Release Day Blitz: City of the Fallen (Dark Tides, Book One)
Buy: Amazon
Five years ago, vampires came out of hiding and took over the world. It was meant to be a quick enslavement but it turned into a bloody battle that brought humanity to the brink of extinction.

Isabelle Bryant is one of the “lucky” survivors, now living in hiding, scavenging for food through deserted towns.

 And she’s tired of it.

So she’s devised a plan: find the king of the vampires and drive a stake through his heart.

Except that wickedly sensual king Marcus is nothing like the monster she expected. And while landing on his bed was part of the plan all along, discovering that he might hold the key to humanity’s survival certainly wasn’t. The catch? Saving humanity also means ensuring vampire survival. It means giving up hope for a return to a human-ruled world.

As sparks fly and hate becomes heat, Isabelle must pick a side -- before the darkness devours them all.
I am so excited about the release of City of the Fallen. I love the idea of an apocalyptic after-the-rise take on vampire's coming out of the coffin, with them being the enslavers instead of just seamlessly integrating into society.
I do, however, believe that the King of Vampires has to be one sexy and alluring man, and even with all of his evil I'm-going-kill-all-of-your-species plans, I can understand why Isabelle may have a difficult time keeping her mind on the mission. Although I have no idea how this King is portrayed, since the book is only being released today, I still like to picture him as an intense Ian Somerhalder:
I mean, let's be real...this face is one that may turn make me turn over the vampires-can't-be-so-bad leaf.
Anywho, here is an exclusive excerpt for the tour to get you reeling to purchase today. Check it out!

***Mature Audiences***
His eyes were locked on hers. “Are you afraid of me?”
“No.”
There it was, the real answer. She had been asking herself that exact question since the moment she saw him. Was she afraid of him? Would she be once he got close, once she knew there was nowhere to run? And the truth was that she wasn’t. The king inspired a very different, more powerful emotion in her. Something that completely erased any hint of fear that could have been lurking around. Something that made her forget who he was and who she was and why every hint of desire clutching at her should have felt so wrong.
Even though it felt deliciously right.
The silver in his eyes seemed to spark brighter as one of his hands extended towards her, slightly brushing her cheek before settling on the back of her neck.
“I’m not afraid of you,” she repeated, more to savor the revelation than to reassure him.
And then his mouth reached for hers and her mind went blank.
A soft moan escaped her throat as soon as his lips touched hers. It was a sound of wanting but also of surrender. She wanted this. Her body craved it, but so did something deeper inside of her, something that was waking up with every passing second.
She was expecting a hard invasion, but he didn’t push. Instead, his lips were soft, testing and tasting. The silky caress was so erotic, her whole body turned to liquid, melting into his. More, she needed more. She moaned against his mouth and her lips opened.
And then all of a sudden the gentleness was gone. His tongue darted into her mouth, twining with hers, demanding a response, while his hands ran down her ribs and towards her lower back.
One of his hands reached for her waist, sliding her under him. As he leaned over her, every inch of skin he touched went up in flames, warmth extending inwards and spreading like wildfire. Part of her mind was desperately trying to hold on to reason, reminding her over and over that he wasn’t human.
Except the things he was making her body feel were all very human.
His hand moved under her shirt and her whole body trembled as if hit by an electrical current. His touch was hypnotic. So wrong and yet so right. She arched against him, begging for more.
He growled in response and moved his hand higher, reaching for her breast.
Before his fingers touched her nipple, it had already hardened. When he finally touched her, he let a groan out and pushed harder into her mouth. He sucked on her tongue and she found herself falling deeper into the darkness, into him. Nothing mattered at the moment. Not her mission, not her hate for the monsters. All that mattered was his hands and his tongue dancing with hers. Because nothing she had ever felt, nobody she had ever touched, had felt like this.
Then all of a sudden, he broke the kiss. A moan of complaint left her throat and she reached for his mouth, but he pulled back. She opened her eyes, searching for an explanation—and found his eyes locked on hers, bright silver and deep.
“Marcus,” he groaned, his chest rising up and down rapidly.
She tried to make sense through the fog of desire clogging up her mind. Her head was spinning and it was hard to concentrate on anything but his scent and his heat, dancing over her body.
“What?”
“My name is Marcus. Say it.”
She pushed against him.
“Marcus,” she whispered and the hum of his name on her lips felt like honey.
He growled, the sound rolling over her like thunder. His hands felt feverish against her skin and she could see the transformation happening in him. As the touch became more urgent, he slowly let go of his hold on humanity. His eyes darkened, his fangs came out and the rhythm of his movements became more animal, more dominant. He pressed harder, moved harder, pinching and stroking and kneading until pain started to inch closer.

Blog Tour, Excerpt & Giveaway: ReAwakened (Angel Creek, Book Two)
Rating: Review in Progress Genre: YA Paranormal Romance Author: Ada Adams Website :: Facebook :: Twitter :: Goodreads Series: Angel Creek Publication Date: November 27. 2012 Buy: Kindle :: Paperback
Becoming a vampire guardian was Dawn Fairchild’s ticket out of the Scarlet House. Fresh off a successful mission, life in Angel Creek should have been great. But when her sort-of-maybe-boyfriend, Sebastian, disappears on a quest to help a beautiful vampire from his past, Dawn finds herself amidst a web of danger, lies, and deceit.  Joining forces with Razor, an enigmatic rebel lacking both a verbal and a physical filter, and her band of Misfits—Brooke, Sophie, Hunter, and Seth—Dawn is thrust into a race against the clock to solve the mystery surrounding brutal Born kidnappings and come to terms with the sudden discovery of her own unique powers. With time ticking away and Born vampires’ lives in jeopardy, it quickly becomes evident that someone—or something—desperately wants Dawn and is willing to shed any amount of blood to get her.  Dawn has only one chance to face her demons and overcome all obstacles standing in her way as she embarks on the biggest mission of her life—one that threatens a deadly outcome for all involved.
I am about halfway into ReAwakened and it is just another incredible story from Ada Adams. I'm loving the twists and turns on this one, a little darker than ReVamped (you can find my review HERE) and a new sexy character that I cannot WAIT to read more about. :) I'll be reading until the wee-hours of the morning with this one and hopefully will have my review posted in its entirety tomorrow evening.

