I do think Ellen and Orlok are kindred spirits in the sense that Ellen has a similar appetite that demands she consume constantly, which for me just translates to her sexual appetite in combination to her being tied to the supernatural. She cannot crave naturally like a human because she kinda isn't human

Ellen Hutter and Will Graham are very similar actually and in this essay I will-
#ellen hutter#will graham#nosferatu 2024#hannibal#the way they both embody the idea of a sacrificial lamb#the way they're both imperfect victims and monsterous and other in their own right#the way their monsters love them#and try to coax them into accept their desires in dubious ways

Everyday yall prove that media literacy is dead so lets break it down.
Ekko and Jinx are enemies by the time of their fight. There's no trust and no expectation to not be hurt between them. They've been at each other's throats for years by this point and know the drill.
Cait and Vi has just gotten together. Literally shared a kiss and there's an element of trust and love. Vi didn't expect Cait to turn on her. That's the difference. They were in a relationship. Trying to diminish that to just an 'elbow punch' is gross because it pretty much hurt Vi emotionally and mentally.
Cait is not a great partner and this season really just highlighted their issues without really solving their issues.
Ekko straight beat the fuck out of jinx and people are frothing on their fanfiction ass ep but caitlyn elbows vi once and it's game over never redeemable ever.
Smoking crack
No literally its fucking unreal. Watching a dude beat a woman nearly to death and thinking thats cute while also watching someone essentially get elbowed and claiming its abuse is a different type of deranged
#caitvi#caitvi critical#arcane critical#cait is essentially vi's conservative boyfriend and im only half joking

So over on patreon Trevor asked for my take on the Addams Family and I grew up LOVING the Addams family movies so here we are. Instead of doing a straight up style interpretation, I decided to do a full on design challenge, using the characters as bases to make a black southern gothic Addams au. I actually drew the kids first, using the character bases of Wednesday and Pugsley to create some delightful kiddos I’m calling Sunday and Blanche. I of course then redesigned Gomez and Morticia into Carlisle and Mortesha.
The Addams have a very specific high aristocratic goth aesthetic (they’ve got a butler and nobody really works among other things) so in this re-imagining I wanted to go with vibes that run a little more middle class/upper middle class. I thought it would be interesting to think about what would be considered weird and off-putting in an entirely different culture, and how being a big ol’ goth is way less controversial than it used to be.
I tried to keep this short (HAHAHAHAHAHA) so I didn’t spin off into an essay about villain coded families, black people in the horror genre, and normalcy as it pertains to social survival, but just…bits of that are in these designs and lore. Keep that in mind.
Also I made the kids twins because they’ve flip flopped in age so much in different media and also twins run in my family (i’m the daughter of one). And let’s face it, I’m pulling a lot of their southern gothic traits from living as a southern goth so *shrug*.
10 thousand pounds of lore incoming loooooooooool.

patriiiarch:
The Addams Family: A cursed family.
So I found this Reddit theory a while ago and it’s really good at explaining why the Addams’ are so chill when dealing with dangerous situations that should kill them. To sum it up (although I’ll put a link to the full theory at the end) the family has a curse where it’s extremely difficult (but not impossible) for an Addams member to kill one of their own. It is a curse that’s been passed on over the centuries, protecting the Addams bloodline and those who marry into the family and become an Addams themselves.
This comes down to one main factor: Love. More specifically, mutual love. This can be between lovers or between relatives. For example, the curse wouldn’t work on Debbie because, even though Fester loves her, she doesn’t return it and therefore the curse hasn’t created a bond between them. She died by Pubert’s hand because they also didn’t share a mutual love.
However, Gomez and Morticia love each other and are able to kill each other without fear. Each Addams member would have to create that mutual love bond that would enable them to hurt each other without permanent death. This is the reason Gomez and Morticia protect Pubert when his siblings try to kill him; they hadn’t formed that bond with him yet.
This is why the children always fail to kill each other even after the countless attempts. It also explains why Gomez never kills Fester or Lurch when he throws his knives at them. Lurch, being that he isn’t entirely human and has been with the family throughout the years, was present when the curse was cast and is therefore protected as well. Nobody is quite sure which member placed the curse on them or if it was a collaborative effort, but many ancestors like to take credit for it to the point where the truth has been lost over the years.
The curse is also the reason nobody dies when given poison from Grandmama. However, it has become natural in the family to build up an immune system to poisons from an early age even before the curse was placed upon them. In one episode of the ‘New Addams Family’, Fester offers Gomez a cyanide pill to cheer him up. His response is to sigh and says that “it would only give me indigestion.” It was also normal for older children to be killed when a new baby arrived, but the curse now stops that from happening.
Mortica: “Do you think that when a new baby arrives one of the other children has to die?” Children: “Yes.” Grandmama: “Well, that’s just not true. Not anymore.” - Taken from ‘Addams Family Values’.
During Tully’s swordfight with Gomez in the first movie, Tully scratches Gomez’s hand and draws blood. It’s the first and only time blood is shown in any Addams movies or in any of the TV show episodes. Gomez, who is usually playful, has a shift in attitude and becomes more serious when he realizes.
There’s also the scene where Morticia is captured by Tully and Abigail. Thing immediately rushes to inform Gomez, but is so shaken that he cant get his taps out. Gomez, upon realizing what has happened, rushes to her rescue. The two of them might be so shaken by this due to her being threatened by people who are not within the family and can therefore do her serious harm.
Also, whenever the family talks about a deceased relative they always mention the way they were killed and it’s almost always by outsiders. For example, Gomez and Fester’s parents were killed by an angry mob. The only time it’s mentioned that an Addams was killed by their own was when Fester told the children about one of their relatives during a game of ‘Wake the Dead’:
“Children! Look! Great-Aunt Lavinia! She was beheaded by her own children!”
He says it as if it’s a great accomplishment and the children respond gleefully as they rush over to look into the grave. As I said earlier, it isn’t impossible for an Addams to kill one of their own, but extremely rare and Great-Aunt Lavinia is one of the few cases of it happening. This is because Lavinia’s children no longer loved her for whatever reason and, thus, their bond created by love was severed.
Of course, there’s a few instances where it’s a little harder to explain. Like the scene in the second movie where Gomez is apparently dying. However, once Fester returns and shouts that he’s an Addams, Gomez is as good as new. So, I think it was simply Gomez feeling depressed and betrayed by his brother which makes him sing as if the world is ending. Grandmama finds the behavior very strange and so wrongly thinks that he must be dying and alerts Morticia. However, it’s basically just a false alarm and, on some level, they must have known that he really wasn’t at death’s door.
So, to summarize, it is impossible for Addams members to kill each if there is a mutual love between each member. This is the reason Gomez and Morticia are happy to watch their children torture each other without being worried. It’s also the reason why Gomez and Fester are still alive after how they treated each other as children: e.g ”I choked him until he lost consciousness and had to be put on a respirator!”
The original theory can be found HERE. I just added a few parts as I thought of them. There’s probably some plot holes, but this just makes rping a little easier when a bit more logic is applied to it.
This is a reblog because I had to edit to include that it has to be mutual love between each individual members.

