Tipu’s Tiger, an automaton that was made for Tipu Sultan of Mysore in India during the 1700s. The 68-inch long device shows a tiger killing a British redcoat, representing the British East India Company, the enemy of the Sultan. The tiger and his victim can move and make noise – the tiger grunts and the man groans in pain. The tiger also has a built-in pipe organ in its side. British soldiers discovered the automaton when they took the Sultan’s palace in 1799. They took it back to England, where it remains on exhibit in the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Three episodes in, I love how the Animaniacs reboot is like, "What references are hip with the people of 2020? Ah, yes. Technology. Anime. Social justice. The era of McCarthyism that occurred 70 years ago. Queer Eye."