Meet Razor
My two-story fall was cushioned by a sturdy, muscular torso. The owner of the muscles—a vampire, I realized—groaned as I landed on top of him, forcing him into the muddy ground. I reached for my dagger, but he was quicker. He slipped out from underneath me, flipping me over in the process so that he was quickly astride me. His firm body pressed tightly against mine as his hands pinned my wrists to either side of my head. As a bolt of lightning struck a nearby tree, I was greeted by a mischievous smirk dancing across perfectly-shaped full lips.
“Quite feisty, aren’t you?” he chuckled, bending forward to examine me. Deep, charcoal eyes overflowed with amusement.
He was actually enjoying this.
“I don’t wanna hurt you,” he whispered in a deep, throaty voice. “I’m gonna release you now. Don’t do anything stupid.”
He lifted his arm, removing his right hand from my left wrist. The moment I felt some freedom, I leaped forward, attempting a left hook at his jaw. He blocked my hand, once again pushing it toward the ground.
“I said I wasn’t going to hurt you!” he growled, pinning me even further into the soft, wet earth.
“But I never said that I wouldn’t hurt you!” I snapped.
He brought his face toward mine. “I’d like to see you try,” he whispered.
Challenge accepted.
Now I just had to find a way out of the vampire’s tight grasp. I raised my head—the only part of me that wasn’t restrained by his body—inching my lips closer to his. He tensed for a moment, his eyes searching mine, as if surprised by my sudden change in behavior. Drops of rainwater slid down his chiseled jaw, pausing briefly on his lips before they plummeted down to mine. Then, a slow, smug smile spread across his face. I felt his body relax and he leaned even closer. His breath caressed my skin as his lips drew near.
It was exactly what I needed. Summoning all my strength, I twisted my hips to the side, shooting them up and out, then launching my legs off the ground. Thrown off-balance, my captor groaned and released one of my arms to brace for the fall, giving me the chance to free my dagger. In one smooth move I was quickly behind him, securing him in a headlock with the blade of my weapon aimed directly at his heart.
“Who are you?” I demanded when I was certain that he couldn’t escape my grip.“I’m a twenty-four-year-old Taurus who enjoys long walks on the beach.” Even though I couldn’t see his face, I could feel his arrogant grin.
“You have ten seconds to explain yourself,” I ordered. “Or I’m really going to hurt you.”
“Oh, come on! Can’t we get back to the kissing? You can’t tease a guy like that.”
“Ten, nine…” I pressed the dagger deeper into him, nicking the leather of his jacket.
“Hey! Watch it!”
“Eight…”
“Oh, alright. You’re no fun,” he sighed. “My name is Razor.”
“What kind of a name is that?”
“It’s a nickname.”
“What kind of a nickname is that?”
“Spike, Blade, Fang—all the good, deadly objects were already taken. It was the best I could do.”

Blog Tour, Excerpt & Giveaway: ReVamped (Angel Creek, Book One)
Rating: 4.5 Stars Genre: YA Paranormal Romance Author: Ada Adams Website :: Facebook :: Twitter :: Goodreads Series: Angel Creek Publication Date: February 20, 2011 Buy: Kindle :: Paperback
A simple mission turned deadly.  Nineteen-year-old vampire Dawn has led a sheltered life within the confines of her father’s presidential headquarters. Upon being sent on a mission to revamp four goofy misfits into guardians of a peaceful little town of Angel Creek, Dawn believes that all her dreams have finally come true. What starts off as a simple task, turns into something unexpected, changing Dawn’s life forever and leading the action-loving, thrill-seeking vampire teen on a path of mystery, danger and intrigue.  When a human girl is kidnapped by a group of rogue vamps, Dawn discovers that there is more going on in Angel Creek than meets the eye. And it all connects to Ethan, the cute newcomer who seems too perfect to be true, Sebastian, the mysterious vampire with a turbulent past, and even Dawn herself. Dawn must not only succeed in revamping the troubled recruits, but must also prevent the vampire race from being overtaken by a malevolent villain who has a strange and obsessive fascination with her. As threat escalates, romance blooms, and ghosts from her past begin to surface, Dawn is sure of only one thing: her life will never be the same.
Being the only child of the U.S. Vampire President, Dawn Fairchild has been given the world. Learning to fight with the best vampires in the Scarlet House and eventually earning her place as a combat trainer, Dawn knows exactly who she is and what she wants. Being confined to practice with guards and never leaving her father's grounds, Dawn is fiending for some real action, outside of the president's watchful eyes.
When the Fab Five decide to follow their dreams of living big in Hollywood and forfeit their position as Guardians of the sleep town for Angel Creek, Dawn jumps on the opportunity to train the next Fab Five, and for the first time, is granted permission to leave headquarters. Dawn quickly realizes that her mission in Angel Creek is anything but normal, but remains completely unaware that her contentment with her simple life is about to be torn in two.
What begins as a fun adventure of a young vampire growing up, finding love and coming to terms with the pain-in-the-butt vamps she's recruited, continues pushing further into a realm of undiscovered wishes, secrets and the healing given only by friendship.
I ADORED this novel. Although a predictable beginning, ReVamped quickly continued down a path not yet trodden, keeping me turning pages until the wee hours of the morning.
Dawn is very likable as an intelligent young vampire who has qualities that I hope to see in every heroine - resilience, persistence, thoughtfulness, honesty. She is a very rare Born vampire, one not created, and something coveted by the vampire race. With her mother passing while giving birth to her, Dawn is close to her father, although their relationship is more business-like than emotional. I loved reading through Dawn's eyes. Her character was consistent and open, very easy to read while being well-written.
The four vampires that Dawn has recruited for the job of Guardian are an unruly, various and seemingly untalented bunch. Brooke, a high school cheerleader and fashionista, hasn't had much to worry about throughout her several decades besides what color to paint her nails and if she'll ever be prom queen. Sophie is a quiet librarian who finds her nose in a book more than out. Seth is a recently-turned vamp (oops Brooke!) who is hiding his "condition" from his overtly religious parents while playing video games to pass the time in their basement. And Hunter represents the rockstar-turned-vamp-turned-druggie of the group, only concerned with his next score. Each one of these characters was enjoyable in their own right, showing redeeming qualities throughout ReVamped.
The first person Dawn finds herself undressing with her eyes is Ethan, a human bartender at the local diner. Ethan shows a fast interest in Dawn too, but there is definitely something happening that Dawn can't quite put her finger on. The fifth vampire she meets off of the compound is one that wasn't on her list, Sebastian, a seemingly rude but absolutely gorgeous specimen of a man, err, vamp, that stirs something in Dawn that seems to eclipse all else...but Dawn refuses to let some eye candy distract her from her mission.
I loved each part of this story. So much humor from the not-so-fab four, awesome fight scenes, romantic encounters, heartbreak, loss, and more. Ada Adams wrote a beautiful story and I cannot WAIT to read ReAwakened, Angel Creek - Book Two tonight! Stop by the blog on the Tuesday for my review and an excerpt from the next novel in the Angel Creek series. In the meantime, here's an excerpt from ReVamped:
Excerpt Prologue
A sharp, searing pain pierced my chest as I watched the guy I liked—the guy I was falling in love with—kiss another girl. With every fiber of my being, I willed myself to look away, my vision blurring in a desperate attempt to escape the agonizing scene before me. My mind failed to obey, and my gaze remained firmly glued to the couple.
Helpless, I surrendered to the nightmare, for a brief moment allowing myself to imagine that his muscular arms were, in fact, embracing me. After all, the girl’s face, with its pale complexion, high cheekbones, straight nose, and cupid-bow lips, was identical to mine. Her glossy brown hair cascaded all the way down her back, each wave perfectly matching my own. Even her slender body curved in precisely the same places. Looking at her was like gazing into the surface of a moving, breathing mirror.
She was me.
Or was I her?
She fluttered open her long, dark lashes, jolting me out of the fantasy by revealing the one perceptible difference between us: her emerald green eyes. While hauntingly beautiful, they looked nothing like my pale violet ones. She stared directly at me, tightening her grip on the one person in the world I wanted to be with. Mocking me for being too late.
“Aurora,” he whispered in her ear.
In that instant, I knew with certainty that he was not thinking about me.

