there for your friends.
- keep your room neat and make your bed!!
like i said, there is a lot of important stuff that I didn’t cover so i recommend reading the book how to win at college by cal newport, and take what you need to from it. good luck!!!

20 important study skills/tips i’ve learned from my professors
1. start studying a week before every quiz/test. seriously.
2. watch youtube videos/ted talks on the topics you are learning about.
3. get lots of sleep! sleep helps you process the day’s events, including what you learned.
4. write out your notes. it’s proven that handwritten notes help you learn better than typed out notes.
5. don’t just read what your professor gives you. find academic journals, books, etc. that correspond with your subjects.
6. read the news! especially in the social sciences/humanities, connecting concepts with current events helps you understand and process more easily.
7. exercise! this doesn’t have to be going on runs or lifting weights, it could even just be going for a 20 minute walk. just get your blood pumping, it’ll help you focus.
8. study at your desk. it may be tempting to study in bed, but your brain connects your bed with sleep, so you’ll get tired more quickly.
9. reviewing notes doesn’t have to be something you sit down and do for an hour. skim through them and test your memory while eating breakfast!
10. expand your study time throughout the day to avoid burnout. for example, rather than studying for 5 hours straight, study for an hour here and there in between your activities.
11. make your notes organized and easy to read, but not distracting. bright colors and flashy notes may seem better, but can sometimes distract from the purpose of the notes.
12. use apps such as quizlet. this way, you can go through definitions while waiting in lines or walking to class.
13. it’s more important to know concepts rather than facts. for example, you should be able to take what you know and apply it to different situations, not just the situation the textbook gives you.
14. just because the professor doesn’t require you to read textbook, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t. it helps explain concepts in a different way than your professor, and a lot of times hearing two different explanations for the same concept helps you understand it.
15. read in advance. read the textbook before your professor begins going over the chapter, so when he/she does, you can easily follow what they are saying.
16. do any extra credit work that comes your way. even if you don’t need the extra boost now, you might later.
17. go to class!! if you always skip class and show up at office hours completely lost on the concepts, they’ll laugh in your face. they’ll take you 100x more seriously if you show up.
18. however, if you are sick, take a day off. it’s more beneficial to you in the long run.
19. learn how to say “no”. if you have an 8 am the next day, don’t stay out until midnight with your friends.
20. don’t stress too hard over quizzes. if you expect them to go horribly, they will. you got this.

as a studyblr with high grades I feel the need to put it out there, I’ve never pulled an all-nighter. Yes I’ve stayed up late in an effort to get assessment done but never past 11:30pm. I can count on one hand the times I’ve sacrificed my sleep and long term health for school. As a studyblr with sleep apnea and anxiety, to me it is not worth pulling all-nighters. Instead use your time effectively. Start assignments straight away and aim to have them finished two days before the due date and just going over and editing until it’s due. The key to never having to sacrifice sleep is good planning and following through. Maybe it’s that you should stay at school for an extra hour or two to get work done, or maybe it’s that you need to wake up super early to work before school. Whatever it is, figure it out and carry through. Please don’t glorify bad sleeping habits, it hurts you more than you could know.

The Night Before Your Exam
Hello, hi there. Recently I made a post about what to do the day of your exam and it’s still getting notes which is amazing. Thank you all. So now, please enjoy these realistic tips for the night before your exam that do not involve perfum, gum, or cramming. Please don’t cram.
Get a good night’s sleep. I know that for many of us this is a major challenge because we deal with insomnia or anxiety disorders that keep us awake. Try taking a warm bath in Epsom salts. Stay in the tub until you break a sweat. Pick your salts wisely because some of them are more energizing (i.e lavender salts are more energizing I have found).
If you are having trouble sleeping because of tension in your neck/back, try to relieve the tension by rolling out your muscles on the floor, or conciously tensing them up for about 10-20 seconds before slowing releasing. The Epsom salt bath really helps with any sort of tension. I have chronic nerve pain from a car accident and it’s one of the few things that help me that is more holistic.
Don’t shy away from melatonin. It works wonders and you won’t feel “hung over” in the morning like you may with Z-Quil. They have melatonin gummies too!
Try lowering your body temperature. Sleep naked. It’s life changing. If you can’t sleep naked (because you live in a dorm) still do your best to keep it cool. Our bodies get tired when their temps are lower.
Additionally, do not cram for any exam. The night before your exam is not the time to be learning any new material. We are way past that. Gently refresh the material that you already know; however, do focus on items you may struggle with. Remember, althetes don’t go crazy hard the day before a game - treat your brain the same way; no heavy lifting.
You may take this time to rewrite your notes. It’s a simple act that can definitely help you to remember.
Try teaching the material to someone else, or if no one else is available - stand in the mirror and give your own personal TedTalk on the subject. Hey, if it works for Sims, right? Remember that if you can teach the material, you know it. Reiterating in your own words is so helpful.
This should go without saying, but eat a good dinner.
Use the “Match,” “Test,” and “Spell” functions on Quizlet. Very helpful.
Have I said do not cram yet?
Lay out your clothes for the morning. The fewer decisions the better.
You’re going to want to wake up with enough time to review your study materials a couple more times, get ready for the day, and leave for the exam early (so that you have time to review when you get there and to ensure you are on time!) So set your alarm in advance.
Make sure that you set out your blue book, calculator, etc. so that you are prepared for the exam tomorrow and you aren’t sprinting across campus to find somewhere that sells blue books.
Triple check that alarm.
Try to limit your use of electronics 30 minutes before you need to fall asleep. I know that isn’t always reasonable though. Just make sure your phone is plugged in so that it is well charged and ON when you need that alarm to go off.
Drink some water.
Don’t drink any coffee or other caffeinated beverage/over induldge in nicotine/or take your *prescription!!!* adderall after 8 PM. Really for the Adderall don’t take it after like 5:30. You will be up all night long, my friend.
Okay last time: do not cram for any exam. That’s like over extertion for your brain and it will take you time to recover. If you continuously pull all nighters to cram you will crash and burn eventually. So just start early on your study plan. You can make time for it, I promise.
Happy studying, realistic students!