Takeaways from the ep:
- Claudia realizing that she’s not meant to be a daughter but a proxy for Louis’ sister hit so hard. Louis, who has lost everyone and everything, who finally managed to feel comfortable as a vampire by throwing all of that love, that life that he has into that one girl - whether fairly or not, is another matter entirely, but her actually *seeing* Louis, the way Lestat, for all his proclamations of love, never truly acknowledges, breaks my heart.
- Louis losing Claudia was always going to send him over the edge: he was already there, she just held him in place for a while. Does Louis love Lestat? I’m sure he does. Does it matter? Beyond the catholic guilt, Lestat is inhospitable to Louis’ nature. Louis is passive and suicidal and depressed and Lestat is absolutely the worst man to support him through any of that.
- hints of Lestat’s past, and the vampires out there, but Lestat never talks about it, so again, does it matter? Your trauma is just all your sharp edges cutting everyone else in your proximity if you don’t acknowledge it and try to work through it. Same goes for Louis, to be honest. They can’t communicate, and so are stuck in this toxic stew of not being able to be what the other person needs them to be.
- Kudos to Sam Reid for making Lestat cheating on Louis an act you feel sorry for Lestat for. All that desperate, delicate yearning for connection, and finding it elsewhere when he can’t get it from Louis. Heartbreaking. (Also he keeps threatening to kill Antoinette whenever Louis finds out Lestat is still fucking her, but she’s still around. I love Antoinette.) also kudos to Jacob Anderson for the absolute betrayal and hurt on Louis’ face without a word when Claudia drops the A word.
- why did the house turn into a pigsty? Louis didn’t do the cleaning? What are you, Lestat, do you have a disability that prevents you from doing the housework?
- IWTV fandom, please stop framing Lestat cloud dropping Louis as a result of emotional abuse from Louis. Please, just don’t. You can frame it as two dudes in a toxic, fucked up relationship if you want, and it is, because they’re both not human, and a violent act between them can be just that. But stop framing it as “well he was physically violent because Louis was emotionally abusive”. I cannot abide. Let them be fucked up, you don’t have to justify it. You can love a character who would drop a man from a cloud because he never said he loved him. He’s complex. And so is Louis. You don’t have to woobify a character to love him. He’s not real. (That said, I want to say I’m surprised, but… I’m not.)
- I’m deathly curious about Lestat’s POV of all this. We have only seen Claudia and Louis’, in all its imperfections and self-justifications. Suspect Lestat will have a wildly different take, and the truth is somewhere in between.
- hate what happens to Claudia. First writing move I disagree with. I shall, like Louis, tear the pages out and pretend it didn’t happen. You can grow up and mature without going through that. It’s a cheap shortcut to emotional maturity for a teenaged character, and I hate it.
- Louis and Claudia are both Black, and this matters still. Being vampires doesn’t change the way they have to navigate the world because you can’t kill everyone who engages in fuckery, can you.