Guest Post, Excerpt & Review: Vampire Elite
Rating: 4 Stars Genre: Paranormal Romance Author: Irina Argo Website :: Facebook :: Twitter Publication Date: June 7, 2013 Buy: Amazon
Summary: A millennia-long war between two immortal races is about to come to an end. Long ago, the Vampire Elite began capturing the immortals called the Amiti, attracted by their unique blood properties. Now most Amiti live in underground cells, forced to serve as vampires’ bloodstock.  The few surviving free Amiti, preparing a final strike, have declared their Queen a traitor. Her execution makes possible the rise of a new Queen, her young daughter Arianna, who will inherit her mother's mystical powers.  Working with the Keepers of the Key, Arianna may be able to eliminate the vampires, once and for all, from the face of the earth. The new Queen is the last hope to save her dying race and she's ready to fight to the last drop of her blood.  But the King of the Vampires has other plans.  What neither expects is the passion that erupts between them. Vampire Elite is an epic story of a bitter conflict between two immortal races, and the effect of that conflict on everyone living in its grip. The characters are driven to love and betrayal, vengeance and sacrifice in a world without easy black-and-white answers.  Based on an ancient Egyptian legend, packed with action and intrigue, Vampire Elite will pull you into the entrancing world of immortals and open new portals into their hidden universe.
I couldn't wait to get my hands on this novel. The story line is unique and captured me from the start. As a lover of all things vampire and Egyptian, Vampire Elite seemed the perfect combination of lore, romance, and creativity, and I wasn't disappointed.
Vampire Elite begins with a glossary of the terms and character types used in the novel. This glossary is comprehensive, but very long, and although useful, not necessary to understanding the story. Being that we couldn't jump run into the story without what I thought was a needed explanation, I was disappointed...until I reached chapter one. With each page turn I was brought into this world of beautiful Amiti, confusing Nightwalkers and then the Vampire Elite. Each character in the story is so easily relatable and quite simply, real.
It was near impossible to put this book down. Every painful decision, romantic encounter, and feeling of despair, hope or safety was portrayed so honestly. I admire that kind of writing and love to read novels where authors who put their characters in unbelievably difficult situations, forcing the reader to constantly change their feelings toward the character in question. Just an emotionally beautiful ride.
Also, the interesting addition of Egyptian lore was refreshing.
Welcome Irina Argo
What makes this book different from other vampire books.
The Amiti
What makes Vampire Elite different from other vampire book is the presence of immortal beings called the Amiti. The goddess Hathor created the Amiti 8000 years ago as a counterbalance to the goddess Sekhmet’s creation of vampires. As Hathor envisioned it, the purpose of the Amiti was to protect humanity by providing a “buffer species” who would mate with vampires and fulfill their need for blood—and in the process, tempering the vampires’ violence by unlocking love in their hearts. Amiti blood has unique properties, including the ability to rapidly regenerate itself, and it is receptive to the will of the Amiti whose body created it. Amiti do not feel depleted when they feed vampires; in fact, they find vampires’ feeding to be an incredibly pleasurable experience, one their bodies were literally designed to enjoy. When a vampire takes a Amiti’s vein, a powerful connection is created called the blood-bond. Within the blood-bond Amiti can command their blood cells in a vampire partner's body to create pleasure or pain, to heal or even bring the vampire back to life, or to kill the vampire. Amiti blood that has been “artificially” drained—via catheter or cutting, for instance—loses these unique qualities, although it retains most of the exquisite taste and scent that makes it desirable to vampires. Legend holds that some Amiti have learned to control their blood even when it is removed from their bodies outside of the blood-bond.
Besides the blood-bond and power over their blood, Hathor granted Amiti the ability to shapeshift, mimicking or impersonating specific humans; a shielding power that allows Amiti to conceal their energies; and a variety of supernatural powers that manifest differently in each Amiti. And yet, in spite of all these powers, the Amiti have so far failed to accomplish their mission. In fact, the majority of the Amiti are now living in underground cells as vampires’ bloodstock, unwilling blood donors who are treated as enslaved livestock.
Among the few embattled Amiti who remain free, the leadership is preparing for a final battle that will eliminate the practice of keeping bloodstock forever—by annihilating the vampires themselves. And the vampires, of course, are doing whatever they can to keep that from happening. Want to know how it all plays out? Welcome to the world of the Vampire Elite.
And here is an excerpt from Vampire Elite, please enjoy!
As the auctioneer spoke, two Sekhmi in eveningwear—a male carrying an elegant dagger and a female a silver tray covered with glass vials—approached the Amitigirl.
“She’s barely eighteen, ladies and gentlemen. That’s a good three years younger than the youngest bloodstock you’ll usually come across. Look at her; she’s stunning, simply stunning, and as you can see, we’ve kept her well conditioned, in excellent health.”
The auctioneer paused as the male Hunter grasped the Amiti’s hand and held it above the tray. The girl showed no resistance, her only display of anxiety the butterfly fluttering of her thick eyelashes. He raised his other hand, and the dagger flashed in the light as with a swift motion he slit the Amiti’s palm. The dark, intoxicating scent of fresh blood filled the room as it poured into the vials.
Simone’s gums began to itch and burn, and she covered her mouth with her hand so no one would see her fangs punching down. It was considered terribly rude to expose one’s fangs in public, even among other vampires. But she needn’t have worried; everyone’s attention was riveted to the stage and the blood flowing from the girl’s wound. The room vibrated with bloodlust and sexual arousal.
The female Sekhmiapproached Simone’s table, offering the Royal Pride the first of the blood samples. Knowing that all eyes were on her, Simone forced herself not to hesitate and took a small sip—and was immediately flooded with euphoria.
“For this magnificent specimen, we open the bidding at ten million U.S. dollars,” announced the auctioneer.

Review, Excerpt & Giveaway: Gravity (Mageri Series, Book Four)
Rating: 5 Stars Genre: Paranormal Romance Author: Dannika Dark Website :: Twitter :: Facebook Series: Mageri Series Publication Date: May 16, 2013 Buy: Amazon
When a choice is made, it will forever alter the course of our destiny. It cannot be undone, for fate is a river changing direction and carving away the bed of our hearts like everlasting fractures.  A difficult past has left Silver broken, but she is learning to trust again through Logan Cross, a Chitah who has convinced her that a dangerous man can change. Their conviction for each other will be put to the ultimate test when an old nemesis reappears and flips her world upside down. Will Logan be able to tame the animal within, or will he succumb to his impulsive nature?  The ongoing investigation into Breed experiments unveils a shocking secret about Silver’s past. Standing at a fork in the road, Silver is forced to make a decision. Each comes with consequence, and there is no turning back.
I am a total Dannika Dark fan-girl. Every installment of the Mageri Series gets better and better and Gravity isn't the exception. Dannika emotes so much through her writing that I almost couldn't catch my breath. There was so much heartbreak and pain and in the midst of it all she still made me laugh. Just a beautiful addition to the Mageri series. Gravity begins in the home of Silver's gorgeous Chitah, Logan Cross. The relationship with these two is palpable, flowing off the page, and boy, did I want to be some of Logan's lemon cake! Mm Mmm! Always sexy and engaging, this relationship is about to be tested and possibly severed beyond repair. Silver broke my heart along with hers throughout the journey and brought me to tears more than once. Beyond the relationship between Silver and Logan, there was SO much character development that I have to touch on it a bit. I am crushing on Christian after this installment. He really developed substantially, more essential in Silver's life than ever, and so very selfless while maintain that sarcasm and toughness we've grown to love. A perfect balance shown for the vamp. I'm certainly hoping for a bit more Christian in book five! Justice was less involved with Silver in Gravity but had more of his own story to follow throughout. A little love development here with a shocking twist that I never saw coming. I really enjoyed watching J struggle with his inner demons and learn how to romance a lady for the first time since his become a mage. There was a little bit with Sunny, Knox, Adam and Simon but more minor roles this time around. The book really focused on Silver and the Chitah community as well as Justice and his relationship. In the midst of being manipulated and blackmailed, Silver still has to uncover information about the Breed experiments and her own parentage, while discovering that there is nothing worse than losing the one you love. Dannika Dark delivers exceptionally in this novel, showing her ability to write fluidly and honestly, baring her soul. The reader is taken through a gauntlet of emotion along with the characters and cannot help but to be completely invested in the outcome. Another stunning novel written by an incredible author. I will definitely be reading anything Dannika choses to write! xoxo!
Excerpt
He twirled a lock of my dark hair between his fingers, bringing the soft tendril to his nose as he drew in a deep breath.
“Do I still smell like lemon cake?” I asked. My fingers wandered along the tight muscles on his arms, sliding underneath the sleeves of his light grey T-shirt.
He suddenly crouched low and ran his nose along the length of my body—close and inviting. God, I loved it when he did that.
Smelled me.
What a strange thing to love about a man. The gesture felt erotic and the tiny hairs on my arms would stand up. With each inhale, his soft purr rumbled and I pulled his face close to mine, planting a soft kiss on his warm cheek. He caged me with arms that had once climbed a thirty-foot tree with blinding speed to rescue me—his agile body leaping from branch to branch as he held me tightly to him.
“Put your mouth on mine, Little Raven. I’m ready for a taste of lemon cake,” he said in a deep and tumbling voice.
“Maybe I’m not so sweet,” I whispered, wetting my lower lip with a sweep of my tongue.
Logan’s eyes followed every movement, and he licked his lips in response. “I want your mouth… on my mouth. Do it, or else I’ll have to find something else to kiss."

Summary: Down in Texas, there's a woman who drinks copious amounts of vitamin water placed precariously close to her laptop. Yeah, I know. I've got a drinking problem. Hi, I'm Danni.  When I'm not writing (which is all the time), I'm listening to obscure music, watching movies, reading, discovering new ways to humiliate myself bowling, and burning up my laptop battery on the internet. I live with a cat who thinks she is a dog, or a goat (she eats plastic, so I'm not sure which).  Some people count sheep when they have insomnia. Since I was little, I used to make up stories in my head in a futile attempt to bore myself to sleep. The problem was, I'd get so wrapped up in my "head stories" that I would continue them through the following nights, changing it up each time to make it more exciting. Eventually, I started writing my ideas down more and more, creating short stories which evolved into poetry.  Lots and lots of poetry. It's almost embarrassing that I have an entire box loaded with spiral notebooks filled with furious, heartfelt, and blushing words. Apparently, I had a lot to say.  Another one of my hobbies is digital art. I designed all my book covers.   I am finally doing what I have always wanted to: giving my characters a pulse through publishing. I write adult urban fantasy romance, but I don't like labels. I let the story tell itself, and color outside the lines. I am not a YA author, but I think it’s pretty great that there are so many books available to teens in Urban Fantasy and Paranormal. These are the future readers!  The work that goes behind self publishing is hard work, I won't lie. On top of my regular day job: I write, edit, format, create cover art, and market.  But it's what I love to do, and someday, I'm going to be doing this full time.

Review, Excerpt & Giveaway: Her Master's Voice (Part One and Two)
Rating: 4 Stars Genre: Erotica (Short Story/series) Author: Vivien Sparx Website :: Twitter :: Facebook Series: Her Master's Voice Publication Date: June 18, 2012 Buy: Amazon
Summary: When young Kate recieves an anonymous text message she doesn't realise how much her world is about to change. Surrendering to her inner most desires Kate soon finds herself submitting to the erotic, sensual and sensitive demands of her mysterious Master.  Drawn into a world of erotic love Kate quickly realises all that matters in her world is Her Master's Voice.
Part One Kate met Master by chance. An accidental text message that turned into the most beautifully fulfilling relationship she's ever had...with a man she's never met. During the day, Kate is an advertising representative for the large ad firm Matthews & Son. Her day to day life is filled with the same as anyone else - stress over her firm's potential closing, money concerns, and date spilling with the girls. But meeting Master allows Kate to move past the stress in life and just be. She isn't able to think of anything else when he takes over because he demands all of her, body and mind. She wouldn't have it any other way. Allowing herself to let go of the preconceived notion that she must "know" her Master before she loves him, Kate still cannot stop herself from dreaming of the day she actually meets him. Master finally says that he is coming to her house, but that she needs to remain blindfolded. After pleasing her competently, Kate is left reeling until their next meeting, with another blindfold, and new way to be completely completed. I really enjoyed this story. It was a very quickly paced read with sexy and demanding scenes that I couldn't stop turning the pages of. I couldn't wait to see where Master brought Kate next. Taking the absurdity of inviting a lover you've never met into your home and putting it aside, I really enjoyed the concept here and it was easy to get to know, and like, the characters. Vivien weaved a sexy web, filled with a young woman trusting a man she's never seen to take her to and then past her hazy line of sexual desire. Master pulls Kate out of her shell, revealing herself to him completely before he finally shows her who he is, and for Kate, it's perfect. Part Two  In part two, Kate has decided to marry Master, who continues to push and explore her relentlessly. The story begins with the two in a lingerie store, trying on pieces for their honeymoon. After Master leaves Kate for a moment, a man appears in shadow and takes her forcefully in the dressing room. Kate seems confused although pleasured by the experience and although simple to follow, the confusion of whether or not she was with the right man was difficult for me to understand. When discussing with Master this encounter and her thoughts, Kate says that she knew it was him the whole time but that just wasn't clear in the writing of this scene. Kate now gets to meet Master's ex-wife, Samantha. Feeling like a mouse in a room of beautiful tigers, Kate retreats into herself and loosing some of her trust in Master, allowing jealousy and confusion to rule her thoughts. Samantha misleads Kate, and now Kate is paying the price - her lack of trust may have ruined the best thing she's ever had. Disregarding the part in the beginning, I loved this second installment. Kate explores with Master as he pushes her to places she never thought she would go and into someone's bed that she never saw herself going into. Having a w/w experience in this book was very interesting, but I understood the necessity of this exploration. I cannot wait to read the next part in Vivien's series. Well-developed, sexy as all get out, and honest in its entirety, this short-story is one to add to your to-read list.
Excerpt
Kate got to her knees on the living room floor and tied the red scarf around her head to blindfold herself.
In the sudden darkness Kate's senses seemed heightened. Every small sound made her flinch, and her mind quickly became overwhelmed with erotic images. Her naked skin felt cool, and yet she felt as though she was on fire. She rested her hands on her thighs. Her palms were sweating.
The silence seemed to slow time. She became aware of every new sound, and each small noise took on greater importance. Her attention was tuned to the sound of the front door, and when she heard the scrape of distant shuffling her body suddenly tensed in anticipation. A shudder thrilled through her body and her breath caught in the back of her throat.
Then she heard the door swinging slowly open.
He was here!
Kate's body tensed. She heard his soft footsteps as he crossed the room. She could feel him nearby, standing somewhere in front of her. She gulped and licked her lips nervously.
"You are perfectly safe," her Master said, and Kate felt herself literally melting at the deep confident assurance in his voice.
She nodded, not trusting herself to speak.
More footsteps. Kate sensed him walking around her, as if he was inspecting his new property. She straightened her back.
"You are beautiful," he said. By the sound of his voice, Kate knew he was standing close behind her. She stayed silent, and now he was here, now it was all really happening... her mind was blank. Her whole focus was on the sound of his voice and the sense of him being near her.
Summary: As a writer of erotic romance, the beauty of the genre is not in creating lavish settings for my stories.  Nor is my fascination for erotic romance drawn from the opportunity to create handsome heroes and beautiful heroines.  My real love for the genre stems from the opportunity to take my readers on a journey and engage as many of their emotions as possible.  I believe writing erotic romance gives authors the most influence over how a reader feels as we engage them in our stories.  Writers of action books, or horror books certainly can create compelling situations, but with erotic romance we writers can immerse our readers in a multitude of emotions unprecedented in any other form of creative fiction.  I can frustrate readers, make them laugh, make them cry, delight them, intrigue them, inform them – erotic fiction is a total emotional experience, and it is gratifying to hear readers respond to stories with passion.  I believe readers want to be engaged and drawn into the pages of a story, and as a writer of erotic romance, we have the greatest opportunity because our stories are always relatable. They may be fictional worlds and fictional characters, but the themes of love and romance and erotica are so universal, and so personal to each of us that we all respond to stories in different ways.  But we all respond.  And that’s the true joy of writing erotic romance. It matters not so much how you respond as you read… it matters only that you do respond. If a writer can engage you and make you feel, then the story’s journey is one well worth taking.

Review and Character Interview: Moonlight (Order of the Black Swan, Book Four)
Rating: 5 Stars Genre: Paranormal Romance Author: Victoria Danann Series: Order of the Black Swan Publication Date: May 25, 2013 Buy: Amazon
The story continues to touch on the lives of former B Team members and their families while new characters and situations are introduced.  THE NEWSLETTER: Ram and Elora move into temporary quarters at Jefferson Unit to protect mother and baby. Storm gives a surprising answer when he’s tapped by Sol to replace him as Jefferson Unit Sovereign. Litha solicits her father to help Black Swan.  THE SURPRISE: B Team learns the shocking truth about the origin of the vampire virus. Monq races to develop a defense system to repel invasion by Stagsnare terrorists and assassins.  THE ADVENTURE: Desperation drives Stalkson Grey to embark on an adventure beyond his wildest dreams in a bid to save the Elk Mountain werewolves from extinction.  THE ROMANCE: In the process of migrating the Elk Mountain werewolves to a new home, Grey learns that true love can find you in the strangest places, even when you’re far, far from home.
As a huge fan of Victoria Danann's work, I was so excited to read Moonlight and review it for release day. I've come to expect perfectly intricate stories woven for the reader to seamlessly dive into while being carried away into hot romance, unique paranormal moments, high-impact action, great characterization, and more. Moonlight epitomizes what I love about Victoria Danann's work and is an AMAZING FANTASTIC INCREDIBLE addition to a series that is one of my all-time favorites. :)
There isn't much that I can't say without spoiling this incredible series for you, but I will do my best to only reveal what I must. All of our most favorite characters are back for another meet up of B-Team crazyness, but this time, there are pregnancies, retirees, and some big changes on the horizon.
Glendennon Catch makes a larger appearance in this novel as well as our favorite Fae/Elf couple (whom I was SO excited to catch up with!), and there is a litter of puppies to boot! Also, seeing another facet to Stalkson Grey's winning alpha personality kept me on my toes page after page.
Victoria writes a novel filled with dynamic relationships, each full of love and romance, but she doesn't skimp on the hilariously awkward moments that make each seem honest and real. Demon-dads and romps with wolves, drunk vampires and star-crossed lovers collide in this fourth addition to The Order Of The Black Swan series. I cannot WAIT to sink my teeth into book number five and savor the next creation from Ms. Danann. This is one of those put-it-to-the-top-of-your-to-read-list books and a must buy for every paranormal fan.
From this book forth, I am *officially* a Victoria Danann fan-girl... squeals and all! Join me, won't you?!
Interview with Glendennon Catch
by Victoria Danann
Victoria: Hey, Glen
 Glen: Ms. Danann.
Victoria: Don't look so uncomfortable. We're just going to talk. Nothing to worry about.
 Glen: Okay.
Victoria: I can see that didn't relax you in the least. Have you, by any chance, been talking to Sir Hawking about this interview?
 Glen: (glances away)Maybe.
Victoria: What did he tell you?
Glen: He told me to watch myself, that you're tricky.
Victoria: (I smile.) I'm not here to trick you, Glen. I'm here because you have new fans who are interested in you personally. They probably want to know such things as boxers or briefs?
Glen: (blushes) You're not asking that are you?
Victoria: No. I'm not asking that. What I'd really like to find out is how you feel about some of the things that happen to you in Moonlight, but I can't think of a way to do that without spoilers.
 Glen : (shrugs)
Victoria:  Well, maybe we can give a couple of things away. How do you feel about leaving Edinburgh?
Glen: Well, I haven't been there that long. I'd say it was a good experience all in all. I got to know a lot of people and I know my way around the different departments at Headquarters.
Victoria: No particular girl you'll be sorry to leave?
Glen: (Smiles.) Fae girls are wonderful. I'll be sorry to leave all of them.
 Victoria: Hmmm.
Glen: (His smile vanished.)What does that mean?
 Victoria:  What do you mean?
Glen: You said, "Hmmm." What does, "Hmmm," mean?
Victoria: (I turn my recorder off and sit back.) Glen, it seems that Rammel has made you paranoid about this interview. I'm not out to get you. If anything, I'm the angel that sits on your shoulder.
 Glen: (Looks unconvinced.)
Victoria: What do I need to do to prove it?
Glen: (Stares.) You could promise that those people who came after Lady Laiken and her baby don't come back again.
Victoria: I can't make that promise, Glen. Wheels are in motion.
Glen: Who's in charge of the wheels?
 Victoria: I don't know.
Glen: Sir Hawking said it was you.
Victoria: Well, that would be a very simplistic way of looking at things.
Glen: You think I'm a kid, but I know a dodge when I see one.
Victoria: You're right. I do think you're a kid, but I also know you're a kid who's exceptional, even brilliant.
Glen: But you still think I'm dumb enough or vain enough to be distracted with compliments.
 Victoria: Works with Ram.
 Glen: (Narrows his eyes.)
Victoria:  Okay. Look. We've obviously gotten off on the wrong foot and I'm tired of limping along here. You're clearly very protective of Sir Hawking and Lady Laiken, so we'll avoid further references to either of them.
Let's try another question. You're going to be expected to make a declaration of career intent in about three weeks when you turn twenty. Right?
 Glen: Yes.
Victoria: Have you decided what you want to do?
 Glen: Yes.
 Victoria: Excellent! Please share.
 Glen: No.
 Victoria: No?
Glen: No. If you want to know more, read the book like everybody else.
 Victoria:  Great Paddy.

CHAPTER 1
"What do you know about my sister and that prancin' prick of a fairy prince?"
Elora blinked, but in the space of that flutter he learned all he needed to know. He had found out the first night Storm brought her to poker, back at Jefferson Unit, that her very expressive face telegraphed even the tiniest nuance or feeling or thought. By now he knew her so well that she was as transparent as air. She was caught off guard because she hadn't expected that question while Ram was cooking a leisurely Sunday breakfast.
"Say that three times fast?"
"No' goin' to work this time. Stay on topic."
"You just don't like him because he can stand toe to toe with you and not be cowed by the H.O.H. elfster."
"ELFSTER!? What in Paddy's Name, Elora? And what is H.O.H.?"
"Hall of Heroes."
Ram turned away from frying bacon and gave her a look. It probably didn't have the effect he intended. He was wearing jeans, a long sleeve black tee that stretched across his chest enticingly, and a black Jack Daniels apron tied around his waist. She thought perhaps nothing was sexier than watching Ram's muscles ripple while cooking her breakfast.
"Do no' try to deflect. 'Tis I. And Paddy knows I can tell when you're hidin' somethin'."
Ram looked determined.
"Speaking of hiding. You're going to have to do something about all these guys overrunning our property. Our home - the one that was intended to be our very own, very private property. Please, Ram. Make them go away."
His expression softened a little as he decided to allow himself to be temporarily derailed.
"Sol, Simon, and every one of your friends agree that we can no' leave you and Helm vulnerable after the threat those alien buggers left hangin' in the air. That goes especially for your friend, Sir Storm."
"My friend, Sir Storm?"
"Aye. Your friend. The bloody wanker suggested that I'm no' responsible enough to be entrusted with lookin' out for you. Said, 'You're no' takin' good care of my namesake's mother.
I'll be forced to give the job to someone else if you do no' shape up and begin takin' it seriously'."
Elora laughed. "He said that?"
"Aye. As if 'twas all my doin' that you ended up givin' birth alone in a freezin' wolf cave. With. No. Phone."
"Well..."
Ram narrowed his eyes at her. "Think very carefully about what you are about to say before you say it."
Elora smiled brightly. "I was going to say that no one in his right mind could fault you."
Ram nodded and resumed turning the bacon. "Exactly. I should have reminded him what happened when he was in charge of the Baka interview at Unit Drac. He pouted for hours after learnin' first hand that the Lady Laiken does as she fuck-well pleases."
Elora concurred by nodding vigorously. "It's a burden, but you bear it well, my love."
"All kiddin' aside. I do. I really do." He began setting strips of cooked bacon out to drain the grease.
"Well, Sir Storm is going to be plenty busy with his own burdens."
"What's your meanin?"
"They're expecting."
"Expectin' a baby?"
"No. They're expecting Publishers Clearing House to pay for their villa renovation."
Ram gave her a look. "You know, I'm thinkin' there's only enough of this lovely bacon for one and, since I cooked, I really should be keepin' it for myself."
"Yes! They're expecting a baby. Litha thinks it's a girl."
"A girl!" Ram practically whooped. "Paddy's Great Balls Afire. I can no' wait to see Storm try to be da to a girl." He laughed enjoying that idea and then grew serious. "As for the buggers who violated my grandda's forest, I'll no' be givin' 'em a second chance at my family."
"Rammel. I hear you and I understand you."
"I do no' suppose the next sentence will be 'and I obey you'."
Elora smirked while she snagged a piece of bacon. "Have I ever mentioned you make great bacon?" She nuzzled his ear on the way back to her stool. "Almost as good as chocolate."
Ram pointed a spatula at her. "I swear to Paddy you have that thin'... that ADDD."
"ADHD?"
"Aye."
Elora started laughing. "Pot."
When his brows drew together she smiled because Helm looked at her with that same expression several times a day. They made him accidentally in a snow covered cottage, but he was made with love and now he was a little bit her and a little bit him. A miracle indeed.
"You can no' concentrate 'cause you've been smokin' dope?"
"No! 'Pot' as in 'you're the pot calling the kettle black'."
Ram stared at her for a few beats, finally shook his head and said, "No idea."
"You don't have an expression here about the pot calling the kettle black?"
"We do no' that I know of, but I think I begin to follow your point. You're tryin' to say that I should no' be accusin' you of short attention because mine is even shorter?"
Of their own accord, his eyes drifted down to the cleavage showing between the Henley buttons she'd left undone.
She chuckled. "See?"
"See what?"
She did a little shimmy and he grinned sheepishly. "Guilty." He put an orange juice in front of her. "And be careful of the sexy dancin'. You'll be gettin' Helm's milk all over your clothes again."
Elora rolled her eyes. "He gets enough. Have you seen how chubby his little face is getting?"
"Well, blood will tell."
Elora narrowed her eyes to slits. "Rammel. Paddy help you if you're saying what I think you're saying."
"All I'm sayin' is that chubby cheeks do no' run on my side of the family." When she took a mock threatening step toward him, he laughed. "Just teasin' darlin' girl. Just teasin'. You know I would no' change a hair on your head. Or his."
"Okay. All I'm sayin' is that insanity doesn't run on my side of the family."  A look of horror slowly covered her face as she realized what she'd just said. She hadn't yet personally confronted what the assassin in the woods had said about the Laiwynn clan, but if it was true, it meant that cruelty and despotic behavior might run in her family.
Ram put his utensils down, wiped his hand on his apron, and offered himself for a hug.
She stepped into the comfort of his arms.
"What I was trying to tell you earlier is that I've never made any secret of the fact that I won't give up my freedom to live a restricted life, no matter how luxurious or comfortable. Not for anything."
"No' even for Helm? And me?"
"That's not fighting fair and you know it."
"When it comes to your safety - and our son's - you think I care about fightin' fair? 'Tis the very last of my concerns."
"Let me put it this way. You need to come up with a more agreeable Plan B and you need to do it while I'm still in a listening mood."
"Any ideas?"
She looked down at her pretty Holland china plate, part of the set they got as a wedding present from Kay and Katrina. She had a picture of how good life was going to be there in their new home. Had the Ralengclan assassins spoiled her vision of the future to the point of ruin?
Was it time to confront that possibility?
"No."  When she looked back up, Ram thought he might have seen her look just a little worn. Like her aura hadn't been buffed in a while.  Sometimes he caught her looking off into space and he suspected that she was thinking about what she'd been told by the Ralengclan assassin, wondering if the massacre of her family was really a coup d'etat.  "Armed people guarding the house. Hardly what I pictured."
"I know." Ram sat down next to her and took her hand in his. "We'll figure it out. Monq's workin' on it." He pulled up like he had an idea. The change was so subtle that no one besides Elora would have even noticed it.
"What?"
"He's workin' on detectin' interdimensional activity - identifyin' the source and location.
He says 'tis a logical first step toward the defense system we're goin' to be needin'."
"Yeah. I heard."
"Well..." She knew she was in trouble when he turned on that look that he had given her the first night they had met, the puppy dog plea that was so irresistible she could be manipulated out of her socks with full knowledge and complicity. She hated that. It was... manipulation by consent.
"Stop that right now!"
"'Twas just thinkin' that, for the time bein', just while we're sortin' this out, maybe we should move back into Jefferson Unit. You and Helm would be safe there. I know 'tis no' ideal, but there is the courtpark, food, and babysittin' on demand. 'Tis no' this." He looked around the room and gave a little sigh. He had put a lot of himself into renovating the property and somewhere along the way had come to understand why she loved it and pictured their little family living happily ever after there. "But we were happy at Jefferson too. We could even help
Monq. Maybe speedin' thin's along a bit?"
"I'm expecting puppies."
"I truly hope no one is recordin' this conversation." Ram's mouth softened at the corners making him look so beautifully kissable that she had to lean in and remind herself if those kisses were as good as she remembered. He didn't seem to mind complying with her wish. When she pulled back, he said, "We could get Glen to keep an eye on that. The wolf pups I mean."
"This is not just some ruse that's going to get us sucked back into active duty?"
Ram cocked his head like he was having trouble with that question.  "Why would I go to so much trouble to keep you safe only so I could risk gettin' you killed?"
Elora stared at Ram for a few seconds. "I'm not the only knight in the room and we both know how persuasive Sol can be when he wants something. Before I even consider this proposal, I need some reassurance that none of us, not you, not me, not the baby - none of us - are going to end up on any field assignment. Not in any capacity."
Ram nodded. "Deal."
"Okay."
"Okay you approve of my answer or okay we're packin' for Fort Dixon?"
"Fort Dixon, but that's all of us. Blackie too. And we need an apartment big enough for the four of us."
"Thank Paddy. I'm goin' to get a good night's sleep for a change." She hadn't realized just how much stress the fear of assassination had caused Ram until she saw his facial muscles relax. Yeah. It was a good plan. A good choice, everything considered.
"And, let's outline what would have to happen to make it possible for us to come back here and proceed to live life the way it should be lived. By ourselves. Speaking of which, I'm also not giving up the pleasure of a weekend at the cottage - just us - forever."
"Certainly. I'm no' unreasonable."
She smiled at him lovingly and indulgently. "Of course not. You're my hero." My review for this novel will be out tomorrow so make sure you stop by and check it out! Can't wait!

ARC Review: Need (Want, Book Two)
Rating: 4.5 Stars Genre: Contemporary Romance Series: Want, Book Two Author: Stephanie Lawton Website :: Facebook :: Twitter Publication Date: May 17, 2013 Buy: Amazon
Isaac Laroche is cursed. All he wants to do is hide out and feel sorry for himself. Never mind that he got caught sleeping with his seventeen-year-old piano student, or that he abandoned her when the truth was exposed.  Isaac’s feisty high school sweetheart has different plans. Heather Swann has returned to their hometown of Mobile, Alabama, to regroup after breaking up with her troll of a fiancé. She’s restless and looking for a diversion, but she bites off more than she can chew when she sets her sights on rehabilitating Isaac with her unorthodox sexual, mental, and physical plans.  The two quickly reconnect, but their happiness is threatened by family secrets, old vendettas and the death of a beloved father-figure.  Can Heather handle Isaac’s baggage, or will her own come back to haunt them both?
*Need is the second novel in the Want series. I would absolutely recommending reading Want before continuing with Need because so much of Isaac's story is based around the events in Want. If you haven't yet read Want, there will be some spoilers in my review.* And if you haven't read Want yet, DO IT! Here, I'll make it easy: CLICK ME!
Need begins directly after Isaac and Julie's "break-up," or, you know, where he left her on her own defending their unconventional relationship in front of the entirety of the town's elite. *scoff* We find Isaac working through his broken heart by quitting piano and working as a landscaper - sweating out the pain and exhausting himself into sleep each night.
The only constant in Isaac's life now is his Uncle Robert (who I love and adore). Isaac's family is disgusted by his relationship with his 17-year-old piano student and refuses to talk to him, but Uncle Robert understands the uniqueness of Julie and Isaac's situation and doesn't give up on trying the bring the family back together. When watching the town exiting church from his car on Easter Sunday, Isaac runs into his old girlfriend, Heather. After reading the first novel, I wasn't sure that I would fall for Heather the way that I did. I mean, I loved Julie so very much and a little devilish piece of me wanted them to work it out while the angel on my shoulder says NO! Dave is the one! Nice guys, Jenna, nice guys...but surprisingly, Heather was the perfect companion for Isaac, exactly what he needed. Haha, get it?!
Heather quickly rips through Isaac's life like a wild force, repairing that with is innately damaged in him and hoping to steal his heart on the way. Going through her own mess of family and relationship problems, Heather was easily relatable and very likable. I loved her matter-of-fact attitude and her honesty, even in moments best suited for delicacy Heather was a straightforward and refreshing heroine.
Heather's mom, Marcie Swann, makes another appearance in this novel. Still easy to hate and manipulative, we learn a lot more about her background and the Swann's history in general. I loved the road Stephanie took with this family history. It is unguessable (spellcheck says this is a word...I wasn't quite sure).
Overall, I loved Isaac's journey of self-discovery and hearing his voice in Need. The self-absorbed man who had never healed from his childhood abuse begins understanding himself through Heather's tough-love, intense control and surprising tenderness. There were so many heart wrenching moments through Need, literally, my heart wrenched. Such a touching and beautiful story while remaining uplifting.
There are some super hot scene's in this novel, so YA readers be aware. Need was wonderfully written, with relatable characterization and a uniquely captivating love story. Ms. Lawton combines the perfect amount of humor and dispair, love and forgiveness - a must buy for sure!
About the Author
After collecting a couple English degrees in the Midwest, Stephanie Lawton suddenly awoke in the deepest reaches of the Deep South. Culture shock inspired her to write about Mobile, Alabama, her adopted city, and all the ways Southern culture, history and attitudes seduce the unsuspecting.  A lover of all things gothic, she can often be spotted photographing old cemeteries, historic buildings and, ironically, the beautiful beaches of the Gulf Coast. She also has a tendency to psychoanalyze people, which comes in handy when creating character profiles.

Review: Dark of a Dark Knight
Rating: 4 Stars Genre: Paranormal Romance Author: Zoe Forward Website :: Facebook :: Twitter Publication Date: March 1, 2013 Buy: Amazon
Summary:: In the shadows of our world, a secret band of warriors fights to protect us. They are the last line of defense against an evil no human can stop.  An ancient nemesis has resurfaced. Duty demands that Ashor Vlahos, Scimitar Magi commander, recruit a magical healer to fortify the remaining eight magi. The gods' choice is the woman who helped him escape torture a decade ago. Ashor couldn't have imagined a better punishment for his vow-breaker homicidal incidents than for the gods to bind him irrevocably to the only woman in the universe he cannot have. The soul-searing desire she ignites in him is strictly forbidden. Kira Hardy, M.D. is a brilliant, hardworking internal med resident with big secrets. But when Ashor asks for aid after a brutal daemon attack, she is sucked into his dangerous, secret world. Enslavement to the magi, no matter how hot they are, may be an unattractive life plan, but being targeted for death by their enemies is less tolerable.  She must trust the sexy, tormented Ashor to keep her safe while he must deny his ultimate desire and keep Kira at arm's length lest he bring destruction down on them both. As a centuries-old evil catches up to them, they face a crucial decision--follow the gods' rules or follow their hearts.
Ashor Vlahos is the perfect alpha male, leader of an ancient Egyptian magi group, created and resurrected by the gods to protect human kind from Hashishins and demons. After years of fighting evil and not yet finding his senariai, or soul mate, Ashor is fighting back the darkness threatening to take over his soul.
Kira Hardy has been fighting her supernatural need to heal by becoming a doctor in the human world, using her gifts sparingly to help diagnose and save those in need. After her parents were murdered, Kira's been continuously on the look out for Terek, the illusive man who she swears is responsible.
I loved Kira and Ashor. Kira is hilarious and headstrong, even when fighting against her undeniable attraction to Ashor. While Ashor is the sexy and anguished warrior who can't help but fall in love with the sassy Kira. My favorite character in this book is undoubtedly Kira. I loved her honesty and determination. She doesn't play games and goes right for what she wants.
Moreover, I was compelled by the elements woven together by Zoe Forward. The witchcraft, demonology, history of the gods, and reincarnation helped to create rich and unique scenes from start to finish. I did, however, have some confusion with the terminology and didn't actually find out that there was a glossary until I finished the novel. That being said, I would've been a lot less confused had I read the meanings behind these terms in the beginning.
Zoe writes a story rich with romance and unique paranormal elements. The point-of-view of the story switches from Kira's to Ashor's and we even get a brief view into the mind of the antagonist, which is atypical and appreciated. And again, the relationship development between Kira and Ashor is well-paced, their intimacy is hot, and I cannot wait to read more about them and the fellow Scimitar Magi in the next installment in this series, Forgotten In Darkness, release date, TBD.

Review: Duality (Melancholia, Volume 1)
Rating: 5 Stars Genre: New Adult Paranormal Romance Series: Melancholia Author: Elle Casey Website :: Blog :: Facebook :: Twitter :: Goodreads :: Amazon Publication Date: April 30, 2013 Buy: Amazon
Summary: Malcolm's had a problem for as long as he can remember. No matter where he goes or what he does, he leaves misery in his wake. Sadness and negativity are his constant companions, influencing others around him until they cannot bear to live.  But then Rae shows up in his life, and everything changes. Darkness cleaves to light. Anger yields to joy. The question is whether she'll be his salvation or his destruction.  DUALITY is a 3-book Young Adult/New Adult Paranormal Romance. Volume 1 will be published April 30, Volume II May 31, and Volume III June 30, 2013.
Holy. Flipping. Moly. Elle Casey has yet again astounded me with her amazing writing, characterization, and unique view on the paranormal. I completed the 360 pages of Duality in about 5 hours - never putting it down, completely entranced. Duality is told from both Malcolm and Rae's points-of-view, taking turns chapter by chapter which, typically, I'm not a fan of, but Elle completed it seamlessly, allowing readers to follow easily and me unable to imagine Duality told any other way. Malcolm and Rae are both equally lovable, battling their opposite curses while trying to simply make it through their senior year of high school. I easily felt sympathy for these two unique and lonely souls, drawn to each other but used to hiding between classes in bathrooms to avoid run-ins with Rainbows and Miserables. Yet together, things seem to be changing... Malcolm doesn't know what it is about Rae that draws him in, but he does know that when she's around, he just feels...better. And strangely protective. Rae is more than excited to meet someone who isn't completely drawn to her - if only he didn't react with such intense distain...and wasn't so understatedly badboy sexy. Finding her first friend in the hilariously outspoken (and Neutral) Jasmine, Rae is finally able to do things she's never done before, like text someone who isn't her overprotective and obsessed parents, while Malcolm sees a lightness in acquaintance Kootch that allows him to finally let his guard down, if only slightly. Circumstances, and a mutual friendship with Kootch and Jasmine, drive these two together time and time again, but will they be able to discover what they can mean to each other before it's too late? Battling highly strung emotions, kidnappers, and horrific pasts, while maintaining a hilariously uplifting and laugh-out-loud quality that only Elle Casey can combine, Duality is a series that I cannot WAIT to finish. Yet again, Elle has me feigning for more and counting down the month of May until the next release in the Melancholia series. 5+ stars, well deserved. Cover Reveal: Just One Cup
And here we have another cover reveal! This is my first introduction to Ms. Cassandra Giovanni and I'm looking forward to reading some of her previous releases as well as this novel, Just One Cup. Here is the summary:
Emma Walker was a writer who'd lost herself to someone else's anger--who had given up on ever feeling like herself again.  Evan Levesque was a rock-god--the one all the woman wanted, but he'd never gotten used to the loneliness between the stage and real life.  With just one cup of coffee they'll begin a journey of self-discovery at each others sides, but can Emma handle Evan's fame while dealing with her own demons? Emma's checkered personal past, a bad relationship that haunts the edges of her memories, threatens to make everything implode on them when Evan takes matters into his own hands.  Sticks and stones may break my bones, but your words...they'll destroy my soul--Can Emma handle being put back together and facing who she's become because of it?
Ohhh, do I love me some rock-god meets broken chick. Mmhmm! I haven't really been interested in music-based books because I am a musician and it's hard to not be overly judgmental of the characters, but this book seems to have more depth than the run-of-the-mill rockstar-likes-average-girl-who-doesn't-think-she's-good-enough theme.
This cover seems pretty self-explanatory. My favorite surprise? The treble clef and staff behind CG's name. Too cute! And man, I love me a guy with some tattoos! I think that the model for this doesn't quite look "rockgod-y" (yes, I just used that as an adjective) however, I'm hopeful that after reading the novel, he'll will remain in my mind this emo-rocker type of guy. So, what do you lovelies think?
